It wasn’t the only unique skeleton to erge from the ground to confront us either, since a few monts later a thick bladed scythe swung free from the soil and hooked a tree, allowing the giant undead to pull itself free.

The other was a smaller yet definitely strong multi horned mage that erged from an earthen pillar, its long fingers ablaze with magic that was waiting to be used against us; with that we had two lee oriented undead and a magical undead to deal with, causing us to group up and begin taking things a lot more seriously.

Sera and I were directed towards the mage almost imdiately while the rest continued to block the advances of the two lee skeletons, who were rushing forwards with their weapons aid high.

Well, the scythe was raised high, because the other horned skeleton was simply spreading out its sharpened fingerbones and aiming for deep scratches or hoping to grab whover was in front of it, which would be a very valid tactic considering the rest of the undead around us.

There were still around two dozen of the normal skeletons remaining, which ant this was going to be quite the fight going forwards, especially since that scythe skeleton was already attempting to hook the long, jagged tal blade around Kha’Miero’s shield to reach the Draconian.

That forced her to constantly be on the move to avoid that blade, turning one part of our formation into a more ’liquid’ spot that the rest of the skeletons tried to take advantage of; a few of them rushed forwards and were promptly handled by either Lu’Shaki or Ishtarnii, who were moving to support Kha’Miero whenever they could.

Anwen danced around Sera and I as she made use of her magic to deflect so of the smaller attacks sent our way by the mage, but there was only so much she could do against the stronger attacks like the lightning bolts or gigantic chunks of stone that crashed towards us.

That was where Sera took over, the blonde mage utilizing her full magic arsenal as she worked on defense to give the ti to take aim and fire my arrows at the skeletal mage, trusting in to take care of it or, at the very least earning enough ti for one of the other larger skeletons to fall and alleviate so of the pressure that was being put onto us.

The arrows themselves were of little use against sothing like magically enhanced bone, but when amplified by so magic and aid at specific spots they suddenly were dealing an incredible amount of damage.

Trying to keep my cool and hit those specific spots was very difficult for though, since the sounds of fighting all around was jarring and the surges of fear whenever another of the skeletons entered my direct line of sight and looked at had shaking sowhat.

I tried to keep myself calm and steady but it was far too hard for , though whenever it got too bad I just scolded myself and told myself that I had to do this because the only other option was to let them get closer and attack .

Obviously I couldn’t have that happen so the remaining action for to take was to attack first, which ca with nocking another arrow and taking aim at the skeletal mage that was lingering around the fringes of the battlefield.

Lightning arced between its fingers as it prepared another spell, conjuring up sothing long winded and powerful since it had no worry at all about being dragged into the lee, though the mont it noticed looking at it the skeleton just molded the lightning into a sphere and zipped it towards .

Already it was arcing more and more lightning together as it prepared sothing else, but its azure eyes were locked to as it waited to witness the destruction that its spell would bring upon .

Sera leapt to my defense as she erected a shimring barrier of water that captured the lightning and dispersed it amongst a wide area, though maintaining such a large and dense shield of water was taxing.

To make sure she wasn’t wasting any of her energy or efforts, I gathered dense Earth Mana around the arrow and hardened it even more, shrouding the tip in rock and turning it into a blunt arrow.

Letting it loose, I watched as it arced through the air and past the water shield towards the skeletal mage, who was currently concentrating on the mana between its hands; it had a choice to make between either taking the hit from my arrow or disrupting its spell, which would have a high chance of backfiring thanks to that break in concentration.

Mana running rampant was a very dangerous thing that all mages had to work around, and it would seem that even as an undead the risk aversion worked much the sa as in everyone else since the ’devil you know’ is far more ’desirable’ than the one you don’t.

It was thinking it could take the damage from the arrow and still survive, but an explosion of lightning straight to the chest was definitely far more destructive than my arrow was, so the lesser risk was chosen.

That line of thinking was logical but it was also sowhat flawed since the arrow was aid at its sternum and not its head, cracking the thick central bone and sending tremors through the skeletons arms.

It was nowhere near enough to cause a disruption in the spell but it was enough for to empower another arrow and let it loose, this one packing just a little more of a punch as it was aid at the sa spot.

Back to back decisions were made and the skeleton mage made the sa decision both tis, though now it attempted to twist itself away from the arrow only to end up making a rather obvious mistake.

The flying club snapped its arm in two and disrupted the spell rather easily, causing a large discharge of Lightning Mana to explode right in front of the skeleton mage, blowing it apart and bringing an end to one of the three ’bosses’ we had faced.

Elation flooded my veins before I heard a sharp curse as Ishtarnii’s arm got caught by the skeleton brawler, her flesh sliced open in three spots and leaking a decent amount of blood right away.

I had no ti to celebrate since the mont that wound was ford most of the nearby skeletons all snapped towards her and launched themselves at her, sensing another weakness in our line.

Anwen rushed forwards, breaking the formation but coming to the aid of her long ti companion as she began to whittle down the numbers of the normal skeletons as best she could.

The mont she did that both Sera and I were left rather ’exposed’ to attacks, but with the wound on Ishtarnii acting as a sirens call to the undead, we were thankfully ’safe’ from everything, especially now that the skeleton mage was dead.

It still instilled that fear from earlier inside of though, so I focused hard on whittling down the chaff too since that was what I knew I could do without interrupting any sort of ’dance’ that the lee fighters might be in with the remaining bosses.

Arrow after arrow thunked against the remaining skeletons, cracking skulls and blowing off limbs as I gave aid to the wounded Bullkin and swift Harekin, while Sera weaved together a healing spell for Ishtarnii that brought her back to her prior power.

It wasn’t a perfect fix but it stymied the blood and helped bring us back to a sense of normalcy in this situation as they began to focus completely on the bosses, the remaining chaff getting dealt with by Anwen and I in due ti.

The scythe wielding skeleton was the next to fall, an ill tid slash towards Lu’Shaki opening up a gap that Kha’Miero exploited to crack off a few of its ribs, destabilizing it and allowing her to go in for a follow up strike.

A shield bash to the sternum and then a slash against its knee brought the skeleton down, and with it kneeling in front of her Kha’Miero slamd her shield straight down against its neck, snapping the spine and bringing an end to that skeleton.

anwhile Ishtarnii was getting her revenge on the skeleton brawler as she went blow for blow with it, parrying its jabs and scratches while chipping away at it with her greatsword, tearing off chunks of bone and gradually bringing it to the ground as well.

Just like Kha’Miero she went for the neck when the skeleton was kneeling before her, but her kill was far more ’stylish’ than the Draconian as she executed it with a single powerful cleave, lopping the brawler’s skull off and kicking it down afterwards.

All around us were bones from dozens upon dozens of skeletons, and none of us were looking forwards to sorting through them to potentially find so sort of ’special’ bone that might be worth so coin... but we had to since after all this fighting, not getting a reward of so kind would definitely sting.
