"Who!"

Lillian Tompson’s heart was startled, and a dagger glinting with cold light instantly appeared in her hand.

"You? How dare you ask who I am?"

Swish!

A shadow flashed by.

The Imperial Deputy suddenly appeared behind Elwood Thorneycroft.

Snap!

With a single swipe of her hand, the ropes binding Elwood Thorneycroft’s body imdiately broke.

"Deputy, if you’d been half a step later, I might be on my way to the afterlife," Elwood Thorneycroft stood up, sowhat aggrieved, stretching his stiff muscles.

The feeling of being tied up was unbearable.

A sore waist and numb legs.

"Well, well, turns out to be the Deputy of the Royal Pulse." Lillian Tompson sneered, looking at the two corpses of Ghost Martial Tribe Grandmasters lying on the ground: "No wonder they’re the strongest among the Seven Veins; you’ve managed to locate my hideout and silently take out two Grandmasters."

"A bunch of trash really, not even worth dirtying my hands." The Imperial Deputy remarked disdainfully, "Finding you? Difficult? Across the heavens above and the earth below, all is royal domain. Across the borders, all are royal subjects."

Elwood Thorneycroft had a Royal Pulse-implanted chip inside his body.

This was top secret.

Only senior mbers tasked with high-level missions were entitled to this privilege.

The Imperial Deputy had located Elwood Thorneycroft’s position using this very chip.

When it ca to advanced technology, the Royal Pulse kept up with the tis.

Previously, Thunderpeak Hall had always been under their control, and their technological superiority naturally far surpassed other organizations.

"The people of the Royal Pulse continue to be as arrogant as ever! You, and Grace River included!" Lillian Tompson touched her own earring with an ambiguous smirk: "I didn’t think after hiding so deeply, that despicable woman Grace River would still suspect ."

"A woman who can maneuver for hundreds of years between the Royal Pulse and Bead Pulse and survive—could she ever be ordinary?" The Imperial Deputy spread her hands, ready to capture Lillian Tompson and take her back to the Royal Palace.

"You’re right! Since you already know I’m the Saintess of the Ghost Martial Tribe, I’ll have to send both of you to the afterlife!" As soon as her words fell, Lillian Tompson fiercely crushed her earring!

Screech!

A sharp noise pierced through the eardrums of both the Imperial Deputy and Elwood Thorneycroft!

Instinctively, they covered their ears.

But at the sa mont!

Lillian Tompson’s blade was already stabbing forward!

Lightning quick!

The sharp icy glint was less than ten centiters from the Imperial Deputy’s pupils!

Clang!

A crisp sound rang out.

Lillian Tompson raised her dagger and quickly retreated to her previous position.

Bang!

At the sa ti, the Imperial Deputy’s right hand shot out into the air, catching the coin that had just been flung away.

"Truly worthy of being the Royal Pulse’s Deputy, whether in reflexes or skills, you’re top-notch!" Lillian Tompson’s expression was somber.

If not for the Imperial Deputy’s coin ricocheting against the dagger, she would’ve already dealt with these two.

The longer she dragged on, the worse it was for her.

If the Imperial Deputy could find this place, what about others in the Royal Pulse?

If she were surrounded before reinforcents from the Ghost Martial Tribe arrived, wouldn’t she be pinned down from all sides?

"Co back with !"

The Imperial Deputy was in a foul mood.

She had hoped for an honorable duel, but who would’ve thought Lillian Tompson would play dirty right from the start!

"Only if you’ve got the ability!"

Lillian Tompson suddenly kicked the table in front of her flying!

Crack!

The Imperial Deputy struck down with her palm, instantly shattering the tempered glass table!

Bam! Bam! Bam!

The two exchanged three punches face-to-face!

Then retreated three steps each.

"Please allow to present the Ghost Martial Tribe’s lody, ’Death Abyss’!"

As she spoke, Lillian Tompson pulled out a bone flute from her sleeve!

The flute had a skull carved at one end.

It was covered in densely packed inscriptions, exuding a dark sheen!

"What a farce!" The Imperial Deputy strode forward boldly, but as soon as she moved a step!

The flute’s lody began!

Hum!

In an instant!

It felt as though an invisible cage had trapped the Imperial Deputy where she stood!

The flute’s notes rose and fell, their tempo charged with murderous intent!

Each sound seed like a blade!

The Imperial Deputy raised her head.

What she saw was a bamboo cage.

She was trapped inside.

Unable to move an inch!

The Imperial Deputy lowered her eyes.

At her feet, two skeletons were clinging to her ankles tightly with their bony hands.

"Wuuu..."

The flute wailed sorrowfully.

The clatter of footsteps continued.

The Imperial Deputy turned her head.

What she saw—

Countless skeletons, clumsily lumbering toward her.

Each step they took seed to almost disassemble them.

She glanced upward!

Above her, a blade hung overhead!

As if it could fall at any mont!

Surrounded!

Pitch black!

Aside from the bamboo cage, aside from the skeletons, there was only the Imperial Deputy herself.

No Lillian Tompson, no Elwood Thorneycroft, and no light.

In just a few fleeting seconds, the skeletons were already upon her, baring claws and fangs as they lunged at her!

"Hah!"

The Imperial Deputy took a deep breath and slowly closed her eyes.

The mind creates its own reality.

Boom!

Just as the skeletons were about to touch her body!

A trendous aura suddenly exploded!

The world returned to brightness.

The skeletons were gone, the bamboo cage was gone.

Lillian Tompson was flung backward, her body slamming into the wall, blood dripping from the corner of her mouth.

Using this montum, she leapt and disappeared into the darkness!

An illusion!

When the illusion shattered, Lillian Tompson suffered severe backlash.

"Chase her!"

Seeing Lillian Tompson flee, Elwood Thorneycroft imdiately rose to pursue.

"No!"

But the Imperial Deputy suddenly extended her hand to stop him.

"Deputy, what’s wrong? Lillian Tompson is injured now; she’s no match for us," Elwood Thorneycroft touched his reddened face, his heart full of dissatisfaction.

This slap—he swore he’d return it sooner or later.

"The illusion may be fake, but that woman is insidious." The Imperial Deputy took a deep breath, her back to Elwood Thorneycroft: "Lend a hand."

"Deputy, you..." Elwood Thorneycroft’s eyes widened in shock, letting out a cry.

A blade had sohow embedded itself in the Imperial Deputy’s back.

Only the hilt remained visible.

"Don’t make a sound." The Imperial Deputy’s complexion turned pale.

The illusion was, indeed, fake.

Lillian Tompson had used the unique thods of the Ghost Martial Tribe to play a lody with hypnotic effects.

If soone died in the illusion, it would lead to true death.

But she had kept one trick up her sleeve.

Balancing the real and the fake.

The blade suspended above the Imperial Deputy’s head—it was a real blade!

And now, it had deeply stabbed into her body.

The pain was excruciating!

"Hold still." Elwood Thorneycroft swallowed hard, trembling as he reached out to lightly grip the dagger...

"It’s nothing. After all I’ve been through blade and sword, what’s a bit of pain..." Ah!" The Imperial Deputy gritted her teeth but still let out a scream.

Her lips turned pale, and cold sweat dripped onto the ground.

"Deputy, this blade is poisoned." Elwood Thorneycroft shakily handed the dagger over.

The blade was entirely black, inscribed with skulls and strange runes.

The Imperial Deputy took the dagger and abruptly broke it in two!

Snap!

The blood on the blade—it was pitch black.

"Deputy, you..."

"I’m fine!" The Imperial Deputy quickly dressed, her face now as white as a sheet. "The Emperor’s task is more important. You go et Otniel Harsh outside the city, I’ll find a place to detoxify myself."

With that said, she leapt out!

Vanishing from the room.

After hesitating for a mont, Elwood Thorneycroft finally pulled out his cellphone and dialed a number.

"The Deputy was ambushed by Lillian Tompson, poisoned, and I’m worried... Got it, understood." He hung up the call and disappeared into the night as well.
