"Tengen beca a... Cursed Spirit???"

How explosive was that statent?

It was like Saint Seiya fighting to the death to protect Athena, battling his way from Poseidon to Hades, taking on every god no matter whose side they were on, beating down every last one of them and declaring himself the bane of the gods.

Only to suddenly look back and realize. Oh, right, Athena is a god too.

And the final boss, Apollo, is Athena's half-brother?

What the hell is that supposed to an? If all of you are on the sa side, then what was the point of , Saint Seiya, even existing? Doesn't that just make a complete clown?

That was exactly how Yuki Tsukumo felt right now.

After all, Tengen was the mortal enemy of all Cursed Spirits. Without Tengen-sama, humanity would have long suffered under the ravages of Cursed Spirits. It was this immortal legend who, through years upon years of effort, established Barrier techniques across all of Japan, concentrating most of the world's Cursed Energy in this island nation and bringing peace to the world.

Yuki Tsukumo had often wondered whether humanity's future might have been better off if Tengen had not used Barrier techniques to confine Cursed Energy to Japan, and had instead let it disperse throughout the entire world.

The world was peaceful now, yes, but Cursed Spirits still existed, and in this country they were growing ever more rampant. At any mont, they could throw the world back into chaos.

And the number of humans who could beco sorcerers was pitifully small.

Because after Tengen's little move, most people born with [Innate Technique] would only be born in Japan. Other countries were spared from Cursed Spirits, but at the sa ti, they were also cut off from jujutsu.

A few sorcerers still appeared from ti to ti, but they were only a tiny minority.

The total number of sorcerers was shrinking year by year.

That was why Yuki Tsukumo was so determined to eliminate Cursed Spirits.

If things kept going like this, then sooner or later the Cursed Spirits would kill off all the sorcerers, and sorcerers would go extinct completely.

And once that happened, no matter how exceptional Tengen's Barrier techniques were, the Cursed Spirits would still break through in the end and begin slaughtering defenseless civilians.

But now you were telling her that Tengen, the one who protected all humanity, was actually a Cursed Spirit?

How was that any different from your own base crystal getting blown up?

What Yuki Tsukumo had originally feared was that after living for over a thousand years, Tengen might have forgotten its original purpose and fallen into sothing like the demonic being Kenjaku had beco.

Because assimilating with a Star Plasma Vessel was not just about extending its lifespan. It also ant absorbing everything the Star Plasma Vessel thought and felt.

If Yuki Tsukumo had chosen to assimilate with Tengen back then, her soul would have been absorbed by Tengen, and Tengen's entire way of thinking would have been drastically altered by this blonde beauty. Could you imagine a venerable old senior of the jujutsu world suddenly turning overnight into so sex-starved, unbearable woman?

That was why Yuki Tsukumo truly did not want to assimilate with Tengen.

It was the sa logic as dying without deleting your browser history!!!

So this Special Grade Sorcerer had often wondered. What if one generation's Star Plasma Vessel had evil thoughts, anti-human thoughts, or severe depression?

The Tengen that was once devoted to protecting humanity might already have stopped being itself long ago.

Its existence had gradually begun to change, evolving toward an irreversible form.

Until it beca a cold machine that had no emotions and could only think rationally.

In other words, a god with no concept of good or evil.

But even then, Yuki Tsukumo had never imagined that Tengen could actually turn into a Cursed Spirit.

"Where exactly did you get that information?"

"Hmph. Woman, the Zenin family's thods are far beyond your imagination."

"Tch."

Yuki Tsukumo clicked her tongue in disgust.

She was not a stupid woman, and she quickly understood why.

Back then, Tengen's assimilation with Riko Amanai had been interrupted by Toji Fushiguro. Although Satoru Gojo ultimately defeated him, the assimilation that only happened once every five hundred years had still failed in the end.

It seed that because of that incident, the Zenin family had gotten involved and learned Tengen's true condition.

"Because of that failed assimilation, Tengen has already evolved into a life-form similar to a Cursed Spirit."

Naoya Zenin was more than happy to dump every bit of the bla onto the Zenin family.

So he calmly started spoiling Tengen's current state for Yuki Tsukumo.

"Because Toji Zenin, who possessed a [Heavenly Restriction], was a being with absolutely no Cursed Energy, he slipped free of fate.

He was like a bug that should never have existed in this world. He severed the thousand-year causal bond between the Star Plasma Vessel, the Six Eyes, and Tengen. Tengen can no longer assimilate with the Star Plasma Vessel. Its body has begun to age rapidly, and its sense of self is gradually fading. Step by step, it's becoming sothing inhuman."

"So it's already reached the worst-case scenario?"

Yuki Tsukumo imdiately grasped how serious the problem was.

"...Has Tengen already beco humanity's enemy?"

"This is all your fault. If you hadn't refused to assimilate with Tengen, things would never have turned out like this."

Naoya Zenin's brutally precise hit tore straight through Yuki Tsukumo's defenses.

She could not even hold her cigarette anymore. Her fingers started trembling violently, and her expression kept shifting.

"Tengen... Why didn't it tell this? If it had just told back then, then I wouldn't have..."

"And what would telling you have changed?"

Naoya Zenin sneered.

"Stop passing the buck, Yuki Tsukumo. Things are already beyond saving. What you should be thinking about now is how to clean up this ss."

"...You're not planning to kill Tengen, are you?"

Yuki Tsukumo's face changed instantly.

"No way! Control over all of Japan's large-scale Barrier techniques is in Tengen's hands! If Tengen dies, the Cursed Energy maintaining those Barrier techniques will disappear completely! Once that happens, the Cursed Spirits will go completely berserk. It'll be a disaster even worse than [Night Parade of a Hundred Demons]! And when that happens, it won't just affect this country. The entire world will get dragged into it!"

"Who said anything about killing Tengen?"

Naoya Zenin thought Yuki Tsukumo really was an ungrateful wretch.

No, seriously. So that was your real first thought?

Even Kenjaku was not planning to kill Tengen, and here you were, ready to blow up your own base crystal the second you walked in.

"Even though Tengen has fallen into becoming a Cursed Spirit, for the ti being it still retains its old sense of self and can still be reasoned with. As long as soone is gradually sent in to take over control of its Barrier techniques, then the problem is not that serious."

"Please, don't scare like that, okay?"

Yuki Tsukumo let out a long breath of relief. She had only just shot Naoya Zenin an annoyed glare when the next thing this young man said nearly scared her senseless.

"But that also ans [Cursed Spirit Manipulation] can capture Tengen directly!"

Naoya Zenin's tone turned grave.

"Kenjaku's ultimate goal is to take over Suguru Geto's corpse and use [Cursed Spirit Manipulation] to absorb Tengen completely and turn it into his pawn!"

"How is that possible?! What the hell is Kenjaku trying to do?!"

"Kenjaku wants to use the Barrier techniques established by Tengen and convert the Barrier techniques that protect all humanity into one massive ascension ritual."

Under Yuki Tsukumo's stunned gaze, Naoya Zenin finally said it.

"He's going to force the humans of this country to assimilate with Tengen and fuse them into a terrifying Cursed Spirit the likes of which history has never seen before!"

"In other words. The [Culling Ga]!"
