The idea of that Abyss Demon Lord is simple: he wants to rely on a large number of Night Spirits to parasitize and erode the Nanierga Giant Wall.
As long as the Night Spirits can parasitize and erode Nanierga, this strongest frontline against the Abyss will collapse without a fight, becoming a gateway for free entry and exit.
At that ti, the Nanierga under Night Spirit control would not only cease to provide refuge to the Source but would also cooperate with the plans of the Abyss, gradually advancing the frontlines, bit by bit invading the lands of the Source, causing it to fall.
It’s just that to implent this plan, two premises must be resolved.
One is to solve the control problem of the Night Spirits.
The other is to enable the Night Spirit Aggregate to leave the Black Land and enter the Source first.

Therefore, not only humans, but magic creatures and Abyss creatures if appearing before a Night Spirit, it would attack indiscriminately, assaulting anything that moves.
In such circumstances, the Abyss Demon Lord must certainly devise a thod to control Night Spirits, otherwise, it’s impossible to get Night Spirits to parasitize and erode Nanierga.
The second issue arises from the peculiar nature of Nanierga itself.
As a fortification created by the dwarves to resist the Abyss, Nanierga actually resembles the domain concept found in the world of sorcery.
Typical enclosed domains, once unfolded, have internal strength far better than external strength, with the purpose of trapping opponents entering the domain, preventing escape.
Nanierga follows suit.
The side facing the Black Land is actually the most robust, even if an army of Abyss creatures attacks, even with dozens of Abyss Demon Lords joining forces, it would be challenging to breach Nanierga.
