After an unknown span of ti, Mystigo finally regained its tranquility.
With the abyssal creatures scared away by Zarayas’s aura, both Abyss Demon Lords defeated, and the Abyss Gate closed, Mystigo seed to be devoid of enemies, leaving only Reiger, lo, and Naisa lingering there.
At this mont, Reiger descended from the sky, returning before lo and Naisa.
"Sir..."
Both lo and Naisa opened their mouths simultaneously, trying to say sothing but not knowing how to begin, their faces clouded with gloom.
The atmosphere suddenly beca sowhat silent, sowhat oppressive.
It was inevitable; upon thinking of Beluti’s self-sacrifice in the ritual to close the Abyss Gate, neither lo nor Naisa could feel cheerful.
"I should have realized sooner." Naisa even blad herself, saying, "That was a dinsional passage that the abyss paid a huge price to open, capable of existing in the world for eleven thousand years. How could it be easily closed?"
If it were so simple, this land wouldn’t have beco like this.
"That empire" used to be the largest and strongest power in the Source World; if closing the Abyss Gate were feasible, how could they not attempt it?
In the end, the Abyss Gate persisted for eleven thousand years, not closing even after "the empire" perished, and the entire Source World couldn’t manage it, having to erect a great wall to completely isolate this land.
This fully demonstrated that closing the Abyss Gate was by no ans an easy task.
Beluti managed it partly due to chance, acquiring the research results left by a once-powerful race and precisely finding a thod, and partly due to sacrificing herself, paying a substantial price.
Without sacrifice, how could anyone accomplish what so many others failed to do?
Bear in mind, Beluti wasn’t any formidable being; in contrast, she was rely a healer with no strength to bind a chicken.
For such a person to achieve what others couldn’t without paying a great price was impossible.
It can only be said that everything was predetermined, only the others didn’t foresee it beforehand.
"Until now, I’ve finally understood why she could earn so many people’s admiration and why she beca a revered saint." lo sighed, speaking softly, "To be honest, I’ve begun to respect her too."
After saying this, lo, nonetheless, gathered her spirit, looking spiritedly towards Reiger.
"Sir, can you resurrect Saint Beluti again like when you resurrected us earlier?"
lo’s remark also invigorated Naisa’s expression beside her, causing her to look at Reiger expectantly.
The reincarnation of the deceased—such a monuntal feat that no one in the entire Source World could achieve.
Earlier, due to shock affecting their minds, the girls hadn’t linked how remarkable a deed Reiger accomplished, only then realizing, astonishing and stupefied.
If not for the situation and occasion being inappropriate, Naisa would’ve wanted to thoroughly inquire Reiger about this matter.
Now that lo ntioned it, Naisa didn’t care to ask Reiger how it was done, only hoping he could still achieve it, bringing back that already sacrificed opponent who left her feeling rather complicated.
Sadly...
"You think I haven’t tried?" Reiger appeared unusually composed, shaking his head as he explained, "I’ve tried long ago, but unfortunately, it failed."
Indeed, Beluti’s resurrection failed.
"Why?"
Naisa inquired urgently.
"The reason is actually quite simple." Reiger pursed his lips, saying, "Beluti’s soul is not here now."
It had already been explained before; for high-level Healing Magic and Resurrection Magic, the physical body’s completeness is irrelevant, at least not affecting the spell’s outco.
Unless the magic’s rank is too low, Healing Magic and Resurrection Magic should function without needing a physical body.
This type of magic genuinely works on the soul rather than the body.
As long as the soul remains, even if the girls were completely lted into a pool of blood like earlier, Reiger could use [True Revival] to resurrect them, letting them be reborn.
However, once the soul is lost, even the highest tier resurrection magic will fail.
Without the target, the magic naturally can’t function, only andering aimlessly like a headless fly outside.
Recalling the scene before the Abyss Gate closed, where Beluti, without turning back, rushed into the dinsional rift amidst white flas, Reiger speculated that Beluti’s soul might have fallen into the void between dinsions, becoming a lost soul within the dinsional rift.
Hence, the resurrection magic failed utterly to revive Beluti.
"Of course, if it were just that, I wouldn’t be without thods." Reiger furrowed his brows, saying, "The issue is, Beluti’s soul may have its own problems, being unable to return."
If it were rely a lost soul, Reiger could completely perform [Wish Upon a Star] like when resurrecting Yuloli earlier to summon Beluti’s soul back, then use resurrection magic to revive Beluti.
