Chapter 1344: Chapter 1344: Defeat

Nicholas Pendleton harbored doubts about the man before him, but upon seeing the great seal, his last line of defense was completely shattered.

Or rather, what he needed was not the seal itself, but an excuse to persuade himself.

Who wouldn’t want to sit in the position of the Ninth Route Commander?

Including the deceased Geogre Four and Delaney, even those outside, everyone fantasized about becoming the leader of the Ninth Route.

However,

As long as Hagan Marsh is alive, they can ultimately only endure.

Even if Hagan Marsh were to die, Nicholas Pendleton would still have two elder brothers ahead of him.

The difficulty of smoothly succeeding Hagan Marsh’s position is imnse.

Moreover, the Ninth Route Commander is a formidable fighter, surrounded by nurous skilled subordinates and incredibly cautious in his actions.

Assassinating him is nearly impossible.

Furthermore, even if Hagan Marsh is quickly eliminated, what about his other adoptive sons?

Wouldn’t they co together to deal with oneself?

But, fortune cos to those who dare to take risks.

The activities of the first two adoptive sons have been frequent lately, already showing signs of impatience.

If Hagan Marsh changes his mind, then it would be akin to Nicholas Pendleton plumting from heaven into the abyss.

“This is a matter of great importance, allow to consider,” he said, his eyes fiercely fixed on the North Sea Commander’s Seal on the table.

“You already have an answer in your heart, why not follow it?” Julius Reed stared into his eyes and spoke: “If you didn’t want to, you wouldn’t be sitting here talking to at all.”

Each word pierced the heart!

“But, is it assured?” Nicholas Pendleton felt like he was going mad.

Talking to a stranger he had never t about matters that could cost him his head.

How much courage does this require?

What if the man before him was sent by Hagan Marsh to probe him?

What if it’s a trap?

Yet human greed is never satisfied.

“I have the authority to mobilize the North Sea troops, which ensures your complete success,” Julius Reed put away the Commander’s Seal, tucked it into his bosom confidently, and asked: “Are you the third son?”

“Indeed!” Nicholas Pendleton nodded.

“Among the nurous adoptive sons of Hagan Marsh, who can threaten you?” Julius Reed continued to inquire.

“To be frank, I was originally the designated successor, but lately the oldest and the second eldest have been active, and it seems the adoptive father also wishes to give everyone a chance to compete, restraining my power,” Nicholas Pendleton’s expression was grave, and after a brief contemplation, he added: “At the mont, only the oldest and the second eldest pose the greatest threat to . Without them, my position is unshakable.”

“Have you fallen out of favor?” Julius Reed suddenly understood sothing.

“Yes.”

Nicholas Pendleton, after being exposed, did not feel embarrassed but wryly smiled: “The adoptive father is sowhat wary of my abilities, and with so people in the Ninth Route beginning to flatter , whispers are endlessly spreading in Rat Town. As you know, those in power are most wary of such things. Even though I have tried hard to show my loyalty, it is futile. The adoptive father has decided to use the oldest and the second eldest to check against .”

In his words, a sense of helplessness was revealed.

“It’s simple. I will help you eliminate the oldest and the second eldest,” Julius Reed thought for a mont, then leaned into Nicholas Pendleton’s ear: “Let another’s sword do the deed.”

“Whose sword?”

“The Seventh Route.”

“To kill whom?”

“Those who threaten you!”

Outside Swimming City.

In the forest.

There lies a humble thatched cottage.

The thatched cottage is exceedingly simple, constructed from mud mixed with straw.

One could imagine it collapsing with a re gust of wind.

Those unaware might think it’s the dwelling place of savages.

“Granny.”

After leaving Rat Town, with surreptitious caution to make sure nobody was following, he then took a detour to this place.

The old crone who had a conflict with Julius Reed at the city gate walked out of the thatched cottage upon hearing the call.

Around the outside of the cottage stood dozens of oddly shaped people.

“Granny!” Cyclops called out again, rubbing his only good eye.

Due to excessive nervousness and running too hurriedly, sweat had seeped into his eye.

“Why did you run back here in such a panic, without following that young man?” The old crone was hunched over, looking as if she was on death’s door.

But the people around her would not think so.

This is an illusion!

Ever since they arrived here, the old hag maintained this posture.

But as more people died, the old hag remained the sa.

Sotis, showing weakness is the most powerful weapon.

The seemingly fragile old hag, once she made her move, it was a deadly strike.

“Granny, I…” Cyclops stomped his foot, sighing, “I’ve blown my cover!”

Having said that, he hung his head in frustration, a look of vexation on his face.

He had been entrusted with an important task, hoping to earn so rit, but barely had he faced his opponent when he was seen through completely.

“What did you say?” The old hag’s face darkened, her grip on her walking stick tightening even more.

“I…” Cyclops’s legs went soft with fright, and he knelt on the ground, “Please forgive , Granny.”

As he spoke, his lips were black.

But no one cared.

Everyone thought that it was a physiological reaction caused by Cyclops’s fear.

“It’s fine.” The old hag’s frown gradually eased, and she bent down with a chuckle, looking at Cyclops, “Good vision, this is not your fault, get up.”

“Thank you, Granny!” Cyclops quickly stood up, ceaselessly grateful.

When he returned, he thought he was surely dood.

Now, it seed like he had gotten his life back.

“How did that person discover you?” The old hag turned around and asked coldly.

“To answer Granny, as soon as I entered, that person ca over and told I could leave.” Cyclops’s voice was hoarse as he spoke, but he thought it was sheer nervousness and coughed lightly.

“Oh.”

The old hag turned around, her face expressionless, “Take a rest.”

Whoosh!

In the midst of speaking, the old hag suddenly made her move!

The walking stick struck down directly on Cyclops’s crown!

In an instant.

Red and white, bits of stuff splattered everywhere.

Cyclops beca a headless corpse, slowly falling down.

“Useless trash.” The old hag stretched out her hand, gently wiping her face.

But suddenly, her face drastically changed!

“How can this be!” The old hag looked at her own hand.

Her fingers were starting to fester!

“Granny!”

“Stay away!” The old hag yelled angrily, plunging her walking stick into the ground.

The places on her body that were splashed with Cyclops’s brain fluid all began to rot!

Although the progress was slow, it was unbearably itchy!

“Hiss!” The old hag closed her eyes in pain, then suddenly opened them wide!

“I’ve been tricked!” She was full of remorse.

“What’s happened?”

Just then, the door of the thatched hut was slowly pushed open.

A man walked out from inside.

The man had his eyes covered with a black cloth and was holding a Longsword in his hand.

He appeared to be about fifty years old, his beard though not long, was a mix of black and white.

He was dressed in a black robe, with loose black hair scattered over his shoulders.

“Master!”

The old hag knelt on the ground, her voice trembling: “Your subordinate is incompetent!”

The man approached, took a light sniff.

“Thousand Sores Powder?” The corner of his mouth suddenly curled into a smirk.

His hand also rested on the sword.

On the sword hilt, there was a character.

Defeat.
