56: Chapter 56: Jero Hart 56: Chapter 56: Jero Hart Ruth Wilcox’s team was always busy, but they maintained high living standards on their outings; their dinner was booked at Marriott, with a private room and a full table of dishes.

Ruth Wilcox wasn’t afraid to spend money; she believed that good food and accommodation would keep her employees motivated.

Even during als, she allowed the n to have a beer, on the condition that they could continue working after finishing a bottle.

Yusuf Zuck, as both driver and bodyguard, had his al with everyone else, but he wasn’t very familiar with the staff—they were all elite mbers of the company and usually out of his reach.

After a hearty al and returning to his room to continue watching television, Ruth Wilcox and the others kept themselves busy.

At ten in the evening, just as Yusuf was dozing off on the sofa, his phone suddenly rang.

He hadn’t dared to sleep.

Though he had a room to himself, if Ruth Wilcox wasn’t asleep, as her bodyguard, he couldn’t strip down and snore away in bed.

It would be negligence on his part if she needed sothing.

It was all fun and gas usually, but he couldn’t drop the ball when it mattered most.

The caller was Ruth Wilcox.

“Yusuf, are you asleep?” she asked after he answered the call.

“What’s up, Ms.

Wilcox?

Sothing wrong?

I’m not asleep,” Yusuf responded.

“Oh, then drive to the airport and pick soone up for ,” Ruth said.

“He’s just flown in from the United States; it was very sudden—I didn’t even know about it beforehand!”

“Sure, sure, no problem, I’m on it.

But is it a man or woman?

What do they look like?

How do I find them at the airport?” Yusuf grabbed his coat and headed out while still on the phone.

“It’s a man, Jero Hart, looks about twenty-sothing.

I’ll send you his phone number in a bit.”

“Okay, I’m already downstairs,” Yusuf replied without asking further.

It wasn’t his place as a driver to pry into the identity of the person he was picking up.

“Drive safely,” Ruth added, without offering any explanation, not that she needed to explain anything to Yusuf.

There was an Audi A6 in the hotel parking lot.

Ruth seed to have a special fondness for Audi vehicles, but the Audi’s stability and comfort were indeed well-regarded.

Getting into the car and firing up the GPS, Yusuf sped toward the airport.

anwhile, his phone received a ssage from Ruth Wilcox, which contained Jero Hart’s phone number.

“Coming from the United States, is he an overseas Chinese or maybe one of Ms.

Wilcox’s old flas?” Yusuf shook his head and chuckled.

Ruth was in her twenties too, holding a lot of power, and he wouldn’t believe it if she had no past lovers.

But whether she had old flas or not wasn’t really his business.

Frankly, he was just temporarily the driver and bodyguard, and he’d only known Ruth for a few days.

Despite his good impression of her, he never considered pursuing her because they weren’t a match and he wasn’t yet qualified.

After all, fish stick with fish, shrimp with shrimp, and turtles with soft-shelled turtles.

He and Ruth Wilcox were just parallel lines that couldn’t intersect, at least not for now.

Even with three million in savings, that was probably just a drizzle for Ruth Wilcox.

In other words, even if he shalessly pursued her and succeeded, what could he offer to support her?

He couldn’t afford it.

He had a clear understanding of his position and was very rational about it.

Soon, he arrived at the airport and dialed Jero Hart’s phone number.

The phone was answered after two rings with a magnetic male voice speaking impressively standard Mandarin: “You’re the driver Ruth sent over, right?

Thank you, I’m at the terminal bookstore.”

“Oh, I’m at the parking lot.

Where is the bookstore in the terminal?

Maybe you could co out?

The parking lot is easy to find, not so much the bookstore!” Yusuf was exceedingly polite, even using the respectful ‘you’, yet his face bore an amused expression.

This Jero Hart wasn’t a young lady, so why did he need to go inside the terminal to pick him up?

Jero Hart, on the other end, seed taken aback by Yusuf’s words, falling silent for a mont before answering with a chuckle, “It’s okay if it’s hard to find, no rush, I’ll wait for you at the bookstore.” Then he hung up!

“Damn!” Yusuf was suddenly not so composed.

What was this guy playing at, insisting that Yusuf co inside to pick him up?

“Motherfucker, I’ll take a nap first.

It’s not easy to find anyway!” Why should Yusuf indulge this Jero Hart?

Did he know who he was?

Did being Ms.

Wilcox’s little lover make him so special?

Yusuf’s boss was Ruth Wilcox, not Jero Hart, so why should he be courteous to him?

Was he supposed to go in as if he were picking up the Emperor?

Yusuf didn’t get out of the car; instead, he sat there smoking and listening to music, convinced that he couldn’t find the terminal bookstore anyway.

If Jero Hart called to ask, he would just say he couldn’t find it.

An hour quickly passed, and Yusuf was steadfast.

If Jero Hart wouldn’t co out, Yusuf wouldn’t go in.

And an hour later, Jero Hart’s phone rang.

After picking up, Yusuf Zuck didn’t speak first.

He thought for a mont then said, “I’ve bought a lot of books, too many for one person to carry.

Could you help out and grab so?

Thanks!”

“Pfft–” Upon hearing Jero Hart’s words, Yusuf Zuck almost spat out his drink.

Damn, if you bought books, why didn’t you say so earlier?

Instead of playing word gas over the phone, well, Yusuf Zuck couldn’t be blad for this.

“I’ll be right there.” Yusuf Zuck hung up the phone and scurried towards the terminal building—no help for it, he had misunderstood.

Actually, the bookstore in the terminal was easy to find; you could see it as soon as you entered, as it was right in the lobby.

There sat a young man at the bookstore, wearing a white shirt with his suit jacket draped over his arm, engrossed in reading a book, and beneath his feet lay three large boxes of packed books!

Yusuf Zuck felt his head swell; even with both of them, wouldn’t moving these three boxes of books take at least two trips?

Did this guy bring back so many books from overseas?

“Hello, my na is Yusuf Zuck.

Ms.

Wilcox sent to pick you up.

Your na is Jero Hart, right?

I went to the wrong terminal building earlier, ended up at Terminal 2.

Sorry about that!” Yusuf Zuck greeted him with a smile but didn’t reach out for a handshake.

After all, he was just a small-ti driver, why would he shake hands with soone like that?

However, Jero Hart was quite polite.

He stood up, extended his hand, and said with a smile, “If I hadn’t called you, would you have gone to Terminal 3?”

“Err…

Is there a Terminal 3?

I’m not familiar with Shanghai either,” Yusuf Zuck, without the slightest blush or breathlessness, shook hands with Jero Hart symbolically.

“I know you,” Jero Hart looked at Yusuf Zuck and said, “The Fengdu bomb case, the thief at the Ruth Wilcox villa, you helped to resolve them all.

Very good, her grandfather has praised you.”

“Oh, those things are known all the way over in the United States?” Yusuf Zuck was utterly surprised.

It seed whatever happened in Fengdu was known in detail by the head office in the United States!

“That’s not the right way to put it,” Jero Hart shook his head.

“What’s not right?” Yusuf Zuck was puzzled.

He hadn’t said anything amiss, had he?

“It’s not ‘our’ United States; the United States doesn’t belong to us.

Also, I am not Arican; my household registration is in Jiangxi, China.”

“Alright, forget it.

If you’re not an Arican, then you’re a compatriot.

But why carry so many books with you when you travel?

Isn’t it exhausting?

Can you even get through them all?” Yusuf Zuck changed the subject.

“Just bought them.

Didn’t you notice the empty shelves?” Jero Hart pointed behind him towards the bookstore.

“Damn, you’re impressive, a real reading fanatic!” Yusuf Zuck gave a thumbs up.

“They looked good, so I bought them.

I need to trouble you, though.”

“Alright, let’s try to take them all in one shot.

I’ll lift one box and you stack another on top; you carry one, and that should do it.” Having said that, Yusuf Zuck picked up a huge box, which must have weighed at least a hundred pounds.

“Two boxes, is that okay?” Jero Hart’s eyebrows lifted, realizing that together, the two boxes might weigh about 200 pounds.

Moreover, the walk from the terminal to the parking lot outside was a good 500 ters.

“Co on, no problem,” Yusuf Zuck motioned for Jero Hart to hurry and place it on top.

Jero Hart nodded, lifted the second box, and placed it on top of the box Yusuf Zuck was holding.

“Follow .” Yusuf Zuck strode out, with Jero Hart carrying a box following behind him.

But Jero Hart seed to walk with ease, even with a box weighing over a hundred pounds, not appearing to struggle.

A mont later, the two of them cramd all three large boxes into the back seat of the A6, as they couldn’t fit in the trunk.

“Where to?” asked Yusuf Zuck, getting into the car.

“Let’s find a place to eat first; I’m still hungry.

Then we head to where you guys are staying.

I want to et Ruth, and tomorrow I need to go back to Jiangxi.”

“Alright, I’m hungry again, perfect for a late-night snack.” Yusuf Zuck was a bit unsure now; what exactly was the relationship between Jero Hart and Ruth Wilcox?
