Chapter 1391: Chapter 1391: On the Road

“What!”

Jex Kensington’s hand trembled, and he pierced through a page of the ancient book.

He hurriedly stood up, tossed the book aside, and strode to the entrance of the main hall.

“Say that again!”

“Lord Sorset…”

“No need to speak further.” Jex Kensington extended his hand, gesturing the guard to stop talking.

Because.

He had already seen three heads being held aloft.

Dead people, not frightening.

In tis of chaos, death was all too common.

But Potter Sorset is dead!

Although Jex Kensington was an inspector, he couldn’t afford to provoke the brother of Potter Sorset!

That was one of the three most powerful people in the Ten Thousand Mountain Alliance!

Seamus Sorset!

The so-called Saint Cold Nelson had no authority at all!

Nothing but a puppet.

The real controllers of the situation were the two Great Inspectors and the King of the Military Departnt.

The King of the Military Departnt was Seamus Sorset!

The Military Departnt had control over all the forces of the Ten Thousand Mountain Alliance, except for the Wolf Cavalry.

Potter Sorset’s role in this mission was rely for show.

Bringing back the Divine Dragon Tripod would surely be a great achievent.

And Potter Sorset was exceptionally capable; in his forties, he was already nearing the realm of a Great Grandmaster.

With the support of Seamus Sorset, making a na for himself within the Ten Thousand Mountain Alliance was a piece of cake.

But who would have thought…

Jex Kensington’s head buzzed, and he felt the world was in turmoil.

How to deal with this!

“Inspector, what should we do?” The guard was a bit nervous.

The group of mutinous soldiers was getting closer and closer.

“Don’t panic! Don’t panic!” Jex Kensington took a deep breath, his face filled with cluelessness.

He paced back and forth incessantly inside the hall, rubbing his hands together.

How to deal with this!

“Kill these traitors first!” Jex Kensington halted his steps, steadying his mind.

The man was not killed by his own hand.

It was Potter Sorset’s overeagerness for rit, he failed to dissuade him, and fell to the hands of traitors!

Now, he, Jex Kensington, must avenge Potter Sorset!

“Why rebel!”

Jex Kensington, having steadied his mind, turned his back to the guards with hands clasped behind him.

These people were loyal to him just fifteen minutes ago.

“That question, I should be asking you.”

The guards slowly dispersed.

Julius Reed walked out from the center of the crowd, locking eyes with Jex Kensington.

Buzz!

The sky falls and the earth splits!

Jex Kensington wished he could slap himself!

A jinx!

He actually encountered the Saint in Swimming City?

In just a second, he imdiately knelt on the ground!

“Your servant, Jex Kensington! Paying respects to the Saint!”

Years of mingling in the upper echelons had long since honed his responsiveness beyond that of ordinary people.

In that split second, Jex Kensington instinctively made the judgnt most favorable to himself.

Kneel!

First kneel, then talk!

“Oh?” Seeing him kneel, Julius Reed wasn’t surprised.

If he hadn’t knelt, Jex Kensington wouldn’t possibly be sitting in the position of inspector.

“Audacious! To see the Saint and not kneel!” Jex Kensington raised his head and flung his sleeves fiercely!

Bang!

A mist of blood burst from the bodies of the few nearest guards, who fell to the ground, convulsing and unable to rise.

“I pay my respects to Your Holiness!”

Seeing this, the rest of the people imdiately knelt down, burying their heads low.

“Rise.”

Julius Reed strode across the courtyard and walked into the main hall.

“Thank you, Your Holiness!” Jex Kensington stood up, his eyes constantly darting around.

Being cautious by nature, he had to grasp the situation of his opponent before making any decisions.

As long as he could kill Julius Reed, he was sure to rise to great heights!

By then, never mind the death of Potter Sorset.

Even Seamus Sorset wouldn’t dare raise his voice against him!

After all, there were too many in this world who wished for His Holiness’s death!

As long as he could kill Julius Reed, Jex Kensington would be hailed as a hero!

“You’ve been quite comfortable lately.”

Julius Reed sat in a chair, turning his body to look at Jex Kensington.

His face showed neither joy nor anger, no emotions could be discerned.

It was very calm, yet extrely authoritative.

Jex Kensington found it difficult to breathe.

This overwhelming oppression was the innate aura of a King.

Had it been four years ago, he would never have dared to harbor second thoughts.

But now…

Tis change.

Everyone knows, four years ago His Holiness fell from the snowy mountain, his life and death uncertain.

Latterly, soone found His Holiness alive, but having lost his mory, greatly weakened in his abilities.

Jex Kensington was not Kyle Leopold.

Potter Sorset’s death reminded Jex Kensington that His Holiness still possessed so capabilities.

How much of those capabilities remained, however, was unknown.

He needed to test them.

“Thanks to Your Holiness’s great fortune and protection, Jex Kensington is doing alright. But in my heart, day and night, I have been eagerly anticipating Your Holiness’s return.” Jex Kensington spoke piously: “Perhaps the heavens have eyes, allowing today, to truly see you!”

After speaking, he respectfully walked over, asking, “Would you like so tea?”

“Indeed, I am a little thirsty.” Julius Reed nodded his head and then suddenly asked: “Why are you, sitting in the position of the Inspector?”

Without waiting for Jex Kensington to reply, Julius Reed spoke again: “Is it because you supported Cold Nelson as the new Holy Master, chose your side, and betrayed ?”

“No!”

Thump!

Once again, Jex Kensington knelt on the ground, his heart racing!

He had thought that the other party was unaware of the Ten Thousand Mountain Alliance’s selection of a new Holy Master.

Now, his situation seed rather precarious.

“This servant is only loyal to you! Heaven and earth as my conscience, the sun and the moon can bear witness!” Jex Kensington lifted his head, tears swirling in his eyes: “This servant made compromises, rely to welco Your Holiness’s return!”

“Such loyalty.” Julius Reed received the tea from an Attendant, taking a light sip.

“Then tell , within the Ten Thousand Mountain Alliance, who remains loyal to and who has betrayed . Cold Nelson, what rits and abilities does he have to sit in my chair.”

Upon finishing, Julius Reed placed the teacup on the table, his eyes staring intently at Jex Kensington.

“Cold Nelson is but a puppet, set up by the likes of Seamus Sorset and others!” Jex Kensington maintained his kneeling posture, explaining with utmost devotion: “Those loyal to you have been largely killed or injured! Seamus Sorset colluded with two chief inspectors, purging those with differing views, leading to the slaughter of many from our alliance!”

“I am of lowly status, my words carry little weight, I had intended to die to repay my debt of gratitude! But upon further thought, I felt it better to stay alive and act as your insider when you return!”

He looked up, his eyes brimming with tears: “Thanks to heaven and earth, this servant has finally seen His Holiness!”

“Good! Very good!” Julius Reed nodded slightly, drank the tea on the table in one gulp, and then asked: “Has Seamus Sorset already betrayed ?”

“The actual controller of the Ten Thousand Mountain Alliance, Seamus Sorset is one of them!” Jex Kensington glanced at Julius Reed, his right hand quietly slipping into his sleeve.

“I… I am a bit weary, you may withdraw.” Julius Reed suddenly held his forehead, waving his hand.

“This servant shall see you to your rest!” Jex Kensington stood up, a chilly smile at the corner of his mouth.

Indeed, the potent poison worked!

To guard against any mishap, he had specially asked a pharmacist to prepare a very strong dose of sleeping potion before his departure.

Unexpectedly, it ca in handy here.

“No need.” Julius Reed still sat in the chair, impatiently said: “Withdraw!”

“This servant must personally see you to your rest!” The earlier dread in Jex Kensington was gone, replaced by malice!

“You wouldn’t think that I’ve been poisoned, would you?” Julius Reed looked up, smiling at Jex Kensington: “I’m immune to all poisons, as you know. In fact, I wanted to test you.”

“Really?”

Jex Kensington laughed out loud, insolently saying: “Your Holiness, with your temperant, if you hadn’t been poisoned, would you have wasted words with ? I fear you would have already slapped dead with a single palm!”

Whoosh!

In Jex Kensington’s hand, a golden silk dagger suddenly appeared: “This servant, shall send you on your way!”
