Chapter 1040: Chapter 1040: Sending My Remaining Years From Afar (34)

“Miss Song.”

The first person Chuzheng saw wasn’t Old Madam Yu, but the Second Young Master of the Yu Family, Yu Wei.

Yu Wei entered from outside, his face carrying a slightly gentle smile.

Chuzheng: “…”

What is this bastard doing here?

Yu Wei had already walked in, skillfully saying, “I heard there was a visitor, didn’t expect it to be Miss Song.”

Chuzheng didn’t ask the stupid question of ‘why are you here.’

This is the Yu Family Old Mansion.

Not only does Old Madam Yu live here, but it also enshrines the ancestral spirits of the Yu Family.

Chuzheng’s tone was cold, with an air of indifference that showed no desire to converse: “I’m not here to see you.”

Yu Wei smiled slightly: “Then consider as intruding uninvited, I hope Miss Song doesn’t mind. The old madam isn’t in good health and cos slowly, may I chat with Miss Song for a while?”

“There’s nothing to chat about.” Chuzheng kept a cold face, not intending to give face.

Yu Wei sat down opposite, letting out a small sigh: “Miss Song seems to have a big misunderstanding about ? Not sure how I’ve offended you, could you point it out and I’ll apologize to you.”

Chuzheng lifted her eyelids to glance at him: “Yu Jin doesn’t like you.”

Yu Wei was slightly taken aback.

Yu Jin doesn’t like him.

So that’s why she finds him displeasing?

This woman…

“Weier.” A slightly aged voice sounded from outside.

Yu Wei looked outside, then stood up to greet.

“Old Madam.”

Yu Wei wasn’t the old madam’s child, thus he wouldn’t call her mother.

The person who ca in had white hair at the temples, but the face was well-maintained, not looking very old.

She wore a very plain blue garnt, but had an expensive-looking necklace on her neck, a fine jade bracelet on her wrist, and held a string of Buddha Beads in her hand.

Buddha Beads…

Chuzheng had seen them at Yu Jin’s place.

Though they looked different, the sudden appearance of a similar object felt sowhat peculiar.

“Why is Weier here?” The old madam’s tone was gentle, and her deanor was exceedingly calm.

Yu Wei supported the old madam: “I heard there was a guest, so I ca to take a look. Didn’t expect it to be soone familiar.”

“Is that so. You know each other?”

The old madam nodded toward Chuzheng and Hua Can, then was assisted by Yu Wei to sit at the main seat.

“We’ve t a few tis. Old Madam, please go ahead and chat, I’ll leave for now.”

Yu Wei seed to really be just here to say hello, completely uninterested in why Chuzheng ca.

Old Madam Yu watched Yu Wei leave, then looked at Chuzheng: “I don’t know who you two are?”

“I’m Song Chuzheng.” Chuzheng introduced herself briefly.

“I am Hua Can. Hello, Old Madam, I’m sorry to disturb you suddenly, please be lenient.” Hua Can spoke much more politely.

The old madam, seeing their deanor, understood that Hua Can wasn’t the one in charge, so she just smiled and then turned her gaze to Chuzheng.

“Miss Song… I don’t know you. May I ask why you’ve co to see ?”

Chuzheng was never one to beat around the bush, so when Old Madam Yu asked, she got straight to the point.

“Do you still rember what happened twelve years ago, Old Madam Yu?”

Twelve years ago…

Old Madam Yu’s hand, which was rotating the Buddha Beads, suddenly stopped.

Having been through the winds and waves of life, the old madam was different from those youths, she only paused slightly before resuming as normal, showing no apparent anomaly.

“Miss Song, many things happened twelve years ago, I’m not sure which one you’re referring to?”

“Your son.” Chuzheng clarified further.

Chuzheng noticed sothing seed to tear in Old Madam Yu’s eyes, but it quickly closed again.

Her face showed sadness, even regret: “I don’t know why Miss Song has co to ask about him?”

Chuzheng rested one hand on the sandalwood chair, her gaze full of coldness: “I want to know how he died.”

“Since Miss Song has co to ask, you should know he died in an accident.” The old madam showed no other emotion, only sadness as before.

“Not necessarily.”

“…”

Old Madam Yu looked up, and though her face had wrinkles around the eyebrows and eyes, it wasn’t hard to see from her features that she must have been a rare beauty when she was young.

Her eyes carried many emotions.

But they vanished in an instant, elusive and untangible.

“Miss Song, what’s past is past, there’s no need to bring it up now. My son has been gone for many years, leaving only , an old woman. Why must Miss Song reopen old wounds? Please leave, Miss Song.”

Old Madam Yu directly showed them out.

“Did you kill him?”

Plop—

The Buddha Beads in Old Madam Yu’s hand fell to the ground.

Perhaps the string was not strong, the beads scattered all over.

Old Madam Yu stared blankly at the beads as they rolled in different directions.

“I’m sorry.” Old Madam Yu’s face returned to its kind smile: “It’s not convenient to entertain guests today, please leave.”

“I won’t leave until you clarify today.”

Old Madam Yu frowned.

“Miss Song, who exactly are you?”

Chuzheng thought for a mont, then compromised her identity: “Yu Jin’s girlfriend.”

“…”

Chuzheng saw the color drain slightly from Old Madam Yu’s face.

The word ‘girlfriend’ was all too common, it could only refer to Yu Jin.

Old Madam Yu suddenly called out: “ihua, ihua…”

Chuzheng raised her hand, and the originally wide-open door slamd shut with a ‘bang.’

Old Madam Yu widened her eyes in shock, baffled as to how the door shut on its own.

“ihua!”

She called out several tis more.

But nobody responded.

ihua should be nearby, it was impossible she couldn’t hear…

Old Madam Yu tried to head towards the door, but accidentally stepped on a Buddha Bead and fell with a thud.

The cold floor seed to seep cold air directly into her body.

Old Madam Yu held her ankle, unable to stand again.

She endured the piercing pain from her ankle and looked to the side.

The girl sitting nearby lightly tapped her fingers on the backrest of the chair, looking leisurely and nonchalant.

The hall was silent, making the sound of the tapping clear, echoing into the heart.

Old Madam Yu seed to hear her own heart beating wildly.

The girl’s lips moved slightly: “Old Madam, don’t force to do anything drastic.”

“You… you…”

Old Madam Yu trembled with anger, pointing at Chuzheng, unable to articulate after a long stamr.

Her face changed color from red to blue, then from blue to white.

Hua Can covered his face behind her.

Feeling so panicked.

Feeling really panicked!!

Panicked into a ball.

Chuzheng made the panicked Hua Can help Old Madam Yu up.

Old Madam Yu remained silent.

Chuzheng leisurely drank tea… which had gone a bit cold.

Chuzheng swallowed that mouthful of tea, placed the teacup down, looked at the tightly closed door, and finally tapped her fingers together in silence.

“Old Madam, I have plenty of ti.” Chuzheng said: “It benefits you nothing to waste ti with .”

Old Madam Yu’s eyes widened: “What does this matter have to do with you?”

Chuzheng: “Nothing to do with , but with Yu Jin.”

With the Good Person Card, that ans it has sothing to do with .
