"Luck," Wang Wei answered without hesitation. "Given how dangerous the secret world sounds, luck is more important than strength. So, I suggest randomly selecting the spots."
"It’s a fast and efficient thod — I don’t have an issue," the Karma Root Sovereign nodded. The others soon agreed; they didn’t really care who participated, since none of their juniors or mbers of their factions had accompanied them.
"Can I take charge of the process?" Wang Wei asked. The others glanced at him and knew what he wanted to do, but no one stopped him. The young commander has proven to excel at his job. Although he’s a bit petty, the Tribunal Lords never have any complaints about him regarding his competence. On the contrary, Wang Wei’s existence has made their job easier since they usually just have to fight or follow the plan.
"We will depart in three hundred years," the Erudite Duchess reminded, and Wang Wei nodded. After the eting, he did not imdiately start the selection process. Instead, he waited for a while before privately visiting the duchess.
"Is there sothing you need?" she asked.
"How much of breaking the rules can you tolerate?" Wang Wei asked.
"What do you want to do?"
"Kill soone."
"Who?"
"Death Reverence."
"Reason?" the duchess asked.
"Does intuition count?" Wang Wei dared not lie to a Saint.
"It does not," the duchess shook her head. "I know he has a bad reputation and he’s probably hiding a great secret, but that’s not enough to justify killing him. The system needs to appear fair, even if it isn’t. If you want to kill him, you can’t be blatant about it."
Wang Wei sighed. He expected this outco, but he still had to try. Success would have ant he could have put a shoddy cri on Death Reverence’s head and used the full power of the array to eliminate him. However, since that wouldn’t work, he chose a different tactic.
"I want to exchange two talismans with the Lord," Wang Wei said. "A protective one and an offensive one, and they both need to contain your full power."
"Oh? And what do you plan to exchange with?" The Erudite Duchess asked with shining eyes. The last transaction imnsely benefited her. Maybe this ti will be another full haul.
"Have you heard of the origin of the [Hall of Records]?"
The duchess’s eyes squinted: "Most people think it was one of Grand Dao’s creations, but I know it was the work of a true Transcendent Being."
"Its na was the [Observer]," Wang Wei revealed. "Born as one of the most talented Genesis Creatures, and also the first being in our Chaos Universe to beco a [True Transcendent]. During his life, he recorded all laws, secrets, truths, and knowledge that he had observed.
"After his ascension, Grand Dao received his record and separated it into two: the first part was used as the backbone for the Grand Dao Source, while the second beca the [Hall of Records]."
"Observer...Record...Knowledge... So, a being who walked a similar path already exists? Can my path lead to true transcendence? Hahaha, my path is bright." There is no better news for a cultivator in the Saint Realm than knowing for certain that the path they are walking on is the correct path. So, after figuring out this truth, the duchess’s body released a profound aura as her state of mind was sublimated. More importantly, with this knowledge, her Dao Quintessence took a significant step forward, thus also increasing her strength.
’It seems the duchess’s path is different from Hong’er,’ Wang Wei thought. He had always worried that their path was similar, and eventually, the duchess would swallow Wu Hong’s Dao Fruit to sublimate herself. However, after today’s event, he realized how vastly different their paths were.
’The duchess purely focused on amassing knowledge. anwhile, Wu Hong wanted the knowledge so she could seal and control everything between Heaven and Earth,’ Wang Wei thought. ’I wonder about the [Observer]. From the limited information I have, its path seed to be about purely observing and recording with no interference whatsoever.’
The [Observer] and the [Duchess] are similar but also vastly different. While the duchess can do whatever is necessary to gather knowledge and build her library, the [Observer] only records things as they appear and never interferes, no matter the situation.
"Thank you," the Erudite Duchess said with the utmost sincerity.
"I’m only abiding by my part of our bargain," Wang Wei calmly stated.
"To you, this may be so, but for ..." the Duchess did not continue. With this information, she was confident she would find a future as a Grand Dao Saint. Then, all she needs to do is follow its trajectory to drastically increase the chances of reaching the third step.
"If the lord truly feels indebted to , how about canceling out my wife’s karmic debt with you?"
"Don’t even think about it," the Erudite Duchess imdiately denied. Wang Wei’s current strength was too weak to leave any karmic tie between them, but even if he could, the duchess would not allow Wu Hong’s debt to be paid so easily. The artifact she used to help Wu Hong comprehend a prototype of her Dao Quintessence was extraordinary beyond words. So, what is owed must be paid.
"Alright," Wang Wei sighed to himself.
"I’ll send the talismans before the opening," the Erudite Duchess said. "I guarantee it will be one of my best works."
"I trust your words, Lord," Wang Wei bowed. Now that everything had been dealt with, he did not stay long. Although these lords never deliberately released any aura, their re presence always made everyone feel pressure.
After returning to his headquarters, he exhaled deeply before summoning Saint Ink Fla. And not long afterward, a man with fla flashing in his eyes rushed into the room. Wang Wei served him tea and imdiately got down to the topic:
"Things have been hectic lately. Have you noticed?"
"Yes, there seems to be a lot of movent, but nothing has happened yet," Saint Ink Fla nodded.
"Do you know why?"
"Do tell."
"A secret realm," Wang Wei revealed. "And it may have been created by a Grand Dao Saint."
The flas in his eyes fluttered in excitent. "Us?"
"Yes, you can enter, and I’m in control of the selection process."
"Tell what you need."
Wang Wei smiled. He liked talking to smart people. "I need the help of a powerful Saint to kill soone. I will give them a second-step talisman to help them get the job. I will make arrangents for it to be done quietly, but if that’s not possible, I need it to be done no matter what. I’ll deal with the aftermath once I return."
Nurous thoughts flashed in Saint Ink Fla’s mind as he swiftly calculated the pros and cons of this deal. A few seconds later, he gritted his teeth and said, "I know soone who owes a great karmic debt. I can convince him to do it."
"Excellent. Who is it?" Saint Ink Fla waved his hand to show him the information. Wang Wei frowned as learning the person only had the strength of 11-pillars. However, given how Death Reverence was an Old Saint and the main killing weapon would be the Tribunal Saint Talisman, he did not dwell too much on the subject.
Wang Wei dismissed Ink Fla before proceeding with his job. The news soon spread about the secret realm, followed by a random lottery to determine the participants. Although so people complained that a tournant or other ans of determining strength should have been used as a criterion, most people accept the utilization of luck.
anwhile, Wang Wei ensured that Maitreya, Kong, Xu Shi, and Ink Fla had their spot, and Death Reverence was not chosen. As for the other people from his ho, he did not worry about them. Born of the Destiny Center World, these people were blessed by luck and chosen even without his interference.
Soon afterward, Ink Fla brought a man called Dou Xingge. He wore black, a sword slung over his back, and was decent-looking, but his features were marred by a cold expression that scread he was antisocial and wanted no one to co close to him. They signed a binding agreent, and Wang Wei handed over the talisman along with so instructions.
The three hundred years went by swiftly. For cultivators of their level, three centuries was shorter than a nap. Eternity was both a blessing and a curse. So, when the ti arrived, everybody followed the Tribunal Lords who instantly teleported them to their destination. The Infinite Divine Court and its people had already arrived, and both sides imdiately displayed maximum animosity at the re sight of each other.
Too much blood had been spilled in this expedition, especially on the court’s side. Wang Wei’s actions and plans were truly ruthless. Unfortunately, this is the price of war — especially such a high-level one.
While everybody was reacting to each other, Wang Wei was squinting his eyes: he imdiately noticed sothing as soon as he reached near the entrance.
