The successful and bold gradually beco assassins.

This organization is incredibly powerful, hiding in the shadows. Apart from having contacted the teachers who trained them as children, the assassins know nothing else.

Even those teachers wore masks.

The universe is so vast, where there is light, there is darkness too. The rats hide deep; it’s not that easy to flush them out.

Continuing the interrogation, it was discovered that today’s anonymous report was also related to them.

The employer who wanted Ji Li dead was later killed by them.

As for the employer of the second order, they don’t know; it’s classified as a secret order.

Then it circled back; the anonymously reported case involved a dead woman, and they hadn’t successfully killed the two targets.

Ji Li was protected by Su Xiaocai and wasn’t injured.

Yi Suilu disappeared, using his own mother as a decoy to escape.

The whole affair was so convoluted that Porlin was nearly driven mad by it.

When he finally sorted through the relationships, Porlin understood.

The person who made the anonymous report was definitely Su Xiaocai. That person had been taken under military protection, allegedly because she was currently at a crucial point. To question her, a personal visit was necessary.

Porlin didn’t want to deal with her at all.

But the military wouldn’t allow a second person to take over her affairs. If he wanted to handle the case, the person to contact Su Xiaocai had to be fixed.

No replacents allowed.

Porlin slapped himself, "Serves you right for running your mouth. Damn it, it’s all your fault."

The others in the team looked at Porlin with pity, sure that he had been driven to insanity from being overworked.

Porlin: Driven insane, indeed.

The interrogation of the assassins was concluded.

Porlin, with a parched throat, popped a throat-soothing lozenge, and continued to interrogate the rcenary leader, as matters relating to Su Xiaocai could only be handled by his team.

In the past year, the workload from the cases he had taken was more than the combined total of previous years.

Having finished the lozenge, he downed a cup of strong tea before entering the interrogation room.

Sitting down, he observed the rcenary before him. His chin was covered in stubble, making him appear slightly mature. His hands were cuffed, and he sat there slouched, completely unkempt.

He seed unafraid of the interrogation, nor of jail ti.

The rcenary leader indeed wasn’t very afraid. In his early days as a rcenary, he was often invited for coffee chats by police stations on other planets; as long as he didn’t confess to murder, there wouldn’t be any issues.

The police on Capital Star were much more civilized than local police, at least they wouldn’t treat them roughly and would offer them so cool boiled water to clear their throats.

After asking about his na, age, place of birth, residence, and occupation, they proceeded to the formal interrogation process.

"When did you enter Capital Star and for what purpose?"

"Two days ago, for tourism."

"You don’t have a job, where does your money co from?"

"Wow, officer, your questions cover a wide range. Doing hard labor, there are plenty of ways to make money. Coming to Capital Star was also to see which jobs make money the fastest."

"So how do you explain the sudden five million in your account, along with the pile of weapons found in your place? You’re clearly rcenaries."

"Officer, we entered Capital Star with tourist identities. Later, an employer paid us to pretend to be rcenaries to scare the little girl, and we just followed orders. The weapons we hid were just for fun, all self-made, with limited lethality."

"Still stubborn, eh? Those who stayed behind to take the fall have confessed, and they have records of your chats. Not only did you try to kill that woman, but you also attacked a high-ranking general."

The rcenary leader sat up straight, "Officer, what are you talking about? I didn’t attack any high-ranking general. You can’t fra . I want a lawyer."

"Do you really think your employers have the ans to hire lawyers for you?" Porlin couldn’t help but pour cold water on their hopes, "Your employers can’t even protect themselves. The victims are proceeding with legal action; you won’t escape. The evidence we have is enough to sentence you all to death."

"Officer, if you had evidence, you wouldn’t be interrogating us here. I’m not scared of these tricks."

Seeing his refusal to acknowledge danger, Porlin took out a freshly printed photograph. It was a video screenshot of over thirty people besieging Admiral Bai, obviously an image from surveillance.

Scaring a little girl and attacking a general are different in nature. They might claim the attempted assassination of Su Xiaocai was just to scare her.

But attacking a general, even if unsuccessful, would be classified as espionage.

"I don’t know these people, officer, you can’t falsely accuse ." The rcenary squird as if thousands of ants were crawling up his seat, "I only got five million for attacking Admiral Bai; do you think I’m an idiot?"
