Volu 6 Chapter 34: Royalty Kneeling To A Commoner

(Walson)

Then, the sun disappeared.

Accompanied by a loud bang. The underground world, illuminated by purple sunlight, dimd.

The underground world plunged into darkness, with only the faint lights on the earthen hills casting a weak glow.

The ground shook, and the sounds of explosions and falling rocks echoed in the darkness.

In the dead of night, a dwarf was still wandering the streets.

Suddenly, he saw sothing flicker in front of the remaining lights, followed by a wave of heat hitting him.

Then, there was nothing.

A shrill, cat-like howl of agony pierced the sky, and the underground world was once again illuminated by purple light.

What seed like a peaceful underground city monts ago now had many steam-emitting "humanoid" objects crawling up and down the earthen forts and stalactite hills, wreaking havoc.

These were none other than the "Steam Motion Armor"!

The sudden chaos left the citizens stunned.

A rampaging Steam Golem crashed into the residential area, causing destruction and scattering debris.

A panicked dwarf fled to the street, looking up at the sky.

"Great Tuvok above, what’s happening–!?... Oh–Oh my God! Lord Tuvok!" he exclaid, his expression frozen in shock.

The spherical purple crystal, embedded in the cave ceiling and serving as the "sun" of the underground world, had a large hole broken through it.

Purple liquid, resembling the blood of a strange creature, flowed out.

The sacred object, revered by the nation since its founding and protecting the city, was severely damaged!

Suddenly, a massive wave of magical energy flew overhead, cutting through the sky.

When the dwarf ca to his senses, a deafening explosion occurred, and a magic projectile exploded on the purple sun!

The cat-like howl of agony sounded again, plunging the underground city into darkness once more.

Chaos ensued.

Within half an hour, the city of "Dying Steel Citadel," hidden for over four hundred years since its founding, was engulfed in flas.

The mountains burned, and the fire replaced the purple sun, illuminating the entire cave.

The spherical purple crystal, now in tatters, fell to the ground, with purple blood continuously flowing out as the underground river washed over it.

This was an act of malice against an Elental Guardian.

I knew this clearly, just like every previous wither event.

However, this disaster was unprecedented.

In previous events, whether in the Wood and Water labyrinth or the Fla labyrinth, the casualties were minimal.

Even in the Fla Labyrinth, the death toll was only around one hundred fifty, which seed significant at the ti.

But compared to this...

This was a disaster affecting the entire city!

But... where did it go wrong?

Didn't I instruct Barella to pour the "milk" on the purple sun to calm the cat god's nightmare?

The issue should have been resolved, so why is this happening?

It directly attacked the "sun," the resting place of the cat god.

This was an attempt to obliterate an Elental Guardian!

Such blatant malice was unprecedented!

I crouched on a hill, observing from afar, hoping to grasp the current situation.

It wasn't that I didn't want to leave, but the city's lifeline, the chanical arms used to transport "transmission boxes," had all stopped.

So were severely damaged by the rampaging Steam Motion Armor.

The city's most fatal flaw was exposed—poor crisis managent!

When the chanical arms stopped, the town and the hills beca isolated.

Even if the governnt wanted to send troops to support or resupply, they could only watch helplessly without the only ans of transportation.

Was this the bad premonition Belle ntioned?

It wasn't from the Hero King but from our side?

Such a significant event couldn't have happened without any signs.

This wasn't so brainless third-rate plot with "coincidences happening because the protagonist is always involved."

But the question is, what did I miss?

"Brother Walson!" "Lord Walson!" Suddenly, voices called out.

Two floating iron balls flew over from a distance.

Chuck and Leica, each riding one, arrived beside .

"Brother Walson, I beg you, save..." Chuck began with a plea.

"Wait, tell what exactly is going on first." I coldly interrupted Chuck.

The only one who could explain the situation was Chuck, who knew the country best.

After all, my understanding of this city and country was very superficial, very textbook-like.

I believed Barella had done her best in purifying the Elental Guardian with milk.

Natural disasters were unlikely, so the most probable cause was human.

"It's the Thermodynamic Cores! The rampaging Steam Motion Armor is all using contaminated Thermodynamic Cores!" Chuck and Leica revealed all the information they had.

"Contaminated?"

"Yes, Lord Walson. The autopsy report only ca to light a few hours ago, but it was too late. Even if we wanted to act, it would have been of limited effect. We were completely unprepared for this situation," Leica explained clearly despite her panic.

She handed a scroll, which I quickly read, understanding the gist.

The problem was with the "Sacred Mountain Soil"!

Yes, that was what we overlooked. Although we purified the Elental Guardian, the already contaminated Sacred Mountain Soil, used in all Thermodynamic Core production, remained!

This explained everything!

No wonder we encountered rampaging incidents while walking, and the frequency increased as we approached the "Ore God Festival."

This was the reason!

I felt a headache.

If I had noticed and taken asures earlier...

No, even if I had known, I might have been powerless.

The [Milk] potion could only have an imdiate effect on living beings.

I couldn't purify such a large amount of soil quickly.

My options were to destroy it all or seal it in place.

But would the Dwarf King allow to do that in Dying Steel Citadel with the Ore God Festival approaching?

Could I do it without alerting anyone?

Impossible!

"So... it was an inevitable disaster?" I muttered to myself.

"Brother Walson—no, Lord Walson! I know you can save the city! Please, you are the only one who can save it now! I'll give you anything to protect my holand!" Chuck pleaded, kneeling before .

My first reaction was disbelief.

A royal kneeling to ?

Just for his holand, he kneeled to an outsider like ?

This was no longer a mutually beneficial relationship but a one-sided plea.

He was royalty!

Yet he was willing to humble himself before an outsider for his country!

...I couldn't help but feel a bit of admiration... but this left with no retreat!

I sighed, recalling the promise I made to Derisha, and couldn't help but laugh.

"If I do nothing, Belle will scold ." I said helplessly, "Fine, but first, tell , what is that huge thing over there?"

I pointed to the distance where a shadow as large as a mountain from my previous world was stirring.
