Chapter 792: Chapter 636: Void Mirror_3

Ye Shu squatted down, picked up the black pebble, and without further inspection, raised his head and swallowed it whole.

Baili An, feeling the change in Ye Shu’s aura, furrowed his brow in confusion and said, “He didn’t choose to keep you behind, why would you…”

Ye Shu smiled and replied, “If he truly didn’t want to choose, why would his earlier answer only ntion you? The psychological suggestion is quite clear. Why force him to spell it out?”

Baili An said, “I don’t understand, how can you go to such lengths?”

Ye Shu’s brows dipped, shrouded in a faint layer of sorrow, “His parents were both severely injured and fell sick trying to save . After all, the fall of the Marquis Mansion was due to my defeat. His obsession with revival is also sowhat because of . Lady Lin, on her deathbed, asked to take good care of him. I ought to do sothing for him.”

Baili An felt it strange that Ye Shu didn’t seem to bear much resentnt towards the Lin couple.

Ye Shu let out a slow breath and said, “I ask for your forgiveness. I had no intention of harming you when I led you into the mirror; I only hope Master Si Chen can help with one thing.”

“What is it?”

Ye Shu’s gaze shifted subtly and looked toward the land where the dragon lay, saying, “When the Netherworld Dragon awakens, these white bones and skeletons will turn to dust. The skull of my mother is the primary formation bone of this underground palace, placed within the Dragon Vein’s bone bridge. Master Si Chen has Yin Jade with him, so he’ll be able to extract my mother’s skull without harming her soul,”

“O wretched are the parents, for their toil in bearing . I beseech you, Master, to help my mother rest in peace!”

Bone is kin to flesh, and wishes would follow it forever.

In the end, Ye Shu’s reason for abandoning his dignity to beco a slave in the realm was actually simpler and purer than Lin Zheng’s.

Baili An’s hands tightened around his Jade Flute unconsciously, as if touched by the heavy lancholy implied in Ye Shu’s faint request, a sense of shared grief and dejection began to rise in his heart.

He remained silent for a mont before finally speaking slowly, “Where would you like to bury her?”

Ye Shu was taken aback, seemingly not expecting such a far-reaching thought. It gave him a sense of rare goodwill. A light but very sincere smile curled at his lips, “On South Hill, by the Baixi River, it’s where my mother and father first t. She loved that place dearly.”

“…Alright.”

The Dragon Vein bone bridge that Ye Shu spoke of was situated just below the head of the giant dragon, resembling a collar of white bones constraining the Black Dragon’s neck.

Each skull here released an immortal soul fire from its brow, a symbol of those cursed to never find peace.

Thousands upon thousands of skulls lay here, the skulls of heinous criminals from the Demon Sect through the ages. To find one specific skull would be exceedingly difficult, yet Ye Shu had, in the short ti since departing, located his mother’s skull.

This spoke volus about the deep and fervent love he held for his mother.

Feng Ju intended to use the skull of the Demon Sect’s Saintess to control Ye Shu and thus evaded Ye Shu’s request, never considering that Ye Shu could truly find his kin amongst millions.

Baili An stood atop the cold Dragon Scales, playing the Jade Flute, the mournful notes of the Soul Summoning Song, commonly used by cultivators of the Mortal World.

Guided by Ye Shu’s blood, a skull dislodged from the bridge and floated towards them.

Ye Shu stared at the skull, a lump forming in his throat. His pale expression, like a newborn animal full of anticipation, seed to co to life as if his puppet-like indifferent face had been infused with vitality.

He carefully and tightly embraced the skull as if it were a precious treasure, holding it for a long ti as if seeking a hint of warmth he had longed for through the chilling bone.

Wordlessly, he knelt on the dragon’s back, his shoulders trembling slightly from his extre thinness, revealing a pitiable curve at the back of his neck.

Baili An thought he would cry, but Ye Shu remained as silent as ever, even with grief that cut to the bone, a man who showed no outward sign of distress.

After a while, he stood up and solemnly handed the skull to Baili An, his voice hoarse, “Thank you, truly… thank you.”

Baili An knew the small skull carried a heavy significance for Ye Shu. To receive such an important relic from soone he barely knew for only a few days reflected an unspeakable trust.

He carefully took care of the skull, asking, “What was your mother’s na? I can help you set up a headstone for her.”

Baili An could not see, so he missed the fleeting vulnerability and imnse sadness in Ye Shu’s eyes at that mont. Ye Shu’s throat moved slightly as he replied softly, “There’s no need. It’s just a common na, no need to hold onto.”

Yet Baili An was particularly puzzled, for he felt Ye Shu did care, and was very much concerned with complex emotions.

But reason and upbringing prevented him from prying further.

“Feng Ju set this life and death trap to lure the living into the Demon Sect for the sake of absorbing Demonic Qi, to reverse yin and yang and beco a True Demon to return to the world. Now that I’ve found the sixth sword, all I need is to seal the Dragon Slayer Sword into the Netherworld Dragon’s heart, and Feng Ju’s sche will co undone without a whisper.”

As Ye Shu spoke, he seed quite at ease, showing no guilt or remorse for betraying his uncle. He glanced at Baili An with a half-smiling, admiring expression, “I see the Master, faced with dire circumstances, is indeed unshakable. It seems you’ve already seen through my ability to find the sixth Dragon Slayer Sword.”

Baili An laughed, “The more critical the mont, the less useful it is to be anxious. Better to calm down and think, and often a way opens up.”

Ye Shu nodded, intending to take Baili An back to Dragon Heart Land to fulfill his destiny, but no sooner had he summoned the Void Mirror than the Black Dragon beneath them, which had been growing slowly like a mountain, suddenly roared at the sky. The air around vibrated fiercely, the piercing wind howled, and large scales like huge fans of screens stood angrily, spewing billows of fire and smoke.

In the close darkness, the slowly-opening dragon pupils suddenly accelerated, the large vertical pupils eerily moving under the eyelids.

A chill ran through Ye Shu’s body, and his face turned ghostly pale as a cold dread shot to the top of his head.

The Netherworld Dragon was awakening faster than expected!

But how could this be!

He hadn’t even taken the Dragon Ball yet!

The Void Mirror flickered with mysterious light, pulling both of their bodies into its world within. The next mont, Baili An and Ye Shu appeared on the outskirts of the Dragon Heart Land.

The mont their feet touched the ground, Dragon Blood spurted like rain, pattering between the rising scales.
