The price of these bullets varied depending on their type.
Standard Tearing Rifle bullets were the cheapest, but they still cost 5 Points each.
Five Points might not seem like much, but you can’t just buy one bullet!
If you ran into a horde of zombies, you could fire off hundreds of bullets in minutes.
Even for a small hunting squad, buying 500 bullets was the bare minimum for safety. A thousand was what you’d call a safe bet.
And how many Points did 1,000 bullets cost? A whopping 5,000 Points! And they were a one-ti use consumable, at that.
If a weaker team went out and ran into trouble, they might not even recoup their costs.
And this sort of thing happened often. After all, a single regular Elental Crystal only sold for 20 Points at the rcenary Guild.
In other words, if you couldn’t kill a Zombie in under four shots, you were guaranteed to lose money.
Don’t be fooled by how easily the mbers of the Heaven-Sundering rcenary Corps seed to hunt Ordinary Zombies. Most could take one down with a single bullet. If they missed, the second shot was a guaranteed kill.
But that was because the Heaven-Sundering rcenary Corps followed an elite path, with strict recruitnt standards. Besides, those with poor Gun Technique obediently used Hand Cannons instead.
However, the average rcenary needed two to three bullets to kill a single Zombie.
For rookies, however, all bets were off.
Zombies only died if you hit them in the head, and they knew how to dodge. It was common for a rookie to fire ten or twenty shots and still fail to kill a Zombie.
This was why so many of the Optimized couldn’t beco rcenaries, and even if they did, they couldn’t join a rcenary Corps.
But I digress. In short, the cost of bullets was the biggest expense.
This was also why the status of a Divine Sharpshooter was so high—only they could secure the greatest profits for a rcenary Corps with the least expenditure.
After a brief discussion, Lin Xinghai and the others spent a total of 10,000 Points to buy 2,000 standard bullets.
It was always a good idea to have extra ammunition. Besides, they didn’t have to worry about waste; they could just get a refund for any leftovers when they returned.
In addition to standard bullets, they also had to buy Special Bullets.
And naturally, Special Bullets were even more expensive.
A single Armor-Piercing Bullet cost 30 Points.
As for Burning Bullets, they were even pricier at 35 Points.
Besides these two types of Special Bullets, Lin Xinghai also saw freezing bullets and Corrosive Bullets.
According to the description, the warheads of the freezing bullets were filled with liquid nitrogen. Upon hitting a target, the liquid nitrogen would spray out, causing an instantaneous freezing effect. It was like a Weakening version of the Celestial Frost Superpower, and it cost the sa as a Burning Bullet: 35 Points.
Among all the Special Bullets, the most unique was perhaps the Corrosive Bullet. Inside it, a special mbrane contained a fluid called lt Acid.
A single drop of this lt Acid could eat through a one-ter-thick steel plate.
However, these Corrosive Bullets were rarely used in actual combat because the lt Acid couldn’t eat through a one-ter-thick steel plate instantly—it took a full minute.
If you were fighting a Mutated Zombie, you’d have to tie it up first to get the full effect of the bullet. Otherwise, the creature could just cut off the injured part.
Because of this characteristic, Corrosive Bullets could only be used in very specific situations. Overall, they were a bit of a gimmick, but that didn’t an they were cheap.
The price of 100 Points per bullet was truly sothing else. Lin Xinghai decided it was best to just look.
After discussing with the others, he ultimately decided to buy 100 Armor-Piercing Bullets and 10 Burning Bullets. They would skip the rest.
The Special Bullets alone cost them 3,350 Points.
In addition, they also needed to buy so Hand Cannon ammunition. If they ran into a zombie tide, they’d have to rely on it to hold them back.
And that stuff was seriously expensive—100 Points per round, non-negotiable.
In the end, the group pooled another 5,000 Points to buy 50 rounds, just in case.
All told, the ammunition alone cost them a total of 18,350 Points.
On top of that, they also needed to buy so Energy Crystal Stones to replenish the multi-functional off-road vehicle’s Rocket Jetpack.
Antitoxic Serums were also essential items.
Purchasing these items cost another 2,000 Points, bringing their total expenditure to 20,350 Points.
On average, each person had to contribute 4,070 Points.
Lin Xinghai had previously spent 10,000 Points on the Phantom Body Technique. Now, after this, his account balance had shrunk to 10,062 Points.
Looking at his rapidly dwindling balance, Lin Xinghai couldn’t help but feel a pang of nostalgia. When he went on missions with the Heaven-Sundering rcenary Corps, all expenses were covered by the corps. He hadn’t spent a single cent.
Of course, the flip side was that a larger investnt could lead to a larger return.
On his previous mission with the rcenary Corps, the final reward he received was about 20,000 Points, which was only about 6% of the total earnings—and that was after he had made a major contribution.
But this ti, going out with Ling Xiu and the others, he was getting a 60% share of the total inco. Under normal circumstances, taking on private jobs like this was definitely more profitable.
Once their shopping was complete, the group headed to the rcenary Plaza in the Lower Level District.
When they arrived, the equipnt they had requested had already been delivered. Lin Xinghai inspected the Tearing Rifle, put on his Combat Suit, and was ready to go.
anwhile, Ling Xiu and the others ticulously inspected the multi-functional off-road vehicle. After all, it was their lifeline if they ran into danger, so no one dared to be careless.
It was only then that Lin Xinghai learned that the two brothers, Huang Nuo and Yao Cheng, were also skilled in chanical repairs. They were the ones handling the main inspection work.
"The vehicle’s fine. The Rocket Jetpack is fully operational," Huang Nuo reported, closing the hood.
Then, everyone turned to look at Lin Xinghai.
Lin Xinghai nodded. "Alright, let’s move out!"
Huang Nuo got into the driver’s seat, and the others waited for Lin Xinghai to pick his spot.
After a mont of thought, Lin Xinghai sat in the front passenger seat.
Seeing this, Zhang iling and Yao Cheng climbed into the back seats.
As for Ling Xiu, he grabbed his sniper rifle and climbed onto the roof, where a modified position had been set up. It was where he usually sat.
From this high vantage point, it was the perfect shooting position.
The only downside, of course, was having to face the harsh wind, dust, and scorching sun. After a mission, it was impossible to avoid being covered in dirt and gri.
The vehicle started, and the group took a large elevator to leave the Star Shield Shelter.
At the sa ti, the rcenary Guild finished reviewing the recording of Lin Xinghai’s shooting range challenge. They officially updated the rankings and made the announcent.
