They were right to anticipate that this is going to take so ti...

There were a lot of psychic shields to go through and too much intel to analyze and confirm. Moreover, each layer must be disabled cleanly and skillfully; otherwise, it will trigger the instant self-destruction sequence and destroy the rest of the valuable intel left on this person’s brain.

That would be horrible, especially because now that they’ve co this far and discovered just how much this guy knows, as horrible as the things they’ve discovered so far, they have to know everything now.

Because so far, the plans of the Cult of the Lost Lamb had been horrifying. The worst part is that if it weren’t for that whistleblower revealing this man’s identity to them, humans would’ve been left completely in the dark.

Initially, they suspected that it would take at least three days before they extracted everything out of this man’s brain. However, the mont they started working on breaking down his psychic shields, they discovered that three days were absolutely not enough for this.

They would need a whole week at minimum. And that’s just to drain everything this guy knows. What cos after was the real difficult part, and they don’t even want to think about that right now.

Whilst the experts are working hard, the security within the GMU headquarters is at full power.

"Can soone please tell us what’s going on? Why are you all doing this to us?"

"I didn’t sign up for this. It’s not included in my contract; let us through! I’ll report you all to HR!"

"Don’t we deserve so kind of an explanation?"

"Are the rumors true? Is there really a traitor, and you caught them? Don’t ignore ! It’s an easy question. Just nod for yes and shake your head left to right for no!"

Rumors had been flying everywhere that there were traitors among them. So revealed that one had already been discovered and was now being dissected and drained of all information they knew.

The common workers and staff of the GMU weren’t completely aware of the truth. In their point of view, their workplace just suddenly tightened security and contained all of them.

They were put under strict surveillance, which certainly didn’t ease the tension in the office caused by the rumors.

"This sucks!"

"How long will this take?"

"I have an appointnt in 30 minutes; I can give you proof, just let through!"

"Did you just try to stab with your sword!? Guards! Catch this one! I think he’s a traitor too!"

"Silence, all of you! Be still; this will be over soon!"

Everybody’s now suspicious of each other. All of them understood that if there’s one traitor among them, there could be another. Obviously, this was very harmful to the harmony of the office.

And those who could confirm whether the rumor was true or not refused to say another word or just outright denied it. Not because they didn’t want to talk but because they had a gag order.

With the situation inside the GMU this tense, everybody was on edge. If this continues, sothing worse might just happen.

BOOM!!!

And it certainly did.

"Ahh!"

"What the fuck was that!?"

"Help! The building is collapsing!"

"Take us out of here! Don’t just stand there! It’s your duty to protect us!"

"That happened below! And I think that just blew off a huge chunk of the building! What exactly was that? Did the generators explode or sothing?"

Out of nowhere, the power suddenly went out. It was only gone for a brief mont before the generators kicked in, but it was enough to make everybody panic. And then, it was followed by an explosion that rocked the entire building.

A huge chunk of GMU’s skyscraper was suddenly blown away by the explosion, killing who knows how many with it.

The explosion was also aid at the vulnerable area of the whole building. Had it been a bit stronger, this whole building could’ve collapsed.

When that explosion hit, shit hit the fan.

"That’s it! I’m done sitting around! It’s your fault; you made do this!"

"Get out of my way! I’m leaving!"

"Please step aside. I just want to live!"

"Sorry, but I can’t die here! I have a family waiting for outside!"

"It’s my daughter’s birthday! I don’t care whatever’s happening up there, but it has nothing to do with , so move! Get out of my way!"

People scread and panicked, ensuing chaos everywhere. The guards tried to calm them down, but nobody listened, especially those who didn’t want to die. They wanted to get out of the building in fear of it collapsing on top of them.

The guards did their best, truly. But they couldn’t contain the chaos from spreading. The staff rioted and bolted out of the building, clogging corridors, hallways, and exits.

They started hurting and stepping on each other for the sake of saving themselves. The guards had to use force to control the damage, but they were overwheld real quick. Additionally, so guards were also terrified of what was happening.

So even violated their code and orders just to get themselves into safety, thinking that living is more important than following their orders.

"Go up! Go up! The way down is blocked by debris from the explosion!"

"Yeah, let’s go!"

"Let co with you! I have a way of getting us out!"

"Better start talking now or we leave you here, big boy!"

"I could get us an aircraft to pick us up! We’re just going to have to wait for a bit, but I’m sure they will co!"

"Will it fit all of us?"

"Yes! I’m sure! Just take with you; I’m hurt and I can’t walk."

"Alright, you got yourself a deal, man."

This mayhem spread through the entire building. So of the staff found themselves climbing on top of the building, thinking that maybe they could call a chopper down to help them escape this place.

"Stop right there! None of you can go any further! This isn’t a place where you people could enter!"

Alas, they were blocked by several ard n stationed to clog the passage. No elevators could reach the rooftops; they could only reach this high, aning that they have to walk through here to reach their destination. There were no fire exits either, no other way through aside from here, and this path was blocked.

"What the hell? Let us through! Did you not know what’s happening down there?"

"We have to get out of this building! It’s collapsing! Please let us through before it’s too late! We don’t want to die here!"

"Get out of the way!"

"Silence! Nobody’s allowed through, and that’s final! I don’t care who any of you are or what your reason is. If I said that you can’t go any further, then you can’t go any further! If any of you dare to co any closer, we will use force! Leave!"

From the words of the guards’ spokesperson, they pretty much determined that there’s no way he’s letting them through. He and his n were heavily ard and looked nacing; there was no way they, as a random group of paper-pushers, could beat trained, seasoned, and veteran soldiers raised by the GMU.

"I don’t have ti for this! To hell with all of you!"

Unexpectedly, sobody from the civilian group stepped up and did sothing. He scread and held his hand out.

Before the soldiers could react, the floor swallowed them whole. It happens so quickly and so abruptly that none of them are able to stop it. They weren’t expecting such a weak and frail-looking man would be able to do sothing like this.

The others were flabbergasted upon witnessing this. Clearly, just like the soldiers from earlier, they weren’t expecting this from the man either.

Whatever that was, it’s certainly not martial arts.

However, it seems that it had so toll on the man as he practically collapsed right after he used it.

"Holy shit, dude! That was aweso! But are you okay?"

"Yeah, kind of," the man replied weakly. "Go, leave here. I’ll be fine; I just need a bit of rest. Don’t worry about those soldiers returning; I sent them to the bottom floor so that they could personally see what we have to deal with. Even if they could return, it’ll take so ti."

"Great! Aweso! Oh, let carry you then. I’d feel bad if we just leave you behind."

"It’s alright. Don’t bother. I’m also waiting for soone else. You guys can go first, seriously. I don’t mind. Let’s grab lunch together once all of this is over."

"Deal! Thanks, man! Be safe!"

They didn’t insist since the man looked determined to stay behind. In their minds, he was a hero. They were grateful for what he did and would think about him when they leave.

The man didn’t watch them leave. Instead, he waited for five minutes, seated in place. Once he couldn’t hear them anymore, he sighed in relief, stood up, and began walking deeper into the rooms of the upper floors as if he were searching for sothing.

’Co on, Terrence. You better be fucking alive, or else I’ll kill you myself! ’
