Chapter 615: Goodbye?

It was Wednesday, and the major cleanup activities around the campus had essentially ended.

Interrogating the ruffians and collecting evidence was relatively easy; all that remained was to wait until next week to send them to court for trial.

Ye Fan also basically had so free ti.

However, the atmosphere in the police station was unsettled and chaotic.

Both the top leaders were about to be transferred, and everyone in the police station who had any hope was going crazy, constantly looking for support and trying to trip each other up.

Since Ye Fan was relatively new, everyone regarded him as soone to win over.

Nevertheless, Ye Fan kept himself completely out of it; he took no sides, so after being harassed continuously for a while, he eventually beca completely free.

At around four o’clock in the afternoon, having finished the day’s work, Ye Fan rembered that he had promised to invite Su ngchen to dinner.

So, Ye Fan picked up his phone and called Su ngchen.

However, the call was quickly dismissed; she might have been in class.

After five o’clock, when Ye Fan was preparing to leave work, his phone rang, and it was a callback from Su ngchen.

“Ye Fan, did you need sothing?” Su ngchen’s pleasant voice ca through the phone, “Sorry about earlier, I was in class and couldn’t answer the phone.”

Ye Fan smiled, “It’s fine, I understand.

Are you free tonight?

I’d like to treat you to dinner.”

“Mm, okay,” Su ngchen replied.

They had agreed on this last week.

“Heh, should I co pick you up at school, or shall we et at the restaurant?” Ye Fan asked.

He considered picking her up might cause her unnecessary attention at the school, thus he asked.

Su ngchen said, “I’ll co out myself.”

“Alright,” Ye Fan said, “Jinze Restaurant on Taiji East Road, don’t stand up.”

About fifteen minutes later, Ye Fan drove to Jinze Restaurant, chose a booth near the window, and then texted the table number to Su ngchen.

After waiting for over ten minutes, Su ngchen arrived, a smile on her pretty face.

As he stood up to invite Su ngchen to her seat, Ye Fan couldn’t help but take an extra glance at her, noticing her painted like eyebrows, her big eyes clear in the division between black and white, and her graceful, pure deanor that was quite attractive.

They sat down face to face, ordered their dishes, and started chatting casually.

The dinner was enjoyable, and the conversation flowed easily.

After dinner, it was seven o’clock, and the evening had already arrived, but the weather was clear and the wind was mild, perfect for a walk.

Su ngchen thought that Ye Fan would take the opportunity to invite her for a walk, but she ended up disappointed.

As they left the restaurant, Ye Fan said, “Let take you back.”

“Thanks, but I don’t want to go back to school so soon,” Su ngchen said, “I feel like taking a walk.”

“Oh, then alright.

I’ll drop you off at Yinxing Avenue,” Ye Fan said.

He could tell that Su ngchen had wanted him to join her for the walk, but his invitation to dinner had been purely cordial, so he didn’t want to get too involved.

Su ngchen, deeply disappointed, could only nod quietly.

Subsequently, Ye Fan drove her to Yinxing Avenue.

Yinxing Avenue wasn’t far, just a short while away.

As Ye Fan stopped the car on Yinxing Avenue, Su ngchen no longer felt like shopping and said, “Ye Fan, I suddenly feel a bit unwell, I don’t feel like walking anymore.

Please take back to school.”

“Feeling unwell?

Did you eat sothing bad?” Ye Fan asked with concern.

“No, just a bit dizzy.

I’ll be fine after so rest,” Su ngchen replied.

Ye Fan responded and then turned the car around to drive Su ngchen back to school.

Throughout the ride, Su ngchen remained silent, not speaking, and Ye Fan, knowing he had rejected her insinuation, didn’t say much either.

Upon reaching the crossroads where they had accidentally t last ti, Su ngchen suddenly said, “Ye Fan, just stop the car here.

I can walk back by myself from here.”

“Alright,” Ye Fan replied and pulled the car over to the side of the road.

When the car stopped, Su ngchen didn’t get out imdiately; instead, she smiled slightly and said, “It seems like I t you here last ti, right?”

“Heh, yes.

I was investigating a case here at that ti,” Ye Fan nodded, “Thanks for making it convenient for .”

Su ngchen smiled, didn’t say anything, unbuckled her seat belt, opened the car door, and said, “I am going now, goodbye.”

After saying that, she got out of the car.

“Goodbye,” Ye Fan said.

He probably understood what Su ngchen ant—they would hardly see each other again.

He watched as Su ngchen’s slender and tall figure moved away about ten ters, then he started the car, left the crossroads, and headed ho.

About thirty or forty ters away, Su ngchen looked back at where she had just alighted and saw that it was empty; Ye Fan’s car had left seconds after she disembarked.

She inhaled the cold air; her pretty face looked a bit sad yet sowhat relieved.

It was good this way, without any forced feelings.

Ye Fan drove ho, bathed, and then sat on the living room couch reading “Seeking Truth.” The replay of “News Broadcast” was still half an hour away.

Wei Ziling, anwhile, knelt on the couch behind Ye Fan, skillfully rubbing his shoulders and back, while watching the TV.

Ye Fan finished an article, checked the ti, a few minutes shy of “News Broadcast,” but not enough to finish another article.

“Ziling, I’m going back to Hua Hai this weekend.

Do you want to go back to Hua Hai?” Ye Fan asked as he enjoyed Wei Ziling’s shoulder massage.

Wei Ziling shifted her gaze from the TV to Ye Fan and replied, “Hmm, I want to go ho too.

It’s my first ti being away from ho for so long.”

She had attended university in Hua Hai, so it truly was her first ti away from ho for so long.

“Heh, I really put you on the spot,” Ye Fan chuckled, “Alright, you don’t have to massage anymore.”

Wei Ziling stopped, crawled out, and then sat down next to Ye Fan.

“It’s okay.

I had a really happy month,” Wei Ziling said sweetly.

Yet, Ye Fan didn’t quite buy it.

Wei Ziling was a fashionable girl who grew up in a bustling tropolis; how could she really be happy in a small county town?

Ye Fan took out his phone and used mobile banking to transfer thirty thousand yuan to Wei Ziling’s bank account.

Although Wei Ziling saw Ye Fan fiddling with his phone, she did not lean over to look and did not know that Ye Fan was transferring money to her.

She heard her phone, placed on the coffee table, beep with a ssage tone, reached for it, and saw it was a bank deposit notification for thirty thousand yuan.

“Mr.

Ye, did you just transfer money to ?” she turned and asked Ye Fan.

Ye Fan replied with a smile, “Yes.

You can’t go ho empty-handed since it’s your first ti away for so long.

Buy sothing for your parents to make them happy.”

“But wasn’t it agreed that my salary would be five thousand a month?” Wei Ziling asked.

Ye Fan smiled and said, “That wasn’t your salary; that was a bonus.

You’ve worked hard lately, handling everything.

Without you, I would have been a ss.”

“I didn’t really do much,” Wei Ziling replied, sowhat embarrassed, “Thank you.”

Ye Fan laughed heartily.
