Progenitor Tingyou’s Qi trace was still rising, but Lü Yang remained calm. He knew perfectly well that his Tingyou’s condition was not much different from his own--without a physical body, leaving only a soul.
In order to beco the Corpse Shed Immortal, his own physical form was still in transformation. Compared to Progenitor Tingyou, his condition was only marginally better.
However, since he had dared to take the initiative and confront Tingyou, he was naturally fully confident of victory.
"Demon Yin Thunder!"
Progenitor Tingyou’s expression was frosty as he uttered a Daoist incantation and ford a hand seal. In an instant, thunder erupted from the void, and a bolt of lightning crackled down toward Lü Yang.
This ti, Lü Yang didn’t face the attack head-on. He silently used his Sword Technique, manifesting a Sword Light beneath his feet. At the sa ti, he summoned his Blood Sun Sword Pill and sent it flying a hundred miles. From there, he split off another Sword Light. Finally, using the Sword Light Shifting Technique from his Supre Heaven Sword Mastery, he vanished in a flash, reappearing at the new location a hundred miles away.
BOOM!
With a deafening crash, Lü Yang saw the bolt of lightning strike the City of the Wronged Dead below. In an instant, it shattered several city districts and churned up a massive amount of corpses and blood.
Yet, not a single soul erged from the carnage. They had all been completely annihilated.
’A Thunder Skill that specifically targets souls...’
Lü Yang’s eyes narrowed. Thunder was fundantally the most yang and unyielding force of Heaven and Earth. However, when one extre is reached, a reversal occurs; the most yin and supple energy could also give birth to imnse bolts of lightning.
’Progenitor Tingyou’s Demon Yin Thunder is clearly this type of technique. He must have seen through my vulnerable state and is using a tailored counter. He’s trying to corrupt my soul with this Thunder Skill. If that bolt hits , this Combat is as good as lost.’
At this thought, Lü Yang once again split his Sword Light, scattering the beams in all directions.
"The Sword Escape Technique?"
Progenitor Tingyou glanced over and sneered. "The Sword Escape of the Celestial Sword Pavilion may be the fastest in the world, but as long as it’s a technique, there’s a way to break it."
"With all the conflicts we had with the Sword Pavilion, how could we not be familiar with this technique?"
"Besides, you don’t seem particularly proficient in Swordsmanship. How dare you show off such petty tricks in front of ."
With that, he pointed a finger.
From his fingertip, a torrent of dark light surged forth, blotting out the sky. At a closer look, the light was ford by countless Wu Ghosts, their numbers no fewer than Lü Yang’s beams of Sword Light!
Each Wu Ghost latched onto a beam of Sword Light.
And when Lü Yang used his Sword Escape to leave the battlefield again, Progenitor Tingyou perford a hand seal as well. With a flicker of his form, he too vanished from his spot.
The next mont, as Lü Yang stepped out from a beam of Sword Light, the Wu Ghost beside that very beam morphed, revealing the figure of Progenitor Tingyou!
BOOM!
The next second, another bolt of yin thunder crashed down. In the nick of ti, Lü Yang flicked the Myriad-Soul Banner in his hand. Hundreds, even thousands, of Thunder Talismans shot out from the banner and activated simultaneously, coalescing into a brilliant bolt of yang thunder that slamd into the yin thunder in mid-air.
"Talismans?"
Progenitor Tingyou frowned at the sight, but his expression quickly smoothed over. "A bit troubleso, but how many of those could you possibly have? It’s still just a drop in the bucket...!?"
His voice died in his throat.
Because in the next second, Lü Yang fully unfurled the Myriad-Soul Banner. Countless Talismans flew out from it, instantly covering the vast expanse of the sky!
With the help of the Chat Jade Scroll in his previous life, Lü Yang had long ago pushed his Talisman Art and Array skills to the absolute limit of the Qi Refining Stage, reaching the Seventh Grade.
Coupled with the Myriad-Soul Banner’s assembly-line-like production capabilities, he directly used the Talismans to form an Array. With a series of shifts and transformations, he instantly stirred the Majestic Power of Heaven and Earth within a hundred-li radius.
Not only that, but Array Patterns also lit up all around the City of the Wronged Dead.
For a mont, all one could see were streaking lights and flowing fire as wind and thunder roiled across the sky. The entire City of the Wronged Dead was sealed shut, trapping Progenitor Tingyou in the very center of the Array!
"Did you really think I ca here rashly, without making any preparations?"
When dealing with an old senior like this, Lü Yang had co fully prepared.
Long before rushing to the City of the Wronged Dead, he had already laid a Grand Ward around it. Now that the Array was active, it imdiately unleashed a heaven-shaking might.
In the past, with his Cultivation at only the Eighth Layer of Qi Refining, Lü Yang had once relied on a Blood River Sword Formation to withstand a Final-phase Qi Refiner. The power boost an Array provided was imnse, a fact Progenitor Tingyou understood all too well. His expression changed drastically as he imdiately began performing techniques to escape the Array’s periter.
"Hmph, trying to escape?"
Lü Yang flicked his wide sleeve, and the Sword Lights he had previously scattered imdiately swept back to attack.
Previously, to track Lü Yang, Progenitor Tingyou had made each Wu Ghost follow a beam of Sword Light. Now, he had been hoist with his own petard.
In the blink of an eye, the Sword Lights cleared away the Wu Ghosts still lingering outside the Array.
Without the Wu Ghosts to act as conduits, Progenitor Tingyou could no longer escape across the distance. He could only watch with a grim expression as he was enveloped by the Array.
Seeing this, Lü Yang smiled coldly and perford a hand seal.
Instantly, the Array shifted. Countless Talismans vibrated in unison as wind, thunder, water, and fire poured out, engulfing Progenitor Tingyou’s figure.
If it were just a simple Array, Progenitor Tingyou would not have feared it. But Lü Yang was augnting it with his own Position. This turned it into a truly fatal attack. When the wind, thunder, water, and fire dissipated, Progenitor Tingyou’s figure reappeared, the once-dazzling Splendid Light of his soul now considerably dimr.
"Excellent. Truly excellent, for a junior!"
Progenitor Tingyou’s hair was disheveled, and his eyes glinted with a chilling light. "I truly did not want to reveal this," he said in a low voice, "but it seems I have no other choice now."
Before his voice had even faded, his aura changed abruptly!
He perford a hand seal, and the Nether Lord’s Appearance behind him expanded once more. The Yama Hall grew ever more real, and eight thrones gradually materialized within it.
"Return to your positions!"
A ghastly, demonic voice echoed in all directions. The next mont, Lü Yang saw eight crimson Flying Lights that had just escaped into the distance suddenly fly back.
Within the Flying Lights were the faces of the eight Tingyou Sect Elders, contorted in absolute terror. Lü Yang imdiately urged the Array to intercept them, but the lights were as ethereal and illusory as if they existed in another dinsion. They were completely unstoppable, arriving by Progenitor Tingyou’s side in the blink of an eye.
"Black and White Ghost Guards, Scribe and Warden Judges."
"Ox-headed and Horse-faced, Night and Day Wardens."
With every na Progenitor Tingyou chanted, one of the Elders landed on a throne manifested within the Yama Hall. Once all eight Elders were seated—
BOOM!
Progenitor Tingyou’s body transford into the Nether Lord’s Appearance and landed directly on the main throne of the [Yama Hall]. The entire [Yama Hall] instantly seed to undergo a complete transformation.
Myriad ghosts roared, each assuming their posts, as if the true Underworld had descended upon the mortal realm. In that instant, it broke free of the Talisman Array Lü Yang had deployed!
Almost simultaneously, a sword’s cry rang out from high in the heavens!
The cry rolled forth, carrying with it an incomparably vast Divine Sense that forced a single image to appear in the minds of all who heard it.
It was a colossal cliff that seed to touch the heavens.
On the cliff sat a heroic-looking youth in a Daoist Robe, his legs crossed. He gazed toward the North, a Magical Sword resting before his knees. Then, pointing two fingers toward the North, he made a slashing motion.
"Wu Ghost Sect Leader, the pri evil must be slain!"
SHIIING!
The next second, the vision vanished. All Lü Yang could see was a razor-sharp Sword Light. The Golden Core Sword Qi from the Secret Realm had fully awakened!
At that mont, Lü Yang finally understood Progenitor Tingyou’s true identity.
The last Sect Leader of the Wu Ghost Sect!
