Chapter 1017: Chapter 1017: Sending My Remaining Years Afar (Part 11)

“But I see that Miss Song is doing quite well, almost making this place her own.” The man retrieved his sidelong glance and continued sipping his soup. His long, slender, fair fingers held the white porcelain spoon, making his entire hand look as delicate as the porcelain itself.

“Did you call here just to talk about this?”

The man put down the spoon and the soup bowl, then turned around.

In his dark pupils, the image of Chuzheng was reflected. He stepped closer to Chuzheng, the distance between them increntally shrinking.

Until they were face to face, feeling each other’s breath.

The man slightly turned aside, bypassing Chuzheng’s cheek, and gently sniffed.

“The scent on Miss Song, it’s sowhat familiar.”

“…”

The man’s lazy voice continued, “That night… it was Miss Song, wasn’t it?” The person who hit him was about her size, though he wasn’t entirely sure.

Chuzheng’s face remained calm: “What night?”

Trying to trick !

No way!

The man went silent for a mont, then rose and distanced himself from Chuzheng.

“What is your na?”

“Song Chuzheng.”

The man raised an eyebrow: “Miss Song is indeed honest.”

“Hmm.”

I am that honest!

People like are hard to find.

Both of them were actually well aware.

What Chuzheng said outside Golden Sunshine was precisely to make him investigate.

Let him know that the person sent by the Song Family was not Song Yanran.

“The Song Family replaced you with Song Yanran; do you resent them?” The man’s fingertips rested on the table, his gaze looking out the window: “You too are a daughter of the Song Family, supposedly living as Song Yanran did, yet you lived in the countryside for over ten years, and after returning, you were sent here. Miss Song, do you resent them?”

Chuzheng’s tone was indifferent: “No.”

The man turned back, curious and probing: “Why not?”

Chuzheng: “It’s not necessary.”

That was the original owner’s life, not hers.

Why should she resent it?

As for whether the original owner harbored resentnt or not, how would she know?

“Then do you resent ?” The man asked again, “Do you resent for keeping you here?”

“I can leave whenever I want.” Chuzheng raised her eyes, eting his gaze, neither humble nor haughty: “Do you really think you can keep ?”

The girl’s voice was clear, each word mundane, yet combined, they exuded an unfounded arrogance.

“Oh?” The man’s tone drew out slightly, his dark pupils narrowing lightly: “Then why hasn’t Miss Song left?”

The villa was guarded by bodyguards inside and out.

If they really couldn’t keep track of a little girl, he’d have to remind them a bit.

Chuzheng confidently said, “It’s nice here, with food, drinks, and people to serve. Why should I leave?” Apart from the inconvenience of having to climb over the wall to handle business.

But it’s not a big deal.

To make things more convenient, overcoming the fence is doable.

Big shots don’t sweat the small stuff.

“…”

“Sir.” Uncle Bai knocked twice on the door from the doorway.

The two seed to have sothing to discuss, so Chuzheng left without needing to be urged.

Yu Jin stared at the girl’s back, thoughtfully placing his fingers on his lips.

Uncle Bai closed the door and walked in: “Sir.”

“Did she really live in the countryside for over ten years?”

Uncle Bai was slightly taken aback, only then realizing that Yu Jin was asking about Chuzheng.

“Yes.” Uncle Bai replied.

Yu Jin asked unhurriedly, “Do you think she seems like soone who lived in the countryside for over ten years?”

“…”

No!

When Miss Song first arrived, she was constantly causing a scene, not in the best ntal state. From her deanor back then, she indeed seed like soone who grew up in the countryside for over ten years.

But ever since this Miss Song attempted suicide a second ti.

Her deanor changed.

Even a true heiress might not possess such an aura.

“Sir, do you doubt her…”

Uncle Bai had previously suspected a swap.

But this person had always been under his watch; how could she have been swapped? The previous hospital checks showed no issues; it was indeed the sa person.

“Interesting.”

Yu Jin lowered his long eyelashes, his fingers pinching the spoon, stirring the soup inside: “What’s the matter?”

“Sir, you’re injured, are you still going over there?”

“Yes, why not.” Yu Jin casually replied: “If I don’t go, they’d think I was dead.”

Uncle Bai was a bit worried about Yu Jin’s injury, but he couldn’t stop what the sir decided. He tentatively asked: “And Miss Song?”

“Pick sothing nice for her.”

“…Okay.”

Chuzheng looked at the dress and jewelry sent to her room.

“What’s this?”

Uncle Bai maintained the sa deanor: “Miss Song, tonight sir wants to take you to a banquet. Please prepare yourself.”

“Just because he wants to take , I have to go?” Chuzheng leaned against the vanity table: “Why?”

“…”

Why?

Uncle Bai was slightly thrown by the question.

Given the sir’s status, if he really wanted to take soone to an event, did he need a reason?

If soone doesn’t co running, that would already be considered reserved.

And now Miss Song is actually asking why…

He never would’ve thought this question would arise!!

It’s tough being a butler!

“Miss Song, please prepare well.” Uncle Bai smiled and nodded, then quickly exited the room.

Chuzheng had no interest in attending any banquet.

So naturally, she didn’t prepare anything.

So when it was ti to leave, Chuzheng was still sitting on the sofa, legs crossed, reading a book.

“Miss Song, are you ready yet?”

“I didn’t say I was going.” Chuzheng turned a page.

“…”

If Chuzheng were causing a scene, Uncle Bai might have ways to handle it.

But Chuzheng just sat there quietly, in a state where no one seed to be able to budge her, and Uncle Bai was at a loss.

Unable to deal with Chuzheng, Uncle Bai retreated and went upstairs to report to Yu Jin.

Yu Jin didn’t send Uncle Bai again; instead, he ca over personally.

He changed into sothing more formal… not a suit, just more formal leisure wear.

He looked casual but not overly so.

There was a bit of a languid charm.

Yu Jin sat opposite the sofa: “Miss Song doesn’t want to go out with ?”

“No.”

“Miss Song, do you still rember why you’re here?” Yu Jin leaned back against the sofa, lazily lifting his eyelids to look at her.

“I rember.”

“Since you rember, Miss Song, do you think you have the right to refuse ?”

Chuzheng closed the book and looked up.

Uncle Bai stood beside, watching these two silently face off.

Yu Jin always appeared languid, seemingly harmless, but that wasn’t really the case.

And Chuzheng exuded a coldness that kept people at a distance.

Seeing the two of them sitting face to face, Uncle Bai felt inexplicably uneasy.

Like witnessing two giants in a standoff.

Chuzheng tossed the book onto the table, her hand resting on the armrest beside her: “Are you inviting ?”

Yu Jin hesitated.

A mont later, the man stood up, formally adjusted his clothes, and extended his hand towards Chuzheng: “May I have the honor?”

Chuzheng looked at the hand before her, her gaze trailing from his wrist to his fingertips.

A pair of hands so beautiful they defy description.
