The fish vendor quickly surrendered, greased his heels with the gold, and slipped away.

Chuzheng carried the fish, strutting out under the gaze of everyone in the market.

She released the other fish but kept the one that called her ugly.

"She’s a good person; she won’t eat us."

"I didn’t expect you to look fierce, but you’re actually so nice. Thank you."

"Thank you."

A group of fish thanked Chuzheng, but she didn’t receive a single Thank-You Card.

Suddenly, Chuzheng let out the Yin Xian, bringing the group of fish back.

Fish: "???"

On her way back, Chuzheng bought a pan and put the fish inside.

Fish: "???"

-

The group of fish in the pan was chirping like a bustling market.

"Ugly monster, what do you want to do!"

"Eat fish," Chuzheng sternly added water to the pan, "Can’t waste it."

The other fish were trembling with fright, huddled in a corner.

"You...!" The fish tried hard to paddle its ventral fin along the pan rim, "I reminded you last ti, how can you treat like this!"

"How am I treating you?" Chuzheng said righteously, "I bought you with money, I can dispose of you however I want."

"You you you you..."

The fish was furious, flicking its tail violently, splashing droplets out of the pan.

Chuzheng found a ’pan lid’ by her side and directly covered the pan.

The fish shouted, "Don’t eat us; I’ll tell you a secret!"

Chuzheng paused, "What secret could you possibly have?"

The fish patted its ’chest’, "I’m an informant of the ocean..."

"The place you’re from is called a river. Have you even seen the ocean?"

"..." The fish angrily slapped the water’s surface with its tail, "Ugly monster, can you please not interrupt ?"

Chuzheng slamd the lid down with a ’click’.

"Ah ah ah, no, I was wrong!"

After a while, the fish was able to catch its breath again, "I’ll tell you a secret if you release us all."

"That depends if your secret is worth that price."

"Hmph, of course, it’s worth it," the fish said with mysterious confidence, "Do you agree?"

Chuzheng wasn’t so easily fooled, "You tell first."

The fish wasn’t stupid either, "You agree first."

Even if it wasn’t stupid, it had no threat at all. Chuzheng made a move to cover the pan, "Forget it if you’re not telling."

I can’t even be bothered to talk to you, a hotpot it is.

"...Okay, okay, I’ll tell!!"

The fish’s eyes almost popped out from anger, such a cruel-hearted ugly monster!

"Speak."

The fish raised its head, "I know there’s a sunken ship in the river with lots of treasures, enough for you... Hey, hey, hey, I haven’t finished yet, why are you covering it again!! Stop it!!"

Chuzheng pressed the lid down with no expression.

Are all fish such devils now!

Do I lack money?

Do I lack treasures?

Chuzheng locked the group of ’devils’ in the pan, just about to take them to the backyard when the curtain at the door was suddenly lifted by soone.

"Boss..."

Chuzheng was in a bad mood, fiercely snapping, "Not selling, scram!"

"..."

The person who ca in went silent for a mont but didn’t leave.

Chuzheng turned her head to look, a man was standing there, dressed in black, tall and elegant, with a flawless appearance, remarkably captivating.

The black clothing was flowing, embroidered with so sort of totem with dark threads, interweaving and entwining, the folds hiding its complete form.

The man’s long hair was half tied up with a hair crown, while the other half was loosely draped over his back, smooth with a faint sheen, reaching waist-length.

He stood there, truly giving off a brilliant and bright aura.

Chuzheng: A person like this on TV almost has ’I’m a main character, co provoke to trigger the plot’ written on their face.

Just look at this attire, this charisma...

Tsk tsk!

The man’s eyelids were lowered, his gaze not on her but on the pot where she kept the fish.

The man spoke again, "Running a shop, why won’t you sell?"

His voice was like pearls dropping on a jade plate, crisp and clean, an auditory pleasure.

Leaning against the shop’s counter, Chuzheng sized him up like a commodity, her icy gaze scrutinizing him freely, "Not selling ans not selling; why should you care why I’m not?"

I have money to burn, can’t I just open a shop for fun and make a loss?

"What if I insist on buying?"

"Then let’s see if you’ve got the skills." My mood’s bad, and soone’s offering themselves up for a beating; it’s a free punch if I don’t hit.

"In that case, never mind." The man lifted the curtain and turned to leave.

Chuzheng: "???"

Aren’t you going to provoke a little more?

[Hidden Task: Please obtain a Good Person Card from Xuan Ying, and save the corrupted Good Person Card.]

[Friendly Reminder: Xuan Ying is the young man you just drove away.]

Chuzheng: "..."

Damn bastard’s character!!

I’ve already driven him away, should I chase after him?

That’s impossible!!

Doesn’t the big boss need face?

He should be very safe, not worried!

With this thought, Chuzheng calmly picked up the pot and went to the backyard.

She didn’t really cook the fish but poured them into an already existing fish tank in the backyard.

From the chirping of the other fish, Chuzheng learned that the fish always calling her ’ugly monster’ was called ’Jin Li’.

You heard right, Jin Li.

Its true form is a Jin Li...

Chuzheng really couldn’t associate this pitch-black thing with the bright, beautiful Jin Li.

Can forwarding a black Jin Li still bring good luck?

Gender is currently unknown; its voice is not quite discernible. Speak softly, and it sounds like a girl, speak loudly, and it sounds like a boy.

It might be a hermaphrodite.

[...] By the divine, a hermaphrodite.

Although Chuzheng didn’t cook them, she still fished out a fish every day, which made Jin Li curse her as an ugly monster all day.

Why do this?

Oh, just boredom.

Who told it to call ugly monster?

Jin Li, seeing its companions growing fewer and fewer, thought about its mates being cooked, fried, and boiled, and got more and more edgy by the day.

When Chuzheng went to catch fish for the umpteenth ti, Jin Li stopped cursing her, protecting its companions behind it, "Let tell you sothing else."

"Forget about the treasure, I don’t need it."

"It’s not about treasure; it’s related to the River God."

Chuzheng was a bit interested and leaned against the fish tank, "Hmm?"

"That River God isn’t from our river," said Jin Li, "He appeared suddenly, but he has the divine seal of a River God."

Chuzheng had already heard about this from Lang Sha.

"And that’s it?"

Jin Li continued, "He asks for a beautiful young woman every year to practice so evil spell. All those won died."

The River God didn’t have much defense against river creatures, especially ones like Jin Li, which had no attack power at all.

To the River God, they were just a bunch of ants that could be crushed at will.

Fish that hadn’t gained enlightennt, no one could understand their speech...

Chuzheng interrupted, "Wait, you’re not enlightened; how can I understand what you’re saying?"

Jin Li rolled its dead fish eyes, "How should I know? Maybe you’re a natural talent."
