Now reading: Chapter 1 1: Edo from Jujutsu Kaisen: Reincarnated as Hajime Kashimo, a Action novel by DemonicFiction.

The sun was setting on the Edo period, and the scent of blood drifted through the mountain air.

A boy sat on a flat stone by the stream. His white robe was stained with dust, and his light blue hair was tied into a high, ssy knot. As he turned his head, the fading light caught the jagged purple markings beneath his eyes. They looked like bruised ink against his pale skin.

Behind him, several bodies lay scattered in the grass. They were beaten beyond recognition.

"This is nowhere near enough," the boy muttered. He scratched his head, looking genuinely annoyed.

His na was Haji Kashimo. Seventeen years had passed since he died in a sterile hospital ward, his body wasted by leukemia. When he opened his eyes again, he found himself in the world of Jujutsu Kaisen, four centuries before the main story was even supposed to begin. He had started looking for trouble at the age of thirteen. He had no intention of being sliced into pieces by Sukuna in the future, and by now, he had already surpassed the strength of the original Kashimo from the manga.

"Are you satisfied, then?"

The voice was quiet, accompanied by the soft crunch of dead leaves. A man walked into the clearing with a cat-like grace. A jagged row of stitches ran across his forehead, marking his skin like a centipede.

Kashimo didn't look up. "I thought you were bringing soone with actual teeth, Brain-matter."

The man paused for a fraction of a second. "This vessel isn't suited for combat," Kenjaku replied, his tone remaining perfectly level. "If you truly want a fight..."

"I should have fought you when you were in your last body," Kashimo interrupted, finally glancing over. His violet-rimd eyes were cold. "You looked like you could actually hold your own back then."

Kenjaku didn't bother to argue.

Kashimo let it go. "Whatever. This Six Eyes user you ntioned. Where is he?"

"With the Gojo clan."

"I know he's a Gojo." Kashimo hopped off the rock, his white hem fluttering in the twilight. "I'm asking for a location. Is he in Kyoto?"

Kenjaku gave a slight nod. "The current Ten Shadows user is there as well."

Kashimo stepped forward until he was standing directly in front of the sorcerer. He was half a head shorter than Kenjaku, but the intensity in his eyes made the air feel heavy.

"I'll kill them both for you," Kashimo said. "I don't care what you do with your Culling Ga, but in exchange, you're going to teach every barrier technique you know."

Kenjaku was silent for a mont. "A trade?"

"A binding vow."

Kenjaku smiled. The stitches on his forehead twisted with the movent, but the expression was one of genuine satisfaction. It was a bargain he couldn't refuse.

"I accept."

Kashimo didn't stay to talk. He walked past the sorcerer and disappeared into the lengthening shadows of the trees. Kenjaku remained in the clearing, staring at the unrecognizable remains on the ground for a long ti.

Kashimo didn't waste ti. He flooded his legs with cursed energy and turned into a pale blur, sprinting toward Kyoto. The wilderness of the 1600s was even more desolate than he had imagined. Low-level curses lunged at him from the brush, but they were shredded by the sheer pressure of his passing energy before they could even scream.

Soon, he noticed the silence.

The woods had gone deathly quiet. The insects stopped chirping, the birds fell silent, and even the rustle of the leaves felt muffled.

Kashimo skidded to a halt, his sandals carving deep furrows into the dirt. He looked around, then reached down to pick up a thick wooden branch. He weighed it in his hand before propping it over his shoulder.

"Co out," he called into the stillness. "I'm in a hurry, and I have a very short fuse."

The sound of a heavy branch snapping echoed from above. Kashimo looked up.

Perched in the canopy of a massive tree was a white, towering figure. The creature was muscular and pale, with two gnarled branches sprouting from its eye sockets.

"Hanami?" Kashimo said the na aloud.

So the rumors were true. These disaster curses really did cycle through the world every century or so.

"Humans... must... perish..."

Hanami's voice sounded like the grinding of dry wood. In an instant, a massive network of roots erupted from the ground, weaving together into a dense net that closed in on him.

Kashimo lunged. He didn't retreat. He ran directly up the attacking vines, his speed never faltering as wood shattered behind him. Within seconds, he was in the curse's face.

He poured cursed energy into his wooden club and swung. The blow caught Hanami square in the face, knocking the massive creature off balance. Kashimo let go of the stick, grabbed one of the branches on the curse's head, and used the montum to drive a punch into its jaw.

One hit.

Hanami's head snapped back. Kashimo spun in mid-air, delivering a heavy kick to the creature's midsection that echoed through the clearing.

Two hits.

Hanami crashed into the ground, creating a shallow crater. It struggled to stand, half of its face caved in and purple blood leaking from the cracks in its wooden skin. It raised its hands to form a sign.

"Domain Expan—"

Before it could finish the sentence, its head exploded.

This was the unique property of Kashimo's cursed energy. It functioned like a lightning strike that never missed. Once he landed enough physical blows to build a charge, he could trigger an electrical discharge that detonated the target from the inside.

Hanami's headless body swayed for a mont.

Kashimo jumped down from the trees and picked up his charred, cracked wooden stick. He stood over the stump of the curse's neck, watching as it tried to knit itself back together. Without a word, he raised the club again.

One. Two. Three.

He didn't stop until the white body was nothing more than a pile of purple sludge.

The forest grew quiet again. Kashimo tossed the broken remains of the stick aside and brushed the splinters off his clothes.

"What a waste of ti."
