109: Chapter 109: Tip-off [Second Update for Monthly Votes] 109: Chapter 109: Tip-off [Second Update for Monthly Votes] Yusuf Zuck didn’t rush back to the city center from the airport overnight; instead, he curled up in his car and slept until dawn.

Today’s task was to first sort out the store’s affairs, then discuss the renovation with Miles O’Brien, and he also planned to transfer either Samuel Ross or one of the guards to the Ruiz Family community marketplace.

He wasn’t at ease with Miles O’Brien being there alone, but with Samuel Ross or a guard, it would be much more stable.

At half-past eight in the morning, after having a quick breakfast on the roadside, he finally drove his car to the parking lot, where Miles O’Brien’s new MINI was also parked.

Yusuf got out of the car, looking at the various antiques on the roadside as he walked inside.

anwhile, at the Chaoyang Branch of the Beijing Police Station, Ember Vance arrived at her unit at eight in the morning and had been dealing with a case in hand.

At half-past eight, the internal phone rang.

It was Jas Hart, the deputy squad leader, calling her.

“Ember, co to my office,” Jas said before hanging up.

Ember tidied up her desk and then quickly went upstairs, where the deputy squad leader’s office was located.

After knocking and entering, there was no one else in the room beside Jas Hart, who was on the phone and gestured for Ember to sit down.

Ember didn’t sit down right away but instead poured so flower water and helped Jas water the plants.

A mont later, Jas hung up the phone and then said directly, “Ember, that Fengdu case last ti, was the security guard nad Yusuf Zuck?”

“Uh…” Ember, who was watering the plants, was startled for a mont, then nodded and said, “Yes, his na is Yusuf Zuck.

What’s up, did he commit an offense again?” Ember said, looking astonished.

Jas waved his hand, “No, no, I’m just asking for a friend.

Do you know where he is living now?”

“Oh.” Ember gave Jas an odd look.

Although she was sowhat carefree, her mind was incredibly ticulous.

If Yusuf hadn’t committed a cri, why would Jas inquire about Yusuf’s residence?

What was the deputy squad leader up to?

“I don’t know about that.

A few days ago, I looked into it, and it seed like Yusuf was fired by Fengdu, and Fengdu’s female CEO was also replaced, so I really don’t know where he’s living now.”

“Do you have his phone number?

Give him a call and say it’s a routine inquiry, asking him to co to the police station,” Jas suggested after thinking it over.

“Alright, but has there been any progress with Fengdu’s case?” Ember asked, puzzled.

“Not at the mont, just get Yusuf over here first, register his exact address and the like, so that it’s easier to find him in the future.”

“Understood.” Ember saluted and walked out.

Back in her own office, Ember didn’t rush to make the call; instead, she kept spinning the ballpoint pen in her hand.

If there had been no progress in Fengdu’s case and Yusuf hadn’t committed a cri, why did the deputy squad leader ask Yusuf to co over?

Why did he ask where he lived?

“Could it be that soone else is looking for him?” The clever Ember Vance imdiately thought of this possibility – it was soone else looking for Yusuf, requiring assistance from the deputy squad leader.

Thinking this, Ember imdiately picked up her personal phone and dialed Yusuf’s number.

At this ti, Yusuf was on Ruiz Family Street, looking at antiques.

He saw a set of calligraphy he was particularly fond of.

The age couldn’t be too far back because the patina wasn’t heavy, but he really liked the content inscribed: “As the heavens are vast and enduring, the gentleman must constantly strive to improve himself; as the earth’s terrain is vast and enduring, the gentleman carries his virtue with breadth and depth!”

The signature was from soone he hadn’t heard of, “Dedicated by Di Sheng to Ji Liang, persevere!”

His na was Di Sheng, and this calligraphy was a gift to a man nad Ji Liang.

“Master, does this calligraphy have any story behind it?” Yusuf inquired.

“Don’t know, it’s just old writing,” the stall owner replied with a Sichuan accent, obviously not a local.

“How much then?” Yusuf asked curiously.

“Eight hundred eighty, none of the calligraphy here goes over a thousand.

If you like this piece, I’ll give you a discount, eight hundred,” the stall owner said, gesturing with his fingers.

“Deal, then eight hundred it is.” Yusuf pulled out eight hundred bucks, handed them to the stall owner, and then continued walking inside, carrying the calligraphy with him.

Just then, his phone rang right on cue; the caller ID showed it was Officer Vance.

“Officer Vance, what’s up?” Yusuf Zuck answered straight away.

“Yusuf, I need to ask you sothing.

Have you gotten into any trouble these last couple of days, or have you offended anyone?”

“Oh?

What do you an?” Yusuf stopped in his tracks and raised his eyebrows as if there was a hidden ssage in Ember’s words.

“It ans nothing.

I’m asking you a question.

Answer ,” Ember ordered.

“Why should I answer you?

You’re not my wife,” joked Yusuf.

“Are you looking for trouble?” Ember said angrily.

“Soone’s asking where you live.

Think carefully about how you handle this!”

“Oh?

They’ve got the police to ask where I live?

They’ve got connections that reach high into the sky, impressive, impressive!” Yusuf exclaid in surprise.

“They?

What exactly is going on?

Tell quickly,” Ember demanded furiously.

“I hit a rich young man nad Bud Trujillo yesterday.

Did they report it to the police?” Yusuf muttered.

“Bud Trujillo?

Bud Trujillo?” Ember’s voice rose suddenly.

“You hit him?” she asked, astounded.

“Probably knocked out a few teeth,” Yusuf replied nonchalantly.

“How can you be such a troublemaker?” Ember said anxiously.

“Thanks for your concern, gorgeous officer.

Heh heh.” Yusuf could tell that although Ember was scolding him, she wasn’t really against him and even seed to be worried about him.

“Who’s worried about you?

Just turn off your phone right now.

I’ve just received notice to inform you to co to the station for routine questioning.

But if you switch off your phone I can’t find you, and it’s okay if you don’t show up, it’s nothing important.

And rember, no matter who asks where you live, don’t tell them.

Hurry up and hang up and turn off the phone.”

With a “click,” Ember had hung up before Yusuf could say anything.

Yusuf just shook his head with a wry smile.

Ember Vance actually cared about him – that was like the sun rising from the west.

In fact, Ember was not bad at all; on the contrary, she was kind-hearted.

Though Yusuf had crossed her, she still harbored exceptional feelings for him, especially after that night when she watched his carefree departing figure waving goodbye – any grudges or hatred seed to fly away.

She had allowed him to touch her, but he hadn’t.

Therefore, she thought this little rascal had that sort of gangster spirit, and she liked this gangster spirit.

As Yusuf contemplated whether to turn off his phone, a ssage ca through: “et at the corner across from the substation at 11:30 am.” It was from Ember Vance.

“Okay.” Yusuf imdiately replied with an “Okay.”

“Turn off your phone.” Another ssage ca, urging him to shut it off.

Yusuf thought for a mont and then turned off his phone.

In the office, about ten minutes later, Ember tried calling Yusuf’s number again, and the sound of the phone being switched off ca through.

“Phew,” she sighed softly.

“You asshole, I’m only helping you this once, to repay the favor,” Ember muttered under her breath.

However, she herself didn’t know what favor she owed Yusuf.

Was it for returning the gun, or was it for not touching her?

In any case, her feelings were complicated.

These days, when she occasionally dread, she would see the lonely and desolate figure waving to her, a figure she couldn’t shake off, as if for a mont, she resonated with him, a feeling of sadness and solitude.

She also occasionally dread of a hand gently kneading her…

her breast, and every ti she woke up in the middle of the night, she felt both embarrassed and shy.

She both liked and disliked the sensation; it was contradictory.
