Caleb didn't find this strange at all. After all, D-rank lords were very powerful, so it was only natural for them to search for the Evil God.

Moreover, after killing the Evil God, they would receive a huge reward—perhaps that was the reason they were all seeking the Evil God.

Austin and Alex said nothing further upon hearing this, seemingly trusting Caleb's judgnt.

If Austin and Alex were the muscle, then Caleb was undoubtedly their brain.

And so, this peculiar team was ford.

Caleb stroked his chin, frowning as he asked, "Was the Evil God once a lord from your area?"

The brown-haired young man nodded lightly. "That's right. Before, he… he was just an ordinary Lord, actually the weakest among all the D-rank Lords."

"Because his hero had the ability to heal and restore stamina, the Captain only assigned him to serve as support for the Managent group."

"But I don't know how, by so stroke of luck, he stumbled upon a great opportunity and then beca the Evil God."

"The Captain once fought against him and realized he wasn't strong—he just had so rather strange ability to control vines, that's all."

Hearing this, a look of doubt flashed in Caleb's eyes. At that mont, Alex suddenly spoke up, "He's telling the truth."

Caleb turned to Alex, puzzled. "You've t the Evil God before?"

"t him once," Alex nodded. "Just as he said, the Evil God seed to be just an ordinary lord—not very strong, just soone with a bizarre power."

"I wasn't strong enough at the ti, so I let him escape."

"Ah!" Caleb, hearing this, turned back to the brown-haired young man and asked a series of further questions.

Everything was answered honestly; of course, Caleb was quite satisfied.

Though he didn't get a great deal of information, at least he now had the basic facts he needed.

"I… I've told you everything I know. Can you let go now?" The brown-haired young man stamred, his face full of anxiety and fear.

At this, Caleb waved his hand and said, "Let him go."

The Skeleton next to the young man withdrew its blade from his neck, giving him space to escape.

Seeing this, the young man was overjoyed. He hurriedly got to his feet and ran off.

"Damn it! Just wait till I get back and find the Captain, then I'll wipe out every last one of you bastards, I'll—"

Whoosh!

Suddenly, there was the sound of wind slicing through the air, and then…

Thud!

"Pfff!" The brown-haired young man suddenly stopped, looking down to see a purple spear piercing through the center of his chest, blood gushing out like a spring.

He opened his eyes wide, gritting his teeth as he spoke: "You… lied… you never… intended… to let live…"

"Damn…"

Thump!

He collapsed to the ground, his mind plunging into darkness, and the spear slowly faded, dissolving into countless specks of light before vanishing.

Caleb shrugged and said, "I'm letting you go… to the underworld."

He glanced at Alex and Austin and remarked, "It seems these lords are seriously underestimating our strength."

"They think we're weak, so they don't bother making any concrete plans."

"However, there's sothing odd about all this. Alex, the one who brought those Orc Kings that you faced that day was definitely a D-rank lord, right?"

Alex nodded, "That's right. So what?"

"That's exactly why I find this strange," Caleb frowned, explaining, "If he couldn't defeat you—or more precisely, after witnessing the power of our Master—why didn't he tell his Captain about it?"

"I think there are only two reasons. First, he was afraid that others would find out about his defeat, so he kept it to himself."

"The second reason, perhaps the 'Managent group' the young man ntioned earlier is actually laying a trap for us."

Alex shrugged, "Trap or not, I don't care. All I know is that as long as we have enough power, any sche is nothing more than a child's ga."

Caleb shook his head with a sigh: "Never underestimate the enemy. The Managent group is definitely much stronger than ordinary D-rank lords."

"Especially that so-called Captain—they must have one or even several C-rank Heroes, which ans we have to be extrely cautious."

Austin nodded lightly, and Alex agreed as well. He'd already nearly died once, and he had no desire to die a second ti.

"So what should we do now?" Austin asked in confusion.

Caleb frowned, thought for a mont, then said, "I think… we should go into hiding for a bit."

"Hide?!" Both Austin and Alex were surprised by Caleb's answer.

"Oy! Are you stupid?" Alex said irritably. "We're not that weak. If we hide, they'll just take over this place, and then all our efforts will go down the drain."

"That's right," Austin frowned. "As long as we're careful, we'll be fine. With our strength, as long as we don't face too many D-rank lords at once, we still have a chance to win."

"No…" Caleb smiled, "You two misunderstood . What I an is… we temporarily get out of this ss—soone else will take care of those lords for us."

"What?!" Alex frowned, then suddenly realized sothing, imdiately bursting out laughing: "Hahahaha… Caleb, you really are a bastard. But… I like your way of doing things."

Austin saw Alex laughing and scratched his head, asking, "What the hell? Oy! What are you two even talking about? I don't get it."

Caleb patted Austin's shoulder and laughed, "Alright, you'll understand soon enough."

"Wait! At least explain so I can understand first. Oy! Oy!!!"

In the forest, a man with a strange appearance was moving through the trees. He walked atop the thick layer of snow, his eyes scanning around as if searching for sothing.

Suddenly, he saw a Lord commanding his soldiers to shovel snow, creating a shelter. A cruel smile instantly appeared on his face.

That's right, it was Zeka.

Both his hands were severed. Even in this dreadful cold, unable to summon vines, he still possessed a number of 'permanent buffs' sustaining him.

As long as he killed enough lords, he would gradually beco invincible.

The stronger the lord he killed, the stronger the buffs he received.

The lord was focused on clearing snow and building fortifications to prepare for battle, but the soldiers around him soon noticed Zeka.

Krit! Krit! Krit!

The goblins belonging to that lord let out cries, making him startle and look in the sa direction.

"That's… Damn it!" He saw Zeka and grew terrified: "It's the Evil God! Quick, protect !"

But just a second later, countless vines shot out from Zeka's severed arms, instantly skewering the goblins and the lord, killing him on the spot.

🔔 [You have successfully killed a level 1 D-rank lord. You have gained a 'permanent buff', increasing your strength by 10%.]

"Tsk! Only one?" Zeka clicked his tongue, seeing the system notification appear before his eyes.

"However… the hunt has only just begun. Hahahaha…"

Amid his laughter, the blood of the goblins and the unlucky lord beca Zeka's al.

However, Zeka didn't notice one thing: a current of energy was enveloping his body.

That energy seed to be growing darker, as if it was gradually shifting from white to black.

At present, it had turned a pale gray, but Zeka neither knew about it nor could he see this invisible energy.

"How many lords have died?"

At this mont, Maisy was dressed in a rough fur coat to keep herself warm.

On her head perched a giant butterfly, and around her was a group of five people.

Kneeling in the snow before Maisy was a young man, head bowed as he spoke: "Captain, eight lords have died. Among them, three lords were from the F and E rank areas, the rest were lords from the D rank area."

Maisy frowned, a glint of excitent flashing in her eyes but disappearing just as quickly.

She asked, "Were they all killed by the Evil God?"

"No!" the young man shook his head and replied, "The four D-rank lords who were killed seed to have ford a group."

"From the scene, it looks like they fought and were killed by other lords or monsters."

"The rest died in a manner typical of the Evil God—they were drained of blood and left as dried corpses."

Maisy frowned, nodding lightly. "Good! I understand. There's no need to worry—Evil God is only targeting the weak lords."

"Have everyone gather together and use our numbers to overwhelm him."

"Yes, Captain."

The young man bowed his head in response, then left at once.

Maisy smiled softly, then asked, "Garek, do you think he'll co looking for you again?"

Garek stood at the back, his expression sour as if he'd just swallowed ten flies.

"Captain, you an…"

Maisy glanced at him, her eyes growing sharp and murderous before she said, "Very well… I'll leave the Evil God to you."
