After confirming the information I needed, I told the construction manager that I plan to help out with the construction projects as well. Though looking as busy as he can be, I know that a certain soone is trying to listen in with my conversation with the manager though I don’t really mind. It is not as if I am talking about confidential matters.
From the construction manager’s mouth, I found out that since there are no recent encounters or enemy attacks from bandits and outsiders, General Astrantia and his personal group of 300 soldiers have all been assigned to help out with any task regarding the wall area during this ti of temporary peace. In this place, all mbers of the camp are required to sign up for daily tasks or responsibilities in the different major areas. This is to ensure that all urgent and non-urgent tasks are completed daily, all personnel do their part in maintaining the camps day-to-day activities and that no area is left unmanned or unattended at any given ti.
Since I have the option to choose where I want to work on a daily basis, I decided to sign up short term in different areas in the camp. I have the option to randomly choose on a daily basis as long as I work for any area for at least six hours per day which is required for volunteer personnel. Since I plan to stay here for about three weeks, that is a total of 126 hours. As for counting my hours worked, my identity bracelet from the acade will do that job for .
I really love the flexibility to move around from one a area or task whenever I wanted to. This will give a chance to et all of the people in the camp, learn a bunch of things about this world from the locals, complete my observations openly and to keep things fresh so I can avoid boredom and any form of burnout. It will also keep the stalker guessing what I am up to next and which part of the camp I will be appearing in.
I have an inkling that the stalker guy already found out about the details of the sample work schedule that covers a whole week which I have shown and discussed with General Delphis and Colonel Armand. Too bad for the other guy who must have sent a spy to get the details, I gave that only as a guide or reference and I never said that I will follow the list of activities to a tee. I am a volunteer worker that was given special privileges which included full flexibility in terms of my activities and freedom to choose how I want to spend my work ti in the camp so I wish him luck in tracking down every single second of my days here.
Honestly, I am quite excited to see who gets irritated first. I already know for a fact that it will definitely not be from how things are going as of the mont. If he tries to ask or confront about the fact that I am avoiding him, he would just be digging a hole for himself since I can just say that I am just spending my work days however I want it which is my right.
For today, I have already worked for a couple of hours at the dining facility, the military hospital and the alchemy lab. I worked a bit at the wall area too but this ti, I will be moving to another construction area instead since my presence here seed to not be needed. I would be more productive so place else.
I bowed in thanks to the construction manager and left the wall area. I can feel General Delphis’ eyes following my every move as I left. Once I left, I used my senses to check on what was happening in the area near the wall which I have left earlier. As expected, one of the soldiers asked what I and the construction manager talked about. The sa person then relayed it to his boss. I even saw the exact mont when General Astrantia clicked his tongue and narrowed his eyes in annoyance.
I couldn’t help but smirk at my little victory. I went straight to the area where the barracks and recreational area will be built. So far, the ground has been 40% cleared of tents. I observed for a while and noticed that the delay was due to the difficulty in moving out all the items inside the tents before the tent can be dug out of the ground and moved. Helping them is right up my alley as I can use space magic.
I approached the manager of the area that was giving instructions and monitoring the progress of the tent transfers. He was surprised to see in the area since most of the soldiers only knew that I was a doctor and a courier of supplies. I smiled at him and offered to help out in moving the personal items out of the tents. Actually, I can just store the whole tent with everything inside it easily if I think about it.
My offer to help was gladly accepted as I was guided to the area where the tent transfers are currently in progress. I talked to three soldiers whose tents were adjacent to each other, offering to help them move them to their preferred location. I can actually move way more tents at a ti but I chose to stay low profile for now.
The three soldiers looked at in surprise and then nodded their head happily. With a move of my hand, three tents suddenly disappeared much to the surprise of everyone around the four of us. I ignored the looks and the murmurs and asked the three to guide to the place where the tents will be transferred to. The move was so quick that I was able to transfer as many as 50 individual tents in an hour which increased the evacuation completion rate by more or less 5%. I stayed for 2 more hours to help out as much as I can which coincidentally completes the 6 hours of work ti that I have for today.
