The string of curses that were released not long after all of the Spirits fled from the area were among so of the more creative ones that I had ever heard, and yet there was no ti nor spare ntal capacity for to really listen to them properly.
I just knew that things were being said that typically were taken as curses, and the few words that stood out were the usual; those words did nothing to the large green scaled monster that was slowly approaching with clear murderous intent, but it likely helped vent so of the frustration for my comrades.
That orange glow building up between its fang lined jaws was one of the larger causes for those curses, and since there wasn’t a whole lot of area around us nor ti to do much, we all began to funnel our mana together to create a wall between us and the monster.
It was a paltry defense that wasn’t going to block much, but it would buy us just a split second that we could use to get further away and therefore increase our chances of survival by a fair amount... so long as we didn’t draw more of this beast’s aggression towards ourself in particular.
When the gout of flas spilled out from its maw we all threw ourselves back and away from the Wyvern, creating so space between us that was filled a mont later with fla, which was only further fueled by the various leaves, twigs and other pieces of organic matter that lined the forest floor.
Scrambling back to my feet and dashing behind a tree, I swiftly laid an arrow on my bowstring and spun back around the trunk, taking aim quickly and letting that arrow fly towards the scaled head of our aggressor.
The arrow was simple steel of so kind and relatively unempowered by mana, so all it really did was shatter against the thick green scales of the Wyvern and draw its ire towards my direction, though it did cause the monster to stop breathing flas for a brief mont.
The oil it used to spew the flas wasn’t limitless, so it knew it needed to be careful with them to a certain degree if it eventually wanted to barbecue each of us into a tasty treat to devour later, which was a saving grace for us right now.
All we had to deal with instead were the gigantic sword like spikes attached to the ends of its wings as well as its razor sharp fangs that were capable of punching through most plate armor like it wasn’t even there...
So it was going to be an ’easy’ fight of us just dodging lee attacks... right..?
That was what a ’balanced’ enemy would be like, but real life rarely cared for things like balance... and that was sothing that the developers had believed in as well, so they had given Wyverns a small amount of spells to utilize too.
On top of being able to naturally produce so sort of oil that could get ignited by whatever happened in their throat, they could also cast so rudintary yet still very deadly spells whenever they pleased, and as a monster they had a really high pool of mana to draw from.
So instead of trying to bathe in flas again the monster just parted its jaws and spat out a small barrage of lightning that arced towards my tree, tearing at the ground and charring everything it touched.
Scrambling backwards again I barely managed to avoid the arcs of electricity, and although it wasn’t truly my intention this mad dash back towards another thicker tree had created a small opening for Bo’Katari and the others to use.
The older Orc dashed forwards with her blade and aid to pierce its thick hide, shrouding her weapon in a rapid gale of wind that tore at the scales before the blade even struck; a bolt struck nearby as well, cracking open one of the scales and drawing a roar from the monster, one that only got louder and angrier as another bolt punched through its armor an inch apart from the first.
Since its attention had shifted to the Orc beside it, I tried to steady my breathing and pulled out another arrow, thanking my previous self a dozen tis over as I stood far away from the fighting and had the privilege of being able to attack from range.
This ti I poured so mana into the arrow before letting it sail again, this ti dealing a little damage as it also punched through the scale, though the difference between what a bow could do and what a crossbow could do was apparent since it barely sank into the monster’s flesh.
It was a start though, and even just cracking one of those scales was an achievent for , let alone the fact that it created another opening for the others to use to land stronger attacks on the beast.
Letting out a roar and swinging its thick tail around, the Wyvern pushed everyone back a few steps so that it could flap its wings, bringing about a gale that battered our bodies and pushed us back even more.
It bought itself a mont to gather its mana once again, and this ti it incorporated its flas into the attack as it breathed a sea of electrified flas across the forest, swinging its head side to side as it covered as wide of an area as it could.
All of the leaves it had stirred up with the flapping of its wings were ignited, and with another flap it sent all of them towards us as a flurry of embers that obscured vision and spread the flas even further.
During that mont it was able to rear onto its legs and truly flap its wings, stirring up a storm that pelted us with these flaming bits of forest debris whilst also pushing us back more and more, all while it fanned its flas into a raging inferno.
