After Shichen finished cooking, he had Frieren and the others set the table, while he went to get Stark.
As soon as he reached the outskirts, the sound of fighting was crystal clear.
"I'm going to see how long you can keep dodging! I swear I'll chop those horns off!"
"..."
This kid wasn't getting a little obsessed, was he?
Shichen stopped outside the barrier. Stark didn't look crazed or reckless—his attack rhythm was steady.
He wasn't just swinging wildly.
"Stark, break ti."
"Big Bro? Wait, let cut their horns off first!"
"...You don't want lunch? I made it."
"I don't—what? You cooked, Big Bro? I'm coming!"
Stark instantly stopped attacking.
Shichen shook his head, dismissed the barrier, put away the puppets, and brought Stark back to the inn.
After lunch, he brought Stark right back out.
The guy was completely hooked on the whole horn-breaking thing. During the al, that was all he talked about. Frieren and the others couldn't even be bothered to respond.
After three days of exams, they needed so rest. Having Stark around would only annoy them.
Not that Stark wanted to stay at the inn anyway.
"Big Bro, wait!"
Just as Shichen was about to leave, Stark called out to him.
"What?"
"Add two more!"
"?" Shichen didn't get it at first.
"I an, give two more puppets. I want to fight four at once!"
"Seriously? You can barely handle two, and now you want four?"
"It's different. If there are more of them, I'll have a better chance of cutting the horns."
"Try not to get yourself killed."
"I know your puppets go easy on ."
"...You're serious?"
"Totally! If I don't do this, I'll never grasp the true essence of the Horn-Breaking Maniac. I'll never inherit his legacy!"
"...Do whatever you want."
Shichen didn't even want to ask anymore. He added two more horned puppets for Stark, then left.
He wasn't worried Stark would slack off. The guy trained hard. Up to this point, he hadn't slacked once.
Still, Shichen never expected him to get this obsessed with the Horn-Breaking Maniac.
Then again, it was understandable. Back when he was a kid, he'd been obsessed too—posing in bed every day like he was firing off special beams.
Everyone has that phase. Stark just hit it late, so his awakening ca late too.
Shichen got it.
When he returned to the inn, he found that Frieren and Fern were already asleep.
He thought it over. He hadn't really had a proper sleep in days either, so he decided to nap with them.
Very carefully, he lifted Frieren, climbed into Fern's bed with her, and lay down between them.
Frieren didn't wake up at all.
Normally, once she was asleep, she wouldn't wake easily—unless Shichen smacked her butt.
With soft, warm girls on both sides, it wasn't hard to fall asleep. Shichen drifted off quickly.
He hadn't been asleep long when soone woke him up.
It wasn't Frieren.
It wasn't Fern.
When Shichen opened his eyes, all he saw was green.
"Übel?"
"Ah~ Sorry, did I wake you?" Übel smiled sweetly, looking completely unashad.
"What exactly are you doing?" Shichen asked quietly.
Right now, Übel was sitting on top of him, looking down at him.
He definitely didn't want to wake Frieren and Fern. If they saw this, there'd be a whole scene.
Still, he hadn't expected Übel to climb right onto him.
"Nothing much~" Übel said.
"Nothing much? Looking like that?"
She was wearing a long sleepdress, and from his angle the neckline hung wide open, giving him a very clear view.
"I just wanted to sleep with you guys," she explained.
"Sleep with us?" Shichen looked at her oddly.
"We're on the sa team, aren't we? You three sleeping together while leaving out feels a little unfair."
"You're serious?"
"What's the problem?"
"You're playing with fire."
"Oh? Just how hot is this fire?"
"This hot."
As he said it, Shichen reached up, hooked a hand around the back of her neck, and pulled her down onto him.
Softness pressed against him.
Now they were face-to-face.
A flicker of panic flashed through Übel's eyes.
Shichen saw it and smiled. Then he pressed a hand to the back of her head.
"Mm!"
Übel's eyes widened as she stared at him from inches away.
Shichen answered her with a provocative look, then slipped past the barrier and tangled with her tongue.
"..."
Her mind went blank.
She'd never experienced anything like this before. She'd heard about it, sure, and she knew the general idea, but the real thing was on a completely different level.
It felt like electricity had run through her whole body. Her mind turned to mush.
So this was kissing.
And the part that scrambled her senses had only just begun.
Shichen was far too experienced. It didn't take much for him to use those skills and leave her floating.
A long while later, he finally pulled away.
"Ha... ha..." Übel panted heavily, resting her flushed cheek against his chest.
"Now do you get how hot it is?"
"Y-yeah..." Übel answered in broken breaths.
"So you still want to play with fire?"
"I do..."
"?"
By then, Übel had steadied her breathing a little. She lifted her head, smiled at him, and then kissed him first.
This ti, it was her turn to look smug.
Shichen raised a brow, watching her with interest.
Übel didn't back down. She copied what he'd just done and tangled her tongue with his.
Shichen stayed passive, curious to see what she'd do.
She really was talented. Just a mont ago she'd had no idea what she was doing, and now she was already taking the lead.
Maybe it was because she'd just been taught by soone very skilled.
Still, Übel hadn't sorted out her breathing yet. Before long, she had to pull back again.
"Ha... ha... This really does feel incredible," she said happily, resting her head on Shichen's chest again.
"Why so sudden?" Shichen asked.
"What?" Übel didn't even lift her head. She still had no strength.
"Why are you doing this with ?"
"Oh? Am I not allowed?"
"I don't mind. But you know what my situation is, right?"
"I do. It doesn't matter."
"Pretty broad-minded of you."
"Mostly, you're just interesting. You've got endless secrets and endless fun."
"That's not the only reason, is it?"
"No. It's also because of Fern provoking . She said you wouldn't be attracted to —that my charm couldn't compare to hers. So I decided to seduce you and show her what my charm can do."
"Girls' competitive streak is terrifying."
"What are you talking about? The one benefiting here is you."
"Fair point." Shichen admitted it easily.
"Answer —am I attractive?"
"Of course. Otherwise why do you think I agreed to let you join us in the first place?"
"So you were already eyeing from the start, huh~"
"Well... that's not wrong."
"Perfect. Then we can call this mutual attraction, right?" Übel asked with a grin.
"I don't know if I'd go that far."
"Close enough." Übel clearly didn't care about the distinction.
"Oh, and don't tell Fern about this yet."
"Hm?"
"There's sothing fun about keeping it secret. And the idea of Fern not knowing is especially satisfying~"
"You don't happen to have so weird kink, do you?" Shichen asked, eyeing her strangely.
"What weird kink?"
"Forget that. Let's continue."
