But Ji Jue didn't seize the opportunity to stop while ahead.

Instead, while flipping through the files and reports in his hands, he calmly said, "But up to now, not a single patient has been cured, right?"

With that statent, dead silence fell once again.

Then, Ji Jue continued, "Although everyone is stuck together and it's hard to distinguish between them, isn't that exactly the problem?

How can we judge if such a treatnt is effective, rather than just adding to the patient's suffering?"

For a mont, in the conference room previously filled with anger and displeasure, a buzz of whispers, doubts, and wavering began to stir.

"I've already said—"

Director Qian raised his voice, his black eyes revealing bloodshot lines, "This is not your place to speak! If you keep this up, get out!"

"Hold on, Director Qian."

At this point, it was the always silent dean who spoke, his bloated face, which seed to have been in deep thought with downcast eyes, slowly lifted, silencing the entire conference room.

"Your concerns are indeed not without reason. However, our current treatnt thods have surpassed previous attempts by a lot and have achieved many results.

Even if we haven't succeeded yet, I believe it's only temporary. After all, the disease unravels like pulling threads, and patients have been sick with terminal illnesses for so many years; it's difficult to reverse. We must be patient."

He paused, and from his inhuman face, several eyes slowly opened wide, shooting a cold light, staring intently at Ji Jue, his voice turning chilly,

"But, after saying so much, do you perhaps have any better suggestions? Feel free to put them forward for discussion."

Director Qian's expression twitched slightly.

It looked as though he wanted to speak, but in the face of the dean's stare, he finally closed his mouth.

Under the gaze of all the cold eyes in the room, Ji Jue remained as calm as ever, even smiling.

"I wouldn't claim to have any great insight, I rely have a modest proposal."

He raised a finger, "As everyone has ntioned, the patients have been ill for too long, it's difficult to reverse, unraveling the disease is like pulling threads, and it's not simple to cure, and so on..."

From the brief pause, his smile grew warr, "But if that is the case, why not try it on a patient with a mild case?"

...

The dean was montarily dumbfounded.

"Find a patient with a mild case and treat them with the current thod."

Ji Jue opened his arms invitingly, looking around at the astonished faces, "If they can be successfully cured, doesn't it prove the treatnt to be credible and effective?"

"That's complete nonsense!"

Unable to restrain himself, Lian Cheng burst into a rage, slamming the table as he rose and pointed at Ji Jue, cursing, "When all the patients are aggregated into one, where can we suddenly find..."

But before he finished speaking, a chill suddenly ran through his heart.

Or rather, a piercing cold.

Damn...

"Isn't that simple?"

Ji Jue looked over, smiling admiringly, hopeful, and full of wishes, "Of course, whoever proposes the treatnt thod should prove it, right?"

Lian Cheng stood there stiffly, wanting to say sothing, but then he heard Ji Jue's following words.

"Or are you saying, as a doctor, you lack the confidence to personally test your own treatnt thod?!"

Ji Jue slowly stood up, his hands on the table, leaning in.

Across the overcrowded table, he finally, when all has been revealed from his smile, asked the ultimate question, "Could it be that even you have no faith in it?"

"How could that be!"

Sweat suddenly seeped from Lian Cheng's back, his eyes bulging with reflexive fury, as if setting up his own confidence. Then, trying to divert the topic or score points, he planned to drag this damned man into the water with him.

"But..."

There was nothing 'but' left to say; before he finished, Ji Jue interrupted him again.

But this ti, what Ji Jue said was almost beyond belief for him.

As if understanding his dilemma.

Speaking from his point of view:

"Indeed, clinical trials are not such a rash matter, it is not possible to suddenly ask the physician who proposed the treatnt to verify it, that would be too harsh."

After finishing, Ji Jue turned back to him, as if he just realized sothing, "Wait, you wouldn't be suggesting... that whoever puts forth the doubt should be the one to prove it, right?"

Lian Cheng's face instantly flushed red, in unprecedented fury.

You fu*king! I'll f*ck! You little sh*t!

Your f*cking words are all my own! They're all my f*cking words!!!

If this wasn't the conference room, under his raging fury, Lian Cheng might have already lunged forward.

But had the other side anticipated even this move?

His heart sank deeper when once again, he heard Ji Jue's statent, frozen on the spot.

First ca confusion and blankness, then incomprehension and doubt, and what erged last was fear!

Because Ji Jue said:

"Alright."

Across from him, that warm face smiled again, nodding, assuring him, "No problem, I accept, how about we do it this way?"

"I'm willing to receive the Undying Disease inoculation with you, according to clinical trials, as part of the placebo control group."

Ji Jue spread his arms, as if basking in an unseen holy light, devout and solemn, offering all of himself to the white tower.

This was Isaac's sacrifice, Abraham's burnt offering!

To cure the patients, to give the sick a peaceful death and end.

The newbie doctor stepped forward voluntarily for a living experint, establishing the moral high ground and looking down from above, finally asking, "With this, you shouldn't have any objections, right?"

Lian Cheng remained stiff, completely petrified, with only his eyes twitching uncontrollably, his face contorting.

But in this dead silence, sobbing could be heard.

Tears and choking.

Tears, slowly falling.

It was the dean, but not just the dean; at this mont, everyone lowered their heads in silence, snaking trails of blood and tears slowly etching down their faces.

Moved beyond words!

"Tis change, and talented individuals erge in succession; the Yangtze River's waves behind drive the waves ahead."

"I'm old, so old."

"Director Qian, you've done a good job, really good!"

"You've nurtured a fine doctor!"

In the conference room, the Mutant physicians teared up, choked, with shifting expressions of contentnt, admiration, agreent, and sighs... they couldn't help but clap for this great sacrifice!

Finally, pairs of frenzied gazes looked back.

Towards...

Lian Cheng.

Lian Cheng opened his mouth several tis, but no words ca out.

His eyes were nearly bursting with rage!
