After so ti, the basic structure of Grandpa and Grandma’s new house was completed.
The original frawork of the house was largely untouched. After all, it was an old house, and since there was no talk of a ceiling, the renovation was relatively easier, requiring less demolition.
As for the decoration, it was much simpler. Both the main hall and the bedrooms had floor tiles laid over the previously uneven cent floors, making everything look much brighter.
With the ceiling done, beautiful ceiling lights were installed. Once turned on, they lit up the whole house.
The old pit latrine had been dismantled since Grandpa and Grandma no longer fard, and didn’t need the manure. Filling it in was a quicker solution.
Both the bedroom and the living room were fitted with bathrooms, and after revamping the plumbing, there were no issues with the drainage or water supply. Li Younan was extrely ticulous in this aspect, because even the slightest issue would be a challenge for Grandpa and Grandma to solve, and getting a plumber to make a trip to the countryside was rather complicated.
There were a total of four bedrooms; naturally, the room for Grandpa and Grandma needed no further ntion. Everything in the other three rooms was cleared out and moved to the attic upstairs.
On the second floor, Li Younan added a layer of cent to the previous attic, turning it into an actual second floor. All the clutter was moved upstairs, and the ladder was replaced with a cent staircase with handrails. However, Li Younan advised Grandpa and Grandma not to move large items up and down unnecessarily.
Li Younan had his own plans for the now empty three rooms. Each room was outfitted with woodworking decorations: ceilings, simple wardrobes, and suspended desks, creating a sense of rustic elegance amidst simplicity. He also ordered a batch of furniture with Huang Xiaoyang, which had not yet arrived.
Only the little slope at the back remained. Overall, once you walked into the main hall or any of the bedrooms, you couldn’t tell it was countryside anymore.
Since they had just finished the woodworking and painted the walls, these rooms needed to be aired out to remove any formaldehyde. However, Grandpa and Grandma’s room didn’t undergo any painting; they used boards from Huang Xiaoyang that were already free of formaldehyde, allowing them to sleep there imdiately.
The interior renovation was mostly complete, with only the courtyard left to tidy up. However, this couldn’t be done just yet, as the materials they bought were still on their way.
Finally, with so free ti, Li Younan decided to spend a weekend accompanying his mom for a trip to Chengdu.

The car smoothly rged into the highway traffic, as Li Younan rested one hand on the steering wheel. Outside the window, the green of the Sichuan plain unfolded gradually like a long stretch of green silk.
In the rearview mirror, his mom sat upright, her gaze cautiously switching between Li Younan and the road ahead, while his cousin Lu Xiaolan leaned on the other side, wearing earbuds and lightly tapping her fingers on her phone screen... Finally, a day without chatter.
The clouds in the sky moved lazily, like wisps of cotton, flowing slowly.
Li Younan lowered the music volu; warm wind entered through the window, gently brushing his arm. The blue road signs indicating the distance to Chengdu were left behind one by one, as the numbers slowly decreased.
His mom’s posture gradually relaxed, gently leaning back into the seat.
The car soon arrived in Chengdu.
Today, Lu Xiaolan had no streaming obligations. She had initially planned to sleep in at ho but was forcibly awakened by Li Younan and was required to accompany them to Chengdu for a day out.
Lu Xiaolan grumbled, "Oh, cousin, I barely get a day off, and I can’t even sleep in."
Li Younan chided her, "We’re taking you out for so fun!"
Over ti, after receiving guidance from Li Younan, Lu Xiaolan’s makeup skills improved.
Yet, Li Younan admired her indeed, given how surprisingly terrible her talent for makeup was.
Luckily, despite her lack of flair for makeup, she had a decent skin foundation. She mastered the basic steps of makeup, making do with what she had.
After learning to apply makeup, Lu Xiaolan’s confidence clearly increased.
One day, she bragged to Li Younan, "There was a boy I liked in high school. I confessed to him when we graduated, but he didn’t accept. I ran into him on the street the other day, and he initiated the conversation and ssaged that evening. Hehe, I ignored him."
Li Younan knocked her on the head, "What do you know about relationships, little kid?"
Lu Xiaolan pouted, "Cousin, don’t tell you never dated in high school."
Li Younan paused for a mont; indeed, he hadn’t dated in high school.
But seeing Lu Xiaolan’s face of disbelief, he couldn’t be bothered to explain.
The reason Li Younan insisted on bringing Lu Xiaolan along was because he thought it would be inconvenient for just him and his mom to order food and eat.
Additionally, since he was a guy, it was more convenient to have a girl accompany his mom for certain things, like going to the restroom or shopping for clothes, trying them on, and so on.
Since they had started early, they arrived in Chengdu not too late, just around 10 o’clock, leaving so ti before lunch. Li Younan’s plan was to first stroll around Chunxi Road, taking his mom to buy a few clothes.
His mom was never one to spoil plans, so she nodded obediently to whatever Younan arranged, "Okay, wherever you say is fine." But then she nervously asked, "Isn’t that a place young people go to? Do they have clothes suitable for ?"
