Zhen Liu stared and sighed at the three desire cores he had just condensed from the leaders of the Cortez Trading Company.

While Zhen Liu was certain that any kaijin made from them would probably be helpful in future situations where survival was key, i.e. monts like this and beyond, he couldn’t help but dislike the sources they ca from. As such, he decided that he would do sothing he hadn’t done since Erald Eye City and combine it with what he did in Blessed Willow City. Unlike last ti though, he would have a little bit more help in dealing with the possible side effects.

’And you’re sure you can burn away so of the less...fun attributes while I’m in the process of digesting these?,’ Zhen Liu asked as he stared at the cores in his hands one more ti.

[I think so,] Blazejudicator answered honestly. [At least, when I practiced this trick in the core storage area it worked. Besides, I’m fairly certain swallowing whatever the fuck kind of flas these are will be able to refine those cores anyways.]

’I’m...just going to ignore that last statent for the ti being and place my trust in you. Let’s get into position.’

...As to why Zhen Liu decided to suddenly swallow three desire cores at once...

^By the nine saints!^

^Sweet mother of heaven!^

^We are so dead...^

As soldiers of the Cortez Trading Company, the army had seen things that would cause most civilians to curl up in despair.

They had fought fierce aether beasts, bandits that have done inhuman things and rival company soldiers to the bloody end.

As mbers of the Cortez Family, they knew about the hidden task they had been given by their honored ancestor.

That is, to keep a close and careful eye on the bastard known as Lythero.

They were only told the briefest of overviews, but they knew that this young man’s masters had done their ancestor a great wrong.

A wrong so great, that it couldn’t be wiped away with the death of these masters.

Therefore, Lythero was to be sealed and monitored until the end of his days.

Many soldiers thought it was excessive to have this many warriors dedicated to monitoring one young warrior.

They weren’t thinking that anymore.

Before their very eyes was a massive pillar of fire that had a humanoid figure in its center.

The humanoid figure was none other than Lythero, but the aforentioned young man wasn’t conscious and the surrounding soldiers didn’t really care to notice.

Their attention was more on the surrounding flaming pillar that radiated a dangerous energy.

An energy that made the Cortez sdiers feel as if they were going to combust if they had so much as breathe incorrectly, forcing them to basically freeze up in the face of an unprecedented disaster.

Evidently, this freezing up would mark their doom.

Little did these soldiers know that this growing fla wouldn’t reach that much further than a couple feet outside of the empty lot they were surrounding, but it would reach just far enough that they would all get caught in the conflagration and give all of the citizens who kept a hidden yet watchful eye on the situation a rather...traumatic sight.

Nobody wants to see anyone burn alive and into ashes if they could help it, after all.

Needless to say, this entire mont would end in utter tragedy unless soone, anyone, decided to intervene and drag these poor souls to-

^Either haul ass or stay completely still, I don’t care which!^

^Eh?^

^Who is-?^

Alternatively, they could just stand there and be absolutely stupefied as a warrior in a strange, brightly colored [Regalia] suddenly appeared out of nowhere and positioned himself in a spot between them and the incoming blaze.

So of the Cortez warriors present recognized the warrior as being the one that their bosses were attempting to seal monts before everything went up in literal flas, but they kept their mouths shut. They weren’t entirely sure why, but many of the soldiers present felt that this strange looking warrior was probably their best, and only, bet for surviving this mont.

And they weren’t entirely wrong.

...Switching perspectives...

’Alright, let’s hope this works,’ Zhen Liu told himself as he prepared to swallow the incoming blaze.

Ever since the Ghost Fla incident, Zhen Liu hadn’t really exercised his ability to absorb flas as much as he thought he would.

Maybe it was due to the fact that he lives in Stampeding Bison, maybe it was due to spending ti on Roaring Tide, but Zhen Liu had more or less neglected this ability of his.

Then again, it probably didn’t help that a lot of the fire abilities that he had gained when Pathos had originally inscribed the [Will of the Salamander] into his soul, and swallowed the [Ghost Fla], had been reforged into Blazejudicator.

On the one hand, it kind of sucked that Zhen Liu didn’t have his own independent fire abilities anymore.

On the other, it didn’t really matter since Blazejudicator was literally attached to his soul in more ways than normal.

Regardless, once Blazejudicator reminded Zhen Liu that they could swallow the flas, they decided that the best course of action was to partially eat away at the Lythero’s excess fire run off.

There was just one problem.

The flas being produced were the result of a Universe class formula, and Zhen Liu could instinctively tell that attempting to swallow such flas were a really bad idea.

At least, it was going to be a bad idea if Zhen Liu didn’t have a really stupid yet effectice way for dealing with this blaze.

One that required balancing energetic "poisons" in his body.

As the flas that radiated this oddly oppressive aura got closer and closer to Zhen Liu, the young Kaijin Lord finally made his move.

First, he took his [Hamr of the Dearly Departed] and [Veteran’s Bone Club] and reford them into a vacuum propeller with an accompanying hose that Zhen Liu would soon place over his mouth.

Second, before he attempting to swallow these ominous ass feeling flas, Zhen Liu made sure to give himself a power boost by swallowing the three desire cores he had just created.

While this might’ve been triple the amount the last ti he did this, Zhen Liu had gotten a lot stronger since that ti and had Blazejudicator on hand to help mitigate the possible side effects.

Maybe.

Worse case, scenario would have Zhen Liu dealing with the voice of a famous wilderness survivalist in his head for a couple of weeks... hopefully.

But now that he had done the deed, he might as well ride this wave to the end.

^Here goes sothing!,^ Zhen Liu verbally shouted to hype himself before sticking his face to the vacuum straw he created.

And just in the nick of ti too.

The flas at this point had gotten close enough to almost start licking at Zhen Liu’s body. However, they were quickly extinguished as the vacuum straw Zhen Liu’s hands allowed him to suck up the run-off flas at a rate that was faster than their expansion.

The mont these flas reached his lips, Zhen Liu could already feel that the energy composing it was a bit more than he had anticipated.

On the plus side, he was right about the core swallowing being a necessary action.

...

’Oh, I can already tell that this is going to make feel weird for a week. At least I won’t blow up like that Leech guy...Grub...actually, why do I feel like a lot of my enemies are insect thed?,’ Zhen Liu asked in an attempt to keep his mind off of the searing pain spreading throughout his body.

It sort of worked and Blazejudicator helped to keep him distracted.

[You know that saving these people was incredibly unnecessary on our end, right?,] Blazejudicator pointed out. [They’re technically enemies with all things considered.]

Blazejudicator didn’t need to ask this question, but they did so in order to help distract their creator and Lord from the burning pain that even he was experiencing at this mont. Besides, it allowed Zhen Liu to reaffirm his own actions.

’I know Blazejudicator, I know,’ Zhen Liu answered. ’ doing all this was completely unnecessary. Hell, I’m not even entirely sure if swallowing this fire is going to lead to long-term consequences or long-term benefits. Gods above and below, I hope aether empowered cancer isn’t a thing in this world...’

[Then why do it? Why go out of your way to help these people?]

’Well...I guess it’s because I hate the idea of dying because of soone else’s mistakes, ya know? It’s...not a pleasant way to go.’

[I suppose...]
