Chapter 1137: Chapter 1133: The Immortal Artifact of the Ancient Ruins
Ye Fan’s stance has always been clear. He goes to the Pan Gu Secret Realm not to apprentice and learn, but just to find Li Zhaojun. After finding Li Zhaojun, he doesn’t want to be involved in any sect grudges.
Wu Ding knows this, so she won’t try to persuade Ye Fan otherwise.
Lan Jing asked, “Ye Fan, are we not going to the secret realm anymore?”
Ye Fan looked in the direction Hui Ning had gone, towards the North Pole, and nodded, “It seems there’s no need to go. We’ll make another trip to the North Pole and leave Qing Xu with the master.”
The group followed in Hui Ning’s direction, heading north. Hui Ning moved too fast, so Wu Ding left spiritual energy behind to guide Ye Fan, who followed with Li Zhaojun and others at the back.
Without Ye Fan’s guidance, Hui Ning accurately located Elder Wu, who had a demonic outburst, and it’s also the place where Ye Fan later saw the red bird.
By the ti Ye Fan arrived, Hui Ning had already searched the entire area.
“Uncle, did you find any clues?” Wu Ding asked, also on behalf of Ye Fan.
Hui Ning stood up and said, “This is not where the ancient relics are. It seems last ti Qing Wu didn’t find the relics but was obstructed, which triggered his demonic nature. Let’s move forward!”
The group continued heading toward the North Pole, reaching a fully frozen white snowfield near the pole, without any traces of “ancient relics.” Though it was night, it was still polar day here.
Ye Fan guessed that the so-called ancient relics should be beneath the thick ice layers or underground.
Li Zhaojun whispered, “Ye Fan, don’t you notice… the firebird we saw last ti, that beast spirit, seems absent this ti.”
“Hmm.” Ye Fan nodded; the firebird had said it was going to find Lan Jing’s mother and hasn’t returned yet.
Hui Ning searched alone in front. After a long ti, she seed to have found so clues and stood before an ice cave saying, “Let’s go in together!”
Wu Ding was the first to follow, then Ye Fan and Li Zhaojun entered the ice cave. It seed to be a very long passage, but shortly after entering, the entrance collapsed.
“No need to worry, junior brother. It’s just a layer of solid ice outside, not a hindrance to us,” Wu Ding said, “but there might be powerful residual energy in the ancient relics, so be careful.”
Hui Ning, hearing Wu Ding explain so thoroughly to Ye Fan, knowing she was worried about Ye Fan, said irritably, “Wu Ding, co help open this chanism!”
They were now more than ten ters below the ice cave, in front of what seed like an ice wall. Wu Ding approached but couldn’t find a way to open it, so she resorted to the simplest thod: blasting the ice wall open with spiritual energy.
“Boom!”
A loud explosion followed, creating a huge pit hundreds of ters deep. Fortunately, Ye Fan and the others were cultivators; otherwise, they would have fallen right in.
Wu Ding looked at Hui Ning with an inquiring gaze and asked, “Uncle, should we go down?”
“We’re already here, let’s go!”
Hui Ning led the way, flying down into the seemingly abyss-like pit, with Ye Fan and others following closely. As they descended, the hole above was sealed by ice again, blocking the exit.
The abyss was about two to three hundred ters deep.
Finally reaching the ground, everything around was bathed in red light, mostly coming from behind the ice shell, like red neon lights illuminating the ice sculptures.
“It’s so beautiful here,” Qing Xu exclaid.
Indeed, the surroundings were beautiful. The vast icy square also had many bird-shaped ice sculptures, each unique but similar to the red bird Ye Fan encountered the day before, as if sculpted based on her form.
Wu Ding asked, “Uncle, is this the ancient relics?”
“This is just the Guardian’s cave,” Hui Ning scoffed, “but it’s a pity the Guardian is nowhere to be seen, not even caring for the eggs she laid!”
In the distance, there were several egg-like objects. Upon closer inspection, they were white ice balls, seemingly containing life forms, but also just a type of spiritual energy.
Ye Fan was puzzled. The red bird he saw was an immortal, yet, she was “laying eggs” here? Even though she was a beast spirit and more specifically a bird spirit, laying eggs shouldn’t involve just a woman. Could there be a male firebird inside?
With questions on his mind, Ye Fan followed Hui Ning and Wu Ding further into the deeper parts of the red ice cave, from where a strange wailing sound echoed, carrying an unusual energy that seed ready to attack intruders at any mont.
Hui Ning said, “Last ti, Qing Wu almost lost his life being blocked by the Guardian. Now the Guardian is away, which is our chance to find the ancient Immortal Artifact. Rember not to casually use spells in the passage. Activating spiritual energy will be countered by the surrounding spiritual energy and might alert the absent Guardian!”
In fact, without Hui Ning’s reminder, Ye Fan already sensed the spiritual energy traps all over this ice cave. These traps might not harm them, but activating them would summon the firebird back. As an immortal at the ascension level or even matching great powers, they wouldn’t be opponents even if they worked together.
As they proceeded, two little creatures jumped out of Ye Fan’s sleeve—Little Red Crystal and Little Blue Crystal.
Little Red Crystal was delighted upon seeing the cave, bouncing joyfully on Ye Fan’s shoulder as if returning ho.
Little Blue Crystal, however, sat drearily on Ye Fan’s shoulder, appearing very reluctant to be in such a place.
Ye Fan pondered whether Little Red Crystal was connected to this underground red ice cave.
After walking two or three kiloters, they finally stopped in front of a place resembling an underground ice palace. The surroundings were ornate, made entirely of ice, even transparent, and not solid ice, with strong spiritual energy underneath the ice shell.
Opposite them stood a human statue carved out of ice, similar to a statue Ye Fan had seen in the underground world. This statue also faced away, holding a magical artifact in hand. The artifact was peculiar, like a wooden box, open to reveal a purple glow, resonating with the red glow of the ice cave. This artifact wasn’t carved from ice but was a genuine Immortal Artifact. Ye Fan, lacking knowledge of ancient tos, judged from the powerful aura emitted that this must be a relic from ancient tis, guarded by the firebird for generations.
“Junior brother, it sowhat resembles your silhouette,” Wu Ding casually remarked.
Wu Ding was also reminding Ye Fan; since this silhouette resembles you, it could possibly be you, carved by ancients as an on.
