Sarya returned to her apartnt exhausted, still shaken by the shadow ambush and the ssages from the mysterious sender. Her body trembled slightly as she sat on the edge of her bed, her hands clutching the headset. She could feel the lingering pulse from Emotional Overflow even after logging out, a faint echo of adrenaline and fear that made her heart race. In the real world, her small apartnt felt colder, emptier, and lonelier than ever, but in her mind, she could still see Aurelion, the glowing sky fractured by that jagged red crack, and the prince staggering against the shadows.

Her pigeon cooed from its cage, sensing her unease, and she absentmindedly fed it before turning to the headset again. She knew that if she wanted to regain control, she could not let fear dictate her choices. She powered up the ga, determined to face the unknown once more.

The login shimr enveloped her quickly, and she materialized at her usual starting point, the small village outside the capital of Aurelion. Her avatar, Valeris, adjusted automatically, reflecting the damage she had suffered in the previous session, though the system had healed most of her wounds. Coins, however, were still hers, and the inventory carried over without problem. She checked her nu: the option to **create a companion** had beco available. The cost was high, almost prohibitive, but she had saved enough. Her fingers hovered over the selection, heart racing with anticipation.

She hesitated, knowing that companions in other players’ experiences had not only assisted in combat but also ford deep bonds that could influence quests, provide tactical advantages, and in so cases, trigger unique story events. She wanted soone who could match her, challenge her, and be by her side through the dangers of Aurelion. She opened the creation nu.

The screen prompted her to define the companion’s appearance, skills, and personality. She spent an unusually long ti, dragging sliders and adjusting features until she finally created a male character with strong, athletic build, sharp but approachable facial features, and eyes that reflected confidence and warmth. His weapon of choice was a dual blade, balanced for both offense and agility. As she finalized his personality, she made sure he was loyal, clever, and capable of independent judgnt. She wanted a companion who could support her without overshadowing her, and she wanted soone who could adapt as she adapted.

When she confird the creation, the system displayed:

> Companion Created: Na Pending

> Appearance: Custom

> Class: Elite Swordsman

> Level: 1

> Bond Potential: Maximum

The companion materialized before her. He bowed politely and introduced himself.

"Greetings, I am Kael," he said. His voice carried calm authority, and his eyes t hers directly, as if he could read her thoughts.

Valeris could feel a faint, warm resonance in her chest as if the ga acknowledged the compatibility between them.

The first battle they encountered was unremarkable by comparison to the shadows she had faced previously, but Kael’s presence imdiately changed the dynamics. He anticipated enemy movents, coordinated attacks with her strikes, and provided tactical advice. Every action she took was enhanced by his ability to react in real ti, and she realized that with him, they could take on challenges that would have previously required multiple party mbers.

"Stay to the left," he said calmly as a goblin archer raised his bow. Valeris sidestepped and countered in perfect synchrony. Coins and experience points flowed rapidly from each defeated enemy, and she felt satisfaction in the smooth collaboration. The Emotional Overflow buff subtly enhanced the synergy between them, though she made sure to remain aware of the three-hour tir.

By the ti they returned to the village square after several small skirmishes, her bond with Kael had already begun to deepen. The nu reflected it:

Companion Bond: 15%

It was faster than she had expected, and the subtle warmth in her real-world chest reminded her why she had wanted a companion in the first place. She smiled faintly, feeling less alone than she had in months, yet she also felt a rising sense of responsibility. This bond could be advantageous, but she knew it carried risk: if Kael suffered harm or was destroyed, the consequences could be severe.

The next morning in the ga, the village elder appeared, offering a special quest: a ruined dungeon to the east that had been previously inaccessible. The reward included a rare weapon upgrade and additional coins. Sarya accepted imdiately, eager to test her coordination with Kael.

Inside the dungeon, traps and monsters awaited. She quickly realized that her companion could not replace her own skill. She had to fight smart, coordinate movents, and anticipate enemy strategies. Kael covered blind spots, but when a massive stone golem rose from the dungeon floor, it required both of them to execute a precise combination of attacks. She ducked, rolled, and struck weak points while Kael attacked from behind, exploiting openings she had created.

The golem collapsed with a deafening crash, sending a shower of coins and XP into the air. Sarya could feel a tangible sense of pride at their combined success, and she noted that her real-world chest was still flushed from the residual effect of Emotional Overflow, though it was milder than the last session.

After clearing the dungeon, Kael suggested a tactical rest. "We have achieved a high amount of XP today. I recomnd logging out before the three-hour mark to secure progress," he said. His tone was almost teasing, and Sarya found herself smiling.

As she logged out at 2:58:52, she felt the familiar rush of reality returning, but with it ca a sense of achievent she had never felt before. Her apartnt felt warr, more real, and for the first ti, she looked at the pigeon and smiled genuinely. She was no longer entirely alone.
