Now reading: Chapter 597 Incense Guard Wuxian from Junior sister, keep forbear for a while, I almost become invincible as soon!, a Eastern novel by A sprig of Mesona.

The Qin Clan, Mu Clan, and Snake Demon.

Three great Demon Race powerhouses congregated, amassing over ten thousand mbers, along with a Disciple of the Demon Emperor, Crimson Mulberry, making their lineup formidable.

But how much ti had passed?

In less than a month, they had been entirely defeated.

When the news swept across the Northern Border lands, all of the Demon Race were stunned.

"Who did it?"

"Did the Human Race Alliance take action?"

"It doesn’t seem like it..."

"Rumor has it, the Wuji Sect sent over a dozen people."

The crowd murmured, sensing sothing amiss. Sothing was fishy.

The Human Race Alliance hadn’t made a move, and the Wuji Sect had sent just over a dozen people; there was no way they could annihilate more than ten thousand Demon Race powerhouses, especially with a Disciple of the Demon Emperor among them.

Deep within the Emperor Clan Qin Family, a middle-aged man with a resolute face wore an angry expression. "Damn it..."

Below, more than a dozen high-ranking family mbers remained as silent as cicadas in winter.

The complete annihilation of more than ten thousand individuals, without a single survivor, was unprecedented in the Demon Race’s history of warfare. It was a disgrace. What made them feel even more humiliated was that, according to the news, the Human Race Alliance hadn’t lifted a finger. This ant... the more than ten thousand Demon Race powerhouses could very well have been obliterated by the re dozen or so from the Wuji Sect.

"My lord..." At that mont, a Qin Family powerhouse hurried over. "The Spirit Qi deep in Dayan has begun to loosen! Lord Demon Emperor will soon be revived!"

Oh? The middle-aged man narrowed his eyes. "How much longer?"

He could hardly wait.

The man replied, "At most three months, at least one month."

It was common knowledge that the Demon Race of the Northern Border were not united. Even the Emperor Clan Qin Family couldn’t command them all; only with the Demon Emperor’s revival...

Of course, before the Demon Emperor fell into slumber, they had launched nurous invasions. But alas, the Demon Race had never been able to breach the Human Clan’s line of defense. The primary reason was their inability to truly unify internally; even with the Demon Emperor’s authority, dissenting voices persisted. Secondly, they lacked a justifiable reason or pretext, and without the moral high ground, their military spirit faltered.

But this ti was different. Chen Pingping had slain Qin ng, cut down Crimson Mulberry, and decimated over ten thousand Demon Race powerhouses. This was tantamount to declaring war on the Northern Border Demon Race and, moreover, a direct provocation to the Demon Emperor.

The Emperor Clan Qin Family knew their opportunity had arrived. If they could seize it and unite the Demon Race, they could inevitably breach the Human Clan border, infiltrate the Southern Diaspora region, sweep aside all opposition, and ultimately occupy Human Clan territory with impunity.

"Send out the order: all Qin Family mbers are to refrain from acting rashly for the next three months. They must not linger near the Human Clan border, nor provoke the Human Clan..." the middle-aged man’s face was stern.

In that mont, he suddenly cald. Three months was not a long ti.

「Demon Race, Southern Region.」

In a hinterland isolated by mountain ranges lay an Ancient City. The city walls were not tall, rely three to five ters, built from earth, with many parts collapsed. They looked less like city walls and more like the enclosure of a mud-brick compound. The buildings within the Ancient City were similar: mostly earthen houses, sporadically situated, all appearing so dilapidated and old that it resembled a village more than a city. There were about three hundred hos, with a sparse population of just over a thousand, averaging three to four people per family.

What was eerie was that in the center of the Ancient City stood a tall statue. It depicted a woman in a long black gown, her face serene, long hair draped over her shoulders, her graceful figure exuding majesty and elegance. The statue was strikingly lifelike. A pair of enigmatic eyes gazed towards the city’s main entrance, emanating great authority. At its feet, two characters were inscribed: "Demon Emperor."

Very strange. In the depths of the Demon Race’s Southern Region, such a decrepit Ancient City worshipped a statue of a Demon Emperor, rather than a great figure of the Demon Race. The area below was laden with offerings of fruit, food, and burning incense.

Several old n knelt in worship, muttering, "Lord Demon Emperor! We have waited for you for thousands of years. When will you return?" They were short, dressed simply, with ordinary faces, yet as they knelt, devotion filled each countenance. In their hearts, they held genuine respect for this Lord Demon Emperor.

Nearby, a stout woman with a puffy face pleaded, "Lord Demon Emperor, please, make a bit thinner!"

And a child of seven or eight asked, "Milord, may I have a toy?"

On the high walls, a young boy of about eleven or twelve, slim and wrapped in beast skin, wore straw sandals. His face was youthful and handso. His blue eyes gazed into the distance as he clutched a handmade wooden sword—three feet long, two fingers wide, its surface uneven. From behind, he looked rather comical, yet his distant gaze was utterly serious.

Just then, a child of about seven or eight ran up behind him. "Report, Great General Wuxian! The Demon Race from the Northern Border has launched an attack! The Demon Emperor has been revived and is leading an army of millions into our Southern Region territory! I implore the Great General to dispatch troops to resist!"

Though young, his speech and reporting style were practiced. It wasn’t hard to guess they had played this ga many tis before.

Standing on the city wall, Wuxian raised his eyebrows and said coolly, "General Anan, I grant you permission to lead troops against the Northern Border invasion. Go!"

"Yes, sir!" The eight-year-old child ran off.

But before long, he ca running back, complaining, "Wuxian, when will Lord Demon Emperor rember us?"

"General Anan, mind your words," Wuxian said, keeping a straight face. "Lord Demon Emperor has not forgotten us. She is always looking for the way back. You must believe in her."

"But—"

"No ’buts’..."

"Wuxian, why don’t we... burn that half-stick of incense?" Anan blinked, eager.

"Audacious!" Wuxian scolded sharply. "The safeguard Lord Demon Emperor left us is not to be used lightly! If the Demon Race from the Northern Border attacks, how will we defend ourselves?"

"If we don’t burn that half-stick of incense, Lord Demon Emperor won’t be able to find us," Anan said, looking aggrieved.

They were of the Demon Race, yet they worshipped this Demon Emperor. Long ago, she had co to their rescue and settled them here. Before she left, she instructed them, "Never leave this place, no matter what. Wait for my return."

Since then, a powerful lineage of the Demon Race had vanished from the sight of the other Demon Races in the Southern Region.

Indeed, at that ti, they were incredibly powerful, known as the second most powerful race after the Emperor Clan, possessing a strong legacy and potent bloodlines. But as ti passed, everything withered away without warning. Perhaps complacency caused their cultivation to decline and their bloodlines to gradually dilute. Or perhaps the environnt was unsuitable, lacking Spirit Qi.

Over ti, the clan living here seed to have forgotten their past glory and strength, but they never forgot the Demon Emperor’s instructions. Every so often, this Ancient City would produce a passionate youth like Wuxian, gazing into the distance, waiting for the Demon Emperor.

Of course, Wuxian had another role: Incense Guard.

"Anan, bring my stead bun, quick! I’m starving." He jumped down from the city wall, his previous coolness and dignity vanishing entirely, leaving only a terribly hungry young boy.

Anan nodded, took out the stead bun he had been carrying, and said, "Wuxian, I heard the elders in the city say our clan once ruled the Northern Border, a powerful force second only to the Emperor Clan. Do you think... it’s true?"

Wuxian glanced sideways. "Of course, it’s true," he said solemnly. "As an Incense Guard, the purest bloodline flows within , equivalent to royal lineage! Once Lord Demon Emperor returns and leads us into the Northern Border to slay their Demon Emperor, you’ll be the strongest child under the royal household. Understand?"

Ah? Anan looked puzzled, but his excitent surged at the ntion of "the strongest child." It was an impressive title.

While Wuxian munched on his stead bun, Anan was already lost in a daydream, envisioning their Lord Demon Emperor returning, leading them into the Northern Border, and taking control. At that ti, wouldn’t he be able to eat as many stead buns as he wanted?

Anan chuckled and started to drool. After a while, he snapped back to his senses and suddenly noticed a figure on the distant land. He opened his eyes wide and exclaid, "Wuxian, there’s soone!"
