582: Chapter 578: Su ngchen’s Soft Heart 582: Chapter 578: Su ngchen’s Soft Heart Just as Zhao Lina decided to go to Mingde County, Ye Fan happened to lead a police team on a night raid against a pickpocket gang’s hideout and captured the entire pickpocket gang that had entrenched itself in Mingde County.
Apart from the leader Zhu Haiquan, there were twenty-three pickpockets in total, marking it as a significant case.
For such a big case, and such a significant achievent, even though Ye Fan personally led the team, it was impossible to let him take all the credit.
Therefore, the main commander was still Tang Xianlong.
After taking down the entire pickpocket gang, the police station conducted overnight interrogations.
However, Tang Xianlong didn’t want too many people to know the dirty secrets behind this pickpocket gang, so he hastily set up a small interrogation team.
Tang Xianlong was the team leader of the interrogation group, with Ye Fan as the deputy leader, plus two other old policen whom Tang Xianlong trusted to be tight-lipped.
Especially for the interrogation of Zhu Haiquan and Chen Kunfei, it was Tang Xianlong and Ye Fan who personally conducted it.
After being busy for two days and nights, the interrogation finally ended.
The following tasks were no longer Ye Fan’s concern; Tang Xianlong took over completely.
As for Chen Kunfei and Fang Jinsan, along with another officer involved in the case, they were all arrested, and Tang Xianlong reported them to the court under separate charges.
By Friday evening, a little after seven, Ye Fan finally found so free ti.
He casually found a fast-food restaurant outside and filled his stomach.
However, while eating, Ye Fan suddenly rembered he needed to call Su ngchen to apologize.
He had been too busy these last two days to think about anything else.
After finishing his al and stepping out of the fast-food restaurant, Ye Fan got into his car and, while driving toward Mingde High School, he took out his mobile phone and dialed Su ngchen’s number.
The phone rang two or three tis, and then the call was rejected by the other party.
Ye Fan let out a wry smile, guessing that Su ngchen must really hate him now.
But, since he had used her affections to investigate the case, he had to apologize—it wouldn’t sit right on his conscience otherwise.
So, Ye Fan called Su ngchen again.
After having two more calls rejected by Su ngchen in a row, Ye Fan didn’t continue calling but parked the car by the side of the road and started to draft an apology text ssage to send to Su ngchen.
However, just as he stopped the car, his phone received a ssage from Su ngchen first.
Opening the ssage, he saw it read: “Ye Fan, please stop calling .
I thank you for retrieving my phone from the pickpocket, but I don’t like being used and deceived, no matter the reason.”
“It seems she is really angry,” Ye Fan murmured to himself after reading the ssage.
He thought for a mont, then composed a reply: “Miss Su, I know I was wrong to have hurt you, so I really want to apologize and explain to you in person.
I’m already at the school gates.”
After sending the ssage, Ye Fan started the car and quickly drove to Mingde High School.
The roads were not busy in the evening, plus he was not far from Mingde High School, so within three or four minutes, Ye Fan had already arrived outside the school gates.
Having parked the car about seven or eight ters from the school gate, Ye Fan checked his phone to find that Su ngchen had already sent him two ssages saying she wouldn’t co out and that they should not et again in the future.
Ye Fan replied: “Whether you co out or not, I will wait here until eleven o’clock to express my sincere apology.”
After the ssage was sent, Su ngchen imdiately sent Ye Fan three ssages, all urging him to leave.
Ye Fan simply ignored them, sat in his car, and began to browse the internet on his phone, keeping up with national news and that of Long’an City.
About an hour later, Su ngchen sent another ssage asking, “Ye Fan, you’ve gone ho, right?”
“No, I’m still at the school gate,” Ye Fan replied with a brief ssage and continued to read the news on his phone.
Su ngchen didn’t reply right away.
After another twenty minutes or so, Su ngchen texted again asking, “Have you gone ho yet?”
“Not yet,” Ye Fan simply answered.
After six or seven more minutes, Su ngchen sent another ssage: “Ye Fan, please go back ho.
I’ve accepted your apology, but I don’t want to see you again.”
“Thank you.
However, I would like to say sorry to you in person.
I will continue to wait until eleven o’clock,” Ye Fan replied.
Su ngchen replied: “It’s so cold outside; please don’t wait outside the school gate anymore.
Hurry ho, lest you catch a cold.”
Is it really that cold?
Maybe.
But I’m in the car with the heating on and music playing; how could I possibly catch a cold?
However, Ye Fan certainly wasn’t going to foolishly say that, so he simply did not reply to the ssage.
Five minutes later, Su ngchen initiated another ssage: “Ye Fan, are you still there?”
“Still here,” Ye Fan replied.
Following that, Su ngchen replied: “Alright.
I’ll co out to see you.”
“Okay, thank you,” Ye Fan replied.
After replying to the ssage, Ye Fan checked the ti; it was not even half-past nine, aning he hadn’t even waited for two hours outside the school for Su ngchen.
“Miss Su has quite a soft heart,” Ye Fan thought to himself.
“Since she’s so accommodating, I can’t just sit in the car and wait.
I’ll go outside for so fresh air.”
So, Ye Fan got out of the car and walked toward the school gate, then stopped about two to three ters from it to wait for Su ngchen.
A few minutes later, a tall and graceful figure with long hair erged hurriedly from the school gate—it was Su ngchen.
She turned her head and surveyed the area outside the school gate, and imdiately spotted a tall, upright figure about two to three ters to the left of the gate.
Taking a deep breath, she walked toward Ye Fan.
Ye Fan also spotted Su ngchen and greeted her with a smile.
The two approached each other and then ca to a stop.
Su ngchen glanced up at Ye Fan’s strong and defined face and those bright, deep, ocean-like eyes.
Gazing intently at Su ngchen’s pretty face, Ye Fan said earnestly, “Miss Su, thank you for being willing to co out to accept my apology.
That day, I used you to enter the campus and asked about people in the school through you.
It was indeed my fault.
I sincerely apologize and hope you can forgive .”
“It’s over,” Su ngchen averted her eyes and spoke, “You were doing it to investigate the case.
I forgive you.”
“Thank you,” Ye Fan said with a smile.
Su ngchen said, “You’ve been standing here for so long, it must be cold.
Co inside for a cup of hot tea to warm up.”
Ye Fan glanced at the school gate and smiled, shaking his head, “It’s too late, not appropriate to disturb.
If you’re willing, I’d like to invite you to so late-night food.”
“Late-night food?” Su ngchen hesitated with an indecisive expression on her face and declined, “Maybe next ti.”
Ye Fan nodded, “Alright then.”
He wasn’t disappointed.
After all, he was purely motivated by remorse and a desire to apologize to Su ngchen, with a very simple aim.
Seeing that Ye Fan didn’t press the invitation further, Su ngchen, on the other hand, felt a twinge of disappointnt.
Of course, even if Ye Fan insisted, she wouldn’t have easily gone out for late-night food with him.
After all, they had t only four tis.
If it were during the day, she might consider it.
