Many villagers, especially those out in the fields, did not have ti to flee all the way back to their hos, and so took shelter in nearby houses. There were often more than seven or eight people to a room.
Although the dense fog gradually dissipated after the heavy rain began to fall, the visibility was still not very good due to the downpour. However, the villagers still all looked towards the big valley beyond the fields in the distance.
Sothing had fallen just now, and the entire Shuanggongqiao1 Village could hear and feel the way it shook the earth beneath them. Those who were close by in particular were still frightened.

The sounds that resembled an old cow wailing were faint, drowned out by the sound of the rain if one did not listen carefully. However, now that the villagers were focused, they could naturally hear it.

“What is falling from the sky? I can’t see it clearly from here!”

An old man who was also the head of one of the households stood at the door, looking towards the valley fields He had a frown on his face, but remained silent. After the others had talked for a while, he suddenly spoke.
“I heard that the… the roar of a dragon… sotis it sounds like an old cow…”
All the discussions around him stopped at once, and everyone turned to look at the old man.
“Uncle… Please don’t scare us…”
“Yeah, uncle… Are you trying to say that a dragon fell from the sky?”
“But this storm is really strange… Maybe what Uncle Zhao said is…”
“Hasn’t there been a legend passed down through generations about a dragon in Guangdong Lake…?”

All the people around them were beginning to tremble with fear.

Hearing the cries int he distance, everyone subconsciously shrank towards the inside of the house, no longer daring to stay at the door.
Although dragons were found throughout all kinds of myths, so of them were demonized. The legend of the divine dragon that brought rain was widely circulated, but there were also many myths of dragons sweeping away houses with their tails, tornadoes destroying villages and fields, and even so of dragons eating people.
Just like Lord Ye’s love of dragons,4 everyone spoke of dragons with relish, but at this mont all that ca to mind were terrifying thoughts.
“Hey… Look at the fog over there, it’s a bit similar in shape…”
“Don’t…don’t scare …”
“Oh, no, if its full body is in that fog, how big would it be? Wouldn’t it be enough for it to eat us all in this room in just a few bites?”

Another bright bolt of lightning flashed, illuminating the village as brightly as a sunny day. Many people saw the huge black shadow in the distance, and the village was silent for a while.

When Ji Yuan and the City God of Lishun Prefecture flew over Shuanggongqiao Village, the village was shrouded in a much heavier rain than the places around it. No villagers dared leave the houses they were hiding in.
Using his water avoidance technique, the surrounding water flowed over Ji Yuan and City God Li without touching their bodies. They could overlook the area below and around them from a height of several dozen zhang.

Under the flash of lightning, the land around Shuanggongqiao Village was instantly illuminated. An enormous black dragon with a sinuous body lay at the entrance to the village. The large fields supported its head and nearly half of its body, and its back half and dragon tail swung outside the village. The dragon was about forty to fifty zhang long,5 with a body of varying thickness. Even as it was being drenched in the heavy rain, there was still a steady stream of mist seeping out of its body surface.
Ji Yuan looked at Guangdong Lake in the distance. The huge lake was only about 20 to 30 li away. Although the falling dragon had made such a loud noise, there was no response from Guangdong Lake.
“It seems that this dragon should be that Lord Mo from Guangdong Lake.”
City God Li frowned as he spoke to Mr. Ji beside him, but he couldn’t see any reaction on the other’s face.
Ji Yuan stared at the dragon below them with his deep eyes. As his supernatural eyes opened, he could see that the black dragon was seriously leaking spiritual energy and water essence; it overall physical condition was extrely bad.
There was a shard of ice crystal in the middle of his spine, which had obviously been created by water vapor freezing to cover over a wound.
‘It was caused by a fight! ’
This was the common thought in Ji Yuan and City God Li’s minds.
Ji Yuan didn’t say anything. After hesitating for a mont, he took the lead descending down from the sky, and City God Li followed imdiately after.
The man and the god descended at a constant speed. Their movents were very gentle, trying not to stimulate the black dragon at this mont. Even monsters like this could sotis act like wild beasts, and it would be even more dangerous if they were critically injured.

Ji Yuan stepped on the ground with both feet, causing a little water to splash, while the City God touched down silently.
“Rooo…haah…”
The black dragon tiredly cracked his eyes open and saw the City God in a black robe, the divine light on his body having not been deliberately concealed. He couldn’t see the other person next to him, but it was obviously not a mortal.
“I am Li Baotian, the City God of Lishun Prefecture. Today, I suddenly saw a dragon falling from a distance. When I ca here to look into it, I realized that it was Lord Mo of Guangdong Lake. My Lord, why are you here?”
“Rooo…”
The enormous black dragon let out a wail, but it just sounded like an old cow’s roar, without any discernible speech.
“Crash…”
The rain continued to wash over the dragon’s body. It struggled to support itself on its four claws, and its body slowly left the ground. But after shaking for a while, it fell back to the ground with a loud bang.
“Whoosh…”
Because of the movent of the dragon’s body, a large burst of muddy water was lifted up, sweeping towards the City God and Ji Yuan in a wave, but neither of them dodged. In order to not irritate the black dragon, they did not use any spiritual techniques.
The mud and water that clung to the City God’s body was slowly washed away in the rain. When it ca to Ji Yuan’s body, the mud and water quickly separated; however, no one at this mont was in the mood to observe it.
Ji Yuan had not spoken a word since the beginning until now. With his supernatural eyes wide open, he could see more clearly than City God Li. He also understood the pain the black dragon was enduring. There was a strange sense of disharmony about its body.
Seeing how he was struggling, he finally spoke up.
“Black Flood Dragon, you live in one of the four major lakes of Dazhen, under the care of the Dragon Lord. Who would dare to pull out your Dragon Tendons?”
Although Ji Yuan’s voice was strong and peaceful, his words were shocking. City God Li looked at Mr. Ji in horror, and turmoil broke out in his heart.
The black flood dragon gathered up its remaining strength, opened its eyes wide, and looked at the man beside the City God.
Ji Yuan looked up at the dark rain clouds and bursts of lightning in the sky. It seed as though his sight penetrated the clouds and strong wind. The movents of the black flood dragon’s tendons being pulled must have been considerable, and likely had not happened within the country of Dazhen.
City God Li’s eyes wandered back over to the dragon, finally locking onto the ice crystal at the black flood dragon’s back.
“I’m afraid that I can see the spot where it happened. Since Mr. Ji has spoken, it must be correct. In other words, has the “Lord Mo” of Guangdong Lake truly lost his Dragon Tendons? No wonder his water Qi has been leaking out like crazy!”
Ji Yuan walked slowly across the muddy ground, staring into the black flood dragon’s eyes, and slowly moving towards his head.
The sludge on the ground automatically separated the mont his shoes stepped upon it, leaving only clean water. The City God finally noticed this strange phenonon, as did the black flood dragon, who was still watching Ji Yuan
Ji Yuan’s supernatural discernnt was not omnipotent; he could see so clues, but the conclusion was not obvious. At this ti, he bowed solemnly with cupped hands and tentatively spoke.
“My na is Ji Yuan, and I am an old friend of the Dragon Lord of the Tongtian River. Your Dragon Tendons were pulled out, and you are seriously injured. You can’t hold on for much longer. Please tell what happened, and I will inform the Dragon Lord. If you don’t trust , I will imdiately go and invite the Dragon Lord here.”
“Rooo…”
The black dragon’s eyes moved a few tis. It opened its mouth for a long ti, but only uttered these sounds.
Now, not only Ji Yuan, but also the City God could feel that sothing was wrong.
Ji Yuan’s eyes flickered. He approached the black flood dragon carefully. He looked into the other dragon’s eyes and nodded slightly. The pupils in the latter’s amber eyes slowly contracted into vertical slits, allowing Ji Yuan to reach out and touch one of his whiskers.
At this mont, Ji Yuan’s body and mind were in harmony, and his inner world gradually erged. At a certain mont, he stopped and looked towards the dragon’s eye again. The latter’s pupils slowly opened once more, as if in silent communication with Ji Yuan.
It was also at this mont that Ji Yuan slowly took a few steps back, waved his sleeves, and gathered a large ball of rain in his hands. He kept an Edict in his mouth, but did not utter it. The spiritual energy in his body began to evaporate, and his body seed to turn into mist and smoke, nearly invisible to the naked eye.
Then he waved his arm again, and a large pool of water and light few out, forming several huge words of glowing water about three or four zhang about the black dragon’s body.
City God Li was no ordinary man. Seeing this scene, he knew sothing strange was going on. Divine light appeared all over his body, like a rainbow at his back. His thick robe bulged, ready to attack with all his strength at any ti.
The Green Vine Sword behind Ji Yuan rose slowly and flew to the top of its master’s head, floating horizontally.
He looked up at the sky, at the continuous sounds and flashes of lightning and thunder. It was the perfect ti. Although his thod of lightning control was extrely poor, his Edict technique was constantly improving, and he had even researched endless variations.
Seeing that everything was ready, the mysterious yellow energy in Ji Yuan’s mind erged, and he suddenly issued a command:
“Edict: exorcise and bind the demons!”

The four large characters made of water above the dragon’s body instantly transford from crystal white light to a dazzling golden glow. The black flood dragon roared violently. This ti, it sounded exactly like a dragon roar.

As the golden characters embedded themselves into the dragon’s skin, a sharp and inexplicable sound erupted from the black dragon’s body. A dirty shadow continually twisted in the golden light and electricity. The lightning seed to have beco chains, like dancing silver snakes, constantly entwining around its body. .
“Rooooar…”
The black dragon opened its mouth wide as it roared, and a large amount of black ink-like filth spewed out of its maw. The dirty shadows were like smoke, constantly seeping out from the dragon’s nose, eyes, and mouth, gathering again into a distorted shadow above the dragon’s back, firmly bound by electric golden light.
“Execute.”
A peaceful and gentle voice ca from Ji Yuan’s mouth, and in the very next mont the Green Vine Immortal Sword was unsheathed.
“Shiiing!”
The sword light flowed with the chi of the sword, and sword energy filled with sword intent slashed across the dragon’s body.
“Aaah…”
The sharp and strange scream stopped abruptly and dissipated into a plu of black smoke.
“Haah…”
Ji Yuan cald and eased his state, then waved his sleeves, removing the characters that still glowed with electricity from the dragon’s body and putting them back into his sleeves. He couldn’t be too wasteful with his lost spiritual energy and mysterious yellow energy.

Forgot to put this in the last chapter – 双 (shuāng): two/double/pair, 拱桥 (gǒngqiáo): arch bridge The phonetic the author uses for the dragon cries is 哞 is “Mōu” or “Moo,” hence why he keeps calling it the sound of an old cow. I translated it as “Rooo” because a) it’s half of “Roar” so you know what the sound is, b) it just reads WEIRD to have “dragon goes moo,” and c) it sounds more accurate to what I believe the author was going for T/n: I know this is supposed to be a serious scene but I can’t help but imagine soone’s cow getting YEETED through the atmosphere, getting a contrail as it passes through the clouds, and creating a cartoonish giant crater Famous idiom about a “Lord Ye” who was absolutely obsessed with dragons, but when a real dragon decided to honor his devotion by paying him a visit, Lord Ye was so terrified of the real thing that he ran away.
