Miller
"He would survive on ice as an oga at least until the end." I thought I heard Leo’s words wrong when I neared the bus so I imdiately pushed the doors leading to the bus open and it got more confused because the oga Leo had ntioned was Kayden.
There was no way. He could never be an oga because for months we have been playing together and I had never suspected anything.
Kayden was smaller than most alphas I knew but I had never questioned it. I never let size bother at all.
It might be my mind pulling tricks on . Those were my thoughts as I looked from Leo to Rhys and Kayden holding hands.
"An oga?" I questioned to make sure I was right. "Kayden is an oga?"
I saw the way Rhys’ eyes widened and looked towards Leo who looked shocked. It ans sothing. Maybe I had not heard wrong and it was real.
"Can soone explain what I just heard?" I demanded, looking towards Rhys hand entangled with Kayden’s again and that was when I slled it.
A powerful pine scent mixed with an orchid scent. Orchid. A sweet scent belonging to an oga.
I already knew what Leo slled like and Rhys too which brought to Kayden whose scent I never really paid attention to.
"How the hell is Kayden an oga?"
Leo moved closer to and placed a hand on my mouth. "Stop screaming. We have to be careful in case anyone else is heading here."
My eyes widened in shock. He was truly an oga pretending to be an alpha to play hockey. I couldn’t believe it. There was no way. I should have known. One of them should have told about it.
"He is..." I muttered as I slowly removed Leo’s hand from my mouth. "Both of you knew all along?" I demanded, the betrayal I felt at that mont evident in my tone.
Rhys tried to speak but instead he let out a groan and I saw the way he squeezed his face in pain and it confird sothing else. He was releasing his pheromones to Kayden which ans sothing had gone wrong.
"Let guess, Kayden is like this because his true self is about to surface right, and yet you are pumping your pheromones inside of him to lie again to everyone!" I yelled, the words coming out with anger even though that was not how I had wanted it to sound.
I was just mad, feeling betrayed that they held sothing like that from for a long ti.
"Miller... you..." Kayden tried to speak but his voice shook. He still sounded weak even though he didn’t look as pale as before.
Rhys’s pheromones were working on him.
"Save your breath for whatever circus you had going on," I lashed out at him.
"It’s not circus," Leo corrected . "It’s just..."
I shot him a glare and he stopped talking at once. "We... even you had to keep it from Leo. I cant believe you..."
"It wasn’t in my place to tell you. That is Kayden’s decision not mine and besides if he had told you, this would have been the exact way you would have reacted."
"No!" I yelled at him and when I realized what I had done, I heaved a deep sigh and rubbed my face. "I would have never reacted this way. I am not mad that Kayden is pretending to be an alpha. I am just mad that we have been friends for months, all four of us and while you all knew, I was the only one in the dark," I told them. "I don’t know why you didn’t tell, maybe it’s the sa reason Leo had when I found out what he was."
Rhys tried to speak. "That is not..."
"It is exactly why Rhys. There is no need to sugarcoat anything. I thought we were close and sothing this big," I paused sighing again. "I just never expected that you would hide it from . It just shows that you never thought of as your friends at all."
Leo tried to move closer to but I held a hand stopping him. "Not now, I am mad that all three of you kept in the dark. I ca here to check how Kayden is doing and it seems like I am not needed here anyways," I chuckled bitterly and then turned around to leave the bus.
"Wait Miller. It’s not what you think. I..." Leo tried to say sothing but I was already out of the bus.
How could they keep out in the dark for so long?
The signs must have been there and I might have missed them all.
Kayden is an oga. The words kept resounding in my head.
How did he do it? I thought. How did he fake it so perfectly, play like he was a true alpha without breaking down?
I knew he would have relied on so many suppressants but no amount of suppressants would make an oga that powerful on ice.
It was more of his skill and talents.
"Miller!" Rhys’s voice sounded behind just as I was about to reach the building that leads to the locker room.
I didn’t turn. In fact I was surprised that he had been the one to co after because I had expected Leo.
"Please if you would listen to !" he continued yelling. "I know you are mad and you have every right to be..."
"Every right to be?" that made turn around to face him. "Every right? I don’t have any right and I wouldn’t have been if only you told long ago," I responded. "What do you expect I will do if I ever find out? Run to the leagues and report?"
"That’s not what I ant Miller. If you could just wait to hear out and understand why it’s like this."
I shook my head aggressively. "Hell no. Right now, I don’t think I want to talk to you."
"Please Miller!" Rhys scread loudly, his voice was so high that a staff passing at that mont cast a look towards us and I had to fake a smile pretending as if everything between us was good then I stopped walking until Rhys walked up to and wrapped a hand around my neck until the staff was gone.
"You only have five minutes to tell why the hell you have decided to lie to ," I told him.
