With the armor seemingly working as intended and my confidence built up from the previous fights, I turned my attention towards the last remaining Spirit in this cavern, which was of course the Lightning Spirit.
It was a little larger than the others and it had that rather nacing purple glow around it that signified its elent, but beyond that it also was drifting around with a ’sword’ in its hand, which really looked like a sowhat long tal toothpick.
Although that tal toothpick was more than capable of wounding severely as well as killing if I let my guard down during my fight with it, especially if it began to amplify its attacks with Lightning Mana.
With it being so far the obvious thing to do was to open up with at least two Fire Arrows before creating a Fla Lash and attacking it from just a bit aways to avoid that Lightning surrounding it; if need be I could get close and strike it down, but that was not sothing I wanted to do to a bundle of potential electricity...
The only ’problem’ was my current mana levels, which didn’t seem to be doing terribly well after everything that I had done so far; if I had to take a guess I was going to have enough to get those Fire Arrows off and maybe one or two attacks with the Fla Lash, but past that... I wasn’t confident.
This armor spell was very draining on my current mana reserve, and trying to do multiple things at once for the first ti ever ant that the processes used weren’t efficient yet, so I was definitely going to want to co back and try this again soti soon, just to attempt to improve it wherever I could.
But I was done being terribly worried about it and decided to just act, since every second I stood here without doing anything was more mana that I wouldn’t get back until later, which would be of no use here against the Lightning Spirit.
Readying myself and nocking an arrow, I took aim and caught the Lightning Spirit just as it turned to the side, giving a very small advantage that I was very grateful to have; when that arrow flashed against the purple aura I clicked my tongue, but I still sent another anyways.
The second one t the sword of the Lightning Spirit now that it was aware it was being attacked, and although it deflected it away the arrow still dealt so damage as the heat from it charred the monster’s arm, which was a start.
Quickly creating the Fla Lash, I felt the hairs on my arms and back of my neck stand tall - both from sudden fear and the crackling of electricity - as the Lightning Spirit zipped over and covered the distance between us before the lash even hit the ground.
Cracking it up to defend against the oncoming blade, I barely managed to save myself from getting skewered in the shoulder, sending the Lightning Spirit back a foot as it reoriented itself, preparing for the next attack.
While it was further away from I cracked the lash again, going for a horizontal attack that covered the area in front of , though all that managed to achieve was an irritated Lightning Spirit as it zipped higher into the air.
Swinging my arm back and tracking it upwards, I sent the lash after it while being prepared to swing if it got close, my fingers squeezing the hilt of my dagger as I watched it intently; once again it used its blade to block most of the lash, but this ti it raised its own hand and sent a jagged bolt of purple lightning straight at .
I barely was able to dodge it, the bolt streaking to the side of and eating at the flas protecting my arms, disrupting the plates and revealing my flesh underneath; seeing that the Lightning Spirit prepared another bolt, hoping to deal damage from afar before it got closer again.
Yet again I swung the lash, and this ti I caught it just as it released the bolt, my lash weakening imnsely because of the more potent source of heat it ca into contact with; I still managed to wrangle its arm and pull it down, but it wasn’t as damaged as I would have liked.
It was enough for to swing the dagger upwards and nick its chest, causing to lant having the shorter blade since a short sword would have bisected it right here... but instead I just had a gash on its chest for my troubles.
That was the start though, and after taking that hit and having both arms burnt the Lightning Spirit wasn’t in the best of shape, so its next attack was a bit sloppy and slower than before; it was still just a tad bit faster than I was confident of reacting to, so it got way to close before I managed to step away from the stab.
Now that it was even closer though I canceled the lash and instead just swung my fist at it, catching it off guard and sending it flying backwards with a crack; it skidded across the ground with pathetic grunts, not expecting that whatsoever.
Chasing after it, I managed to plunge my dagger into its chest before it could get off of the ground again, but before it died it released a jolt of lightning around itself, tearing away most of my magical ’armor’ and charring my cuirass; so of it went through and shocked , but it wasn’t terribly wounding.
Definitely surprising though, and it gave a bit of a fright since my body was tingling now... but it was over; the Lightning Spirit was dead and this cavern was clear, all because of my actions...
It was a bit odd to think of, but before I could even get too deep into those thoughts Kha’Miero ca over and clapped her hand first on my butt and then on my back as she congratulated , which caused most of my excess energy to divert itself imdiately to a new ’objective’.
