The bowstring emitted a deep, powerful vibration! The Wide-Headed Arrow, in which he placed great hopes, carried a cold killing intent, like a black lightning bolt, precisely toward the target thirty ters away!
However, just as the arrow left the string, the solitary wolf pretending to be asleep displayed the terrifying intuition of a top predator, akin to a Sixth Sense!
It didn’t even open its eyes; its entire body, as if installed with springs, suddenly leaped from the snowy ground!
"Thud!"
A clear, dull sound like a sharp blade cutting into flesh ca through!
The Wide-Headed Arrow failed to hit its soft hindquarters but didn’t entirely miss either; the three sharp blade wings fiercely sliced through the outer muscle of its left rear leg as it leapt and turned!
This wasn’t a piercing wound but an open cut! A blood gash over ten centiters long instantly appeared, not deep, but enough to sever nurous capillaries and so muscle fibers.
Blood spurted out, staining its gray-white fur a striking crimson.
This wasn’t a fatal injury, not even a severe one, but the sudden, intense pain instantly ignited the endless fury of this solitary wolf!
"Owooo—!"
Instead of fleeing, it let out a howl filled with fury and killing intent, suddenly turning around, with eyes that seed ablaze with golden flas, locking onto the human on the rocky platform who dared harm it!
In its eyes, this two-legged creature was prey that must be torn to pieces!
With all four limbs exerting force suddenly, like a gray-black cannonball, it charged fearlessly towards the rock platform where Lin Yu’an was, in a reckless fashion!
"Bring it on!"
Lin Yu’an’s gaze showed no panic whatsoever, instead, a spark of fiery battle intent flashed in his eyes!
After releasing the first arrow, he didn’t even check the outco, already smoothly drawing a regular practice arrow, swiftly nocking it to the string.
Before the situation beca clear, directly using his only two most precious Wide-Headed Hunting Arrows would be unwise. He needed to first probe and delay the opponent using cheaper ammunition.
Watching as the lone wolf navigated the steep slope effortlessly, with snow kicked up by four paws flying backward, its linear distance from him rapidly shortening. The scent mingled with the beast’s musk and slaugter desire seed almost to flood into his nostrils with the wind!
Lin Yu’an drew the bowstring completely, the bow arm emitting a slight groan from the imnse tension.
He didn’t rush to shoot but waited calmly, fully aware that this rock platform was his greatest advantage.
With open vistas and difficult to assault, the wolf must climb this three-ter-high rock face to attack him, inevitably exposing massive vulnerabilities during the climb.
Lin Yu’an’s strategy was simple: hold this commanding position. Let this foolhardy lone wolf pay the price!
The lone wolf reached directly below the rock platform, abruptly braking, the churned snow crashing against the rock wall like waves.
It glanced up at Lin Yu’an on the platform, issued a series of angry, suppressed roars, its white fangs gleaming coldly in the dim light.
It attempted to leap upward, its hind leg muscles erupting instantly, with its entire body rising, sharp claws scratching out a screeching "scrape" against the rock wall.
But the three-ter height, combined with the slippery wall, made its attempts futile, landing heavily back in the snow, the injury to its hind leg deepening. It did not attempt a second futile jump.
It raised its head, with golden eyes brimming with wisdom and rage, staring intensely at Lin Yu’an for several seconds.
Then it made a wise tactical decision, ceased pursuing a head-on assault, suddenly turning to run swiftly along the edge of the rock wall to its rear side, seeking a slope that could allow circumventing up to the platform!
Once the lone wolf found a reasonable path, it charged towards Lin Yu’an with astonishing "zigzag" agility!
"It’s trying to flank!" Lin Yu’an’s pupils slightly contracted, realizing imdiately, though holding the high ground left him sowhat trapped on a small platform.
Once the wolf reaches him from behind or the flank, he would be trapped in peril from both sides! There’s no ti to wait; before it finds the route up, he must inflict serious damage!
He didn’t aim at the fast-moving wolf’s body, nearly impossible to hit, but swiftly predicted the wolf’s running path, aiming at the open ground beside a tree it must bypass, ten ters ahead!
He released his fingers!
"Whizz!"
The practice arrow, with a sharp scream, accurately struck the snow before the wolf!
"Thud!"
A dull sound! The arrow buried deep in the snow, splashing a large flurry!
The arrow accomplished its mission!
The lone wolf running at high speed, startled by the nearby threatening falling arrow, its survival instinct made it suddenly halt and attempt to turn sideways!
This sudden halt, disrupting its running rhythm, exposed its entire flank defenselessly within Lin Yu’an’s firing range!
