Now reading: Chapter 1502 1502: Banshee v. Bird from Kaijin Fighter: So I Have to Make Monsters, So What?, a Action novel by Mizako.

...anwhile, up in the eaves of the lair...

[Bleh...doing this was a terrible idea,] Razorstella griped. [Now I feel even more tired than before...]

[Hey...at least you can still...move...] Springerdermain groaned while lying on the ground like a ragged doll. [I'm pretty sure...my legs...are comatosed!]

[Bruh...]

As the ones forced to bear Screamira's drowsiness, Razorstella and Springerdermain had beco even sleepier than before and were showing very different reactions to this status effect.

Razorstella had beco more agitated, like a toddler that didn't want to nap.

In contrast, Springerdermain beca...essentially a potato.

Either way, the both of them regretted taking on this additional ntal burden upon themselves. On the plus side, Screamira was able to fulfill their duty.

[Wait...I just had another idea...] Springerdermain piped up, his mind sowhere between existence and non-existence. [What if one of us just...went to sleep? Couldn't use that as a ans of having—what the fuck am I sensing?]

Before Springerdermain could fully articulate his idea, though, a very weird energy popped up on his radar. While the spring-limbed magician couldn't see what the source was for himself, Razorstella was still conscious enough to do so. Needless to say, her own expression mirrored Springerdermain's.

[Uh...did we ever establish what the hell these freaky masked fuckers actually are?] Razorstella asked.

[No?]

[I think we should contact Logos and Pathos on the double.]

[Oh boy.]

...Uh-Oh...

=I think I know what she just ca into contact with, so...yes, just to double-check. =

...Back to the fighting...

Coming down like the banshee she was modeled after, Screamira took a deep breath as she concentrated a mix of death aether and [Chaos] in her throat before unleashing a powerful scream.

^GAH!^

The shockwaves from the scream slamd down on Halcon like a ton of bricks, knocking the bird-masked weirdo into the ground.

The force of the scream was also enough for Screamira to not only bounce herself backwards and better position herself but also provide space for Harriet to get the hell out of danger.

Despite this mont of martial triumph, though, Screamira didn't look entirely pleased at the outco.

'That scream should've shattered his mask and negated most of the aether surrounding his body,' Screamira noted as she took on a fighting stance, ready for what was to co next. ' So why the hell does it look like my attack was about as inconvenient as a thrown beanbag to the nuts?!'

From what Screamira could sense, her [Chaos]-laced attack had made contact against Halcon's form. However, there was so weird energy involved that seed unaffected by the more debilitating effects of [Chaos].

From Screamira's point of view, this felt as if she had just thrown a ball of paint that was ant to explode, only to find that the ball decided to just go with brute force instead.

Regardless, once Halcon had recovered from the surprise attack, the falcon-masked warrior got back onto his feet...and showcased so traits that definitely leaned more towards the inhuman side of things.

^Stupid bitch, how dare you injure ...^ Halcon growled in a weird voice that sounded like a mix between the rumbles of an angry man and the squawking of an oversized chicken.

To be more precise, the mont Halcon pushed himself off of the ground, his hands and arms began to take on more avian features, but in a strange artistic interpretation, as opposed to the more naturally organic look that avian Bloodliners had.

^Now, you're going to pay!^

Without so much as a warning or even ti to throw up even the most remote of defenses, Halcon leapt towards Screamira with his blade in hand and aid a decapitation strike against the skeletal kaijin woman.

'Whoa, he's fast!'

Screamira almost didn't have ti to react to the attack, but she managed to duck down fast enough to prevent the blade from making contact with her neck.

Under normal circumstances, against regular opponents, Screamira wouldn't have even bothered dodging or blocking in the first place.

The aether empowering the attack would simply beco undone the mont it ca into contact with the [Chaos] radiating from her body, while any possible physical blow would be deflected or shattered against her inhuman physique.

This ti around, though, Screamira felt her instincts telling her that coming into contact with this energy surrounding Halcon was going to lead to her having a very bad ti.

Unfortunately, she soon found out precisely how.

After dodging the initial strike, Screamira thought that following it up with a headbutt to Halcon's abdon was a good way to reclaim the initiative in this battle.

Most of the ti, it was a brilliant idea.

In this instance, though, it just confird the suspicions that were bubbling in Screamira's brain bits.

^Oof!^

On the outside, it looked as if Screamira had simply slamd her skull into Halcon's abdon and had forced the falcon-masked freak to take a step back due to the kinetic shock to his stomach.

To the uninitiated and novice, this was a brilliant countermove.

To Screamira herself, she couldn't help but notice that the energy she invested into her own attack seed to fall...kind of flat.

'Alright, what the hell did I just slam my head against?'

The [Chaos] infused into her skull should've been strong enough to send any opponent at her level flying into the opposite wall while also infesting whatever wounds she created and forcing the sorry sod to waste precious ti and energy in purging the effects.

Instead, she felt as if she had just tackled a training dummy at only a quarter of her usual strength. Not only that, but the [Chaos] she infused into her attack seed to fizzle out as well. It was as if all the randomness and unpredictability of her attack was replaced with complete certainty.

On the fixed outco of [Shove].

Hell, Halcon acted a bit like a training dummy who just got pushed back by a childish novice.

^Fuck! Looks like you're a touch more experienced in combat than what was anticipated. This is going to be annoying...^ Halcon grimaced, the bird-mask on his face sohow grinding its beak. ^But not impossible!^

Opting to be quick as opposed to lethal, Halcon proceeded to grip his blade with one hand while using his other to make a fist and punch downwards on Screamira's exposed back.

POW!

'What?!'

A dull thud echoed out as Halcon's fist made contact with the hardened bone exterior of Screamira's form, montarily stunning the skeletal kaijin.

The blow itself was actually quite light, but the fact that she could feel it was the shocking bit, to her at least. Especially when, after she ran her senses over her body, she found that her internal and external [Chaos] were still very much intact.

This confused Screamira, as every other energy type that kaijin were vulnerable to usually led to imnse pain. This was just...pain.

Light, almost bruise-worthy pain...but that was it.

Regardless, the mont Halcon saw that he had created an opening, he attempted to capitalize on it by taking his sword and plunging downwards.

^I'm going to sever that spine of yours in one clean blow!^

Unfortunately for him, Screamira wasn't born yesterday.

[Ghost Note!]

Recovering from the blow, Screamira quickly released an empowered high note that slamd into Halcon like a push kick to the abdon.

^Again?!^

The blow, however, was so unexpected this ti around that Halcon had accidentally released his weapon and allowed it to fall right by Screamira's side.

At that mont, Logos and Pathos decided to pipe up in Screamira's head.
