Chapter 975: Chapter 718: God of Wealth

The town situated on the outskirts of the desolate mountains and swamps is called ‘Muqiu City.’ Even before entering the city, one can tell that this place is remote and impoverished. The city walls, piled and built from mud and stone, reveal a certain backwardness and barrenness.

Even the guards on the city wall are aging n. Their armor is old and worn, and the iron spears held in their hands are chipped and weathered. The setting sun casts a shadow behind the city, and the entire town exudes an air of despondency.

Upon entering the city, Baili An realized that her deliberate landing outside the city was indeed an unnecessary effort.

At this mont, the city is crowded with cultivators from various regions. They are dressed differently, and both sides of the long street are lined with shops, with the inn almost filled to capacity.

While walking down the street, Baili An could see the occasional Sword Rainbow descending from the sky. Despite the abundance of cultivators in this city, many still arrive flying Sword Flight.

The townsfolk, although with awe in their eyes, seem accustod to such scenes. It appears that sword-wielding cultivators arriving at the city is not a new occurrence.

The city vendors continually shout out their wares, and the bustling marketplace is filled with ox carts and horse carts.

However, inside these carts, behind wooden bars, were not chickens and ducks, but demons adorned with shackles and talismans.

Most of the cultivators entering the city are sword cultivators. They are genuinely interested, gathering around those ox carts and horse carts, comnting on the demons in the prison carts as if selecting rchandise.

The owner of the horse carts, the rchant, is also a cultivator. In his hand, he holds an iron rod embedded with a Fire Spirit Stone, continuously waving it and commanding the demons in the prison carts to raise their heads for the watching cultivators to admire.

If any happen to be disobedient, the iron rod in his hand would ruthlessly stab through the wooden bars, the Fire Spirit Stone at the tip infused with Spiritual Power, burning red-hot, pressing onto their bodies. Amidst the anguished screams, the sll of scorched flesh instantly spreads, causing the other demons to shriek in terror.

“You worthless demon scum! When such a great fortune and opportunity are right before your eyes, why don’t you behave? If you’re fortunate enough to be chosen by these esteed individuals, and attain cultivation, you should thank !”

The Bat Demon, convulsing on the ground from being stabbed by the red-hot iron rod, was undoubtedly hardheaded. Half its face was scorched, a pair of sharp, hideous Tusks bared ferociously, glaring at the rchant with a fierce gleam.

“You vile demon dare to glare at !” the rchant sneered, rcilessly poking the iron rod on her face.

“Ah—ah—ah——————” The sizzling sound of flesh being burned frightened the other demons imnsely, their faces turning pale as they lowered their heads.

The bat demon’s left eye was burned into a scorched ss, black and red blood burst forth, horrifying at the mont.

“Hey, hey, we’re still selecting here, be gentle. Hurt to this extent, do you want our master to take a blind corpse back?” Among the crowd, a cultivator imdiately voiced discontent, not out of pity for the miserable-looking demon, but upset that the item he favored was damaged.

The rchant quickly smiled apologetically, “No need to worry, sir. This Bat Demon has pure bloodlines, with a ferocious nature that is hard to find. Without a heavy hand, it’s difficult to ta the wildness. Besides, demons are ant for cultivators to use for Soul Attachnt, irrelevant to the quality of the body. As long as this demon can survive to Sacrificial Sword, it’s not wasted.”

The rchant spoke with conviction, as if demons were born with the fate of being used in human Blood Sacrifices for weapons.

The surrounding people also chid in.

“Yeah, just a fierce demon, what’s there to pity? As long as it isn’t killed, when it’s near death, it will be even more obedient, better for taking back to refine for sacrifices.”

“Indeed, if the Demon Trainer doesn’t have so skills, dealing with these demons daily would have left them eaten with no bones remaining long ago.”

Soone even cheered and said warmly, “Good teaching! Co on, give those two little demons I’ve got my eye on a few rods too, beat them into submission so I can take them away.”

The rchant clearly intended to showcase his thods, laughing a few tis before cruelly striking with the iron rod.

In the carts, naturally so weaker demons couldn’t withstand the brutality. The iron rod charged with Spiritual Power jabbed heavily, and so had their spines directly punctured, crying out relentlessly, collapsing, never to rise again.

Demons unable to bear the torture indicated weak Life Force and were considered defective pieces for sacrificial tools, quickly ushered out to free space, thrown out of the carts.

The demons tossed down from the carts, who had breathed their last, barely had any good at on them, exuding the foul stench of death and decay.

Though those lowly demons weren’t liked by cultivators of status, many Loose Cultivators with low Realm in the city were keenly interested, dragging the corpses into alleyways to begin skinning and boning, dividing the demon bones akin to distributing hunted prey cleanly.

These inferior demon bones are of little interest to Demon Trainers, but for those without background and just starting the cultivation path, they are indeed a considerable fortune.

The mortal town, crowded with cultivators due to demons, almost filled the entire street, the bustling crowd growing ever more lively.

Everyone watching the spectacle, chewing on sunflower seeds, incessantly marveling, verbally praising these cultivators for their righteous act of eliminating threats for the people.

The young Bamboo Demon watched the scenes in the city with clear eyes, the gnashing of teeth evident on her fresh little face, looking particularly poignant. She clenched her fists tightly, ignoring the wounds on her arms that ruptured, the bloodstained clothes, angrily saying, “Do you think, in a world like this, anyone would be willing to heal a demon?”
