Chapter 1213: Chapter 1213: Dark Descent (Part 33)

One minute later.

Ji Lin glared at the person behind him, “Why are you following ?”

“According to TV drama tropes, splitting up at this point usually leads to trouble. It’s best we don’t separate,” Chuzheng said earnestly.

“You’ve watched too many TV shows,” Ji Lin was speechless for a mont but didn’t argue with her.

Ji Lin first listened for any noise behind the door, and hearing nothing, he inspected the door but found no issues. He reached out to pull the door, but it didn’t budge.

“Let .”

Chuzheng pushed Ji Lin aside and pulled the door open effortlessly.

Ji Lin: “??”

What the…? Does this door recognize people?

No way! What if there are people in there when you just pull it open like that!!

Before Ji Lin could finish his two thoughts, Chuzheng had already poked her head inside, then her whole body followed.

“!!!”

Ji Lin quickly followed her in. The room was empty, with just a few tables and chairs, piled with books and docunts.

“Those two people entered this room earlier,” Ji Lin observed the surroundings, “There should be a secret room or sothing.”

“Professor Gan, you need to go take a look; the one that escaped yesterday is not going to make it,”

A person hurriedly ran down the corridor.

Professor Gan, who was speaking to soone, stopped with so confusion, “Wasn’t he fine before?”

“His condition has worsened…”

“Let’s go have a look.”

Just as they left the corridor, a door behind them was opened slightly, and soone peeked out, quickly pulling back.

It was Chuzheng and Ji Lin, who had found the secret passage. Ji Lin blocked the door, preventing Chuzheng from recklessly dashing out.

Ji Lin was truly afraid of her.

“There are surveillance caras,”

Ji Lin told Chuzheng to wait there, stepped out, and sohow managed to find two sets of isolation suits.

Chuzheng: “…”

I, a big shot, why do I have to wear this kind of thing!

Not wearing it!!

Five minutes later.

Wearing the isolation suit made them look chubbier, only their eyes could be seen, everything else was concealed.

Chuzheng and Ji Lin went out, Ji Lin lowered his voice to speak to Chuzheng, “This used to be an underground laboratory.”

The corridor ford a T-shape, with Chuzheng and Ji Lin standing at the junction, looking at two paths leading to different directions.

Chuzheng imdiately started walking to the left, but Ji Lin grabbed her, “Little Stoic, can’t you discuss with first?”

Chuzheng paused, then pulled him along, “Let’s go.”

Ji Lin: “???” Is this your idea of discussing?

After walking about five ters, they saw soone else in an isolation suit coming out of a room, who saw them but didn’t react, and just left.

Ji Lin was still looking for surveillance while Chuzheng boldly pushed open the door and walked in.

“Why are you back so soon…”

Ji Lin heard a voice, his pupils contracted slightly, and he quickly entered the room, just in ti to see soone inside slump onto the table.

Chuzheng casually withdrew her hand, turned back to him, “Shut the door.”

Following Chuzheng today was clearly a mistake for Ji Lin; they operated in completely different styles.

But having co this far, what choice did he have?

Resolutely, he continued with no alternative.

Ji Lin checked the person’s pulse and found he was only unconscious.

Ji Lin looked up at Chuzheng, who was making her way around the room’s table and standing by the glass window.

“What’s in there?”

Chuzheng didn’t answer him. Ji Lin walked over in a few strides, and his expression changed instantly.

Behind the glass window was another room, where soone lay on the floor, looking near death.

Chuzheng turned to the table at the back of the room and flipped through so records, which seed to docunt this person’s changes.

Not just this person; there were quite a few such records.

Each had a na, age, Special Ability, and so numbers beside them, the aning of which was unclear.

“It’s the room number,” Chuzheng remarked.

“These people…” Ji Lin frowned, “are they all imprisoned here?”

“Maybe they’re here willingly,” Chuzheng tossed the papers back onto the table, speaking coldly.

“Willingly? How could they be? These are all Special Ability Users; which of them would willingly be locked up here…”

Ji Lin had been glancing casually at the papers when suddenly he pulled one out from the bottom in shock.

The paper had Cheng Zuo’s na written on it.

Ji Lin grasped the paper tightly, “What did you say that number was just now?”

“Room number.” When she ca in earlier, she noticed that the marked numbers matched the rooms.

Cheng Zuo’s room number was towards the back, but it was comforting that the paper had recently filled-in information, aning that this Cheng Zuo was still alive.

Avoiding occasional passersby, Chuzheng and Ji Lin quickly reached the room.

The room wasn’t locked, opening easily, with a layout similar to the previous room. Ji Lin rushed to the transparent glass, where a figure was curled up behind it.

“Cheng Zuo!”

Even though the figure seed barely human, Ji Lin could recognize that it was indeed Cheng Zuo.

However, compared to the person in the room they had just seen, Cheng Zuo’s condition was much worse, lying there, barely distinguishable between life and death.

Just then, an alarm suddenly blared outside.

Hearing the alarm, Ji Lin’s first thought was to rescue Cheng Zuo. He rushed to the side door, attempting to open it, but this door was different and wouldn’t yield to pulling or kicking.

Chuzheng directly sent a bolt of lightning at the glass, shattering it instantly.

Ji Lin: “…”

When Little Stoic gets rough, she’s unmatched.

Ji Lin didn’t have ti to complain as he jumped through the glass to carry the unconscious Cheng Zuo out.

“The outside should be heavily guarded; how will we get out?” With the alarm sounding, who knows how many people were out there.

Chuzheng stared at the door for a few seconds, “You take him and go ahead; I’ll draw them away.”

“You…”

Chuzheng glanced at him, “Can you handle it?”

Ji Lin: “…”

What could be wrong with him, but it’s her they should worry about!

“Don’t… Little Stoic!!”

But before Ji Lin could voice his concerns, Chuzheng had already dashed out, and he heard the commotion outside, his heart clenching.

Why was he worried about her!

Ji Lin gritted his teeth, waiting for the noise outside to die down before taking Cheng Zuo and leaving swiftly.

After settling Cheng Zuo, Ji Lin imdiately returned to look for Chuzheng. Just as he neared, the building ahead suddenly exploded, and the blast wave almost blew him away.

Debris and stones flew, the sharp pain on his arms and face.

He stared at the smoke and flas rising from the explosion, feeling as though the air in his chest had been sucked out, leaving him unable to breathe.

Gasping for breath, Ji Lin continued running towards the explosion site.

Due to the explosion, many people were fleeing the building, but Ji Lin didn’t care about being exposed as he charged straight toward it.
