Capítulo 1314: Chapter 1314: The Real and Fake Heiresses (20)

May Day Holiday.

Du Xia had been back at the Du Family for quite so ti. Taking advantage of this opportunity, Mr. and Mrs. Du brought Du Xia to so social gatherings within the circle.

Du Xia didn’t grow up in this circle, and even though she had learned so etiquette, she still couldn’t compare to those heiresses who had been learning since they were young. At first, she made quite a few blunders.

The people here were unwilling to associate with Du Xia.

Even if they were courteous on the surface due to the Du Family’s face, they’d turn around and start critiquing her.

Du Xia had overheard this several tis.

However, this wasn’t school, so apart from anger, Du Xia was only left with inferiority in her heart.

And of course, resentnt.

She blad all of this on Chuzheng.

If they hadn’t swapped identities, she wouldn’t be like this now, unable to adapt to these people.

She would have been like them, elegant, generous, dignified, and praised by others.

“That’s Du Xia.”

“Ah, who would have thought sothing like this would happen, it’s more dramatic than a novel.”

“That Du Chuzheng is really pitiful…”

“What’s pitiful about it? It wasn’t hers to begin with.”

“Du Xia, over here…”

Soone asked discontentedly, “Why are you calling her?”

“Just to hang out,” the girl calling Du Xia said with a sly glint in her eyes. “It’s boring anyway.”

Du Xia was wearing a small white dress, though her skin wasn’t very fair, the dress was pretty but it didn’t look so good on her.

Du Xia walked over to the group, trying not to put on a sassy deanor, but instead mimicked the heiresses present, greeting with a closed-mouth smile.

This was sothing Mrs. Du had taught her.

She couldn’t be like she used to be…

Du Xia also wanted to quickly blend into this circle, so she studied earnestly.

But in others’ eyes, she seed to only have grasped the surface and lacked the essence and deanor, making her seem small-minded in her actions.

“I’m Tang Xiaoqing, Auntie introduced us before,” the girl calling Du Xia introduced herself.

Du Xia rembered her, “Hello.”

Tang Xiaoqing familiarly linked arms with her, “Let introduce you, this is Lu Xiaoxiao. And this is…”

Tang Xiaoqing quickly finished introducing everyone.

They were all girls, and the sense of unfamiliarity quickly disappeared under Tang Xiaoqing’s influence, the atmosphere beca very harmonious.

“Du Xia, that person you swapped identities with, Du… oh no, she’s not Du anymore, what’s her surna now?”

Upon hearing Chuzheng ntioned, Du Xia imdiately said, “Yan.”

The girl who spoke continued to ask, “Is Yan Chuzheng still in the sa school as you?”

“Yes.”

“How is she doing?”

“Just so-so.” Du Xia wasn’t keen on discussing Father Yan and Mother Yan’s poverty in front of these people.

After all, it would expose the environnt she used to live in.

“I heard your life before was tough,” Lu Xiaoxiao was curious, “What do your adoptive parents do?”

“…”

“I heard the place you used to live was shabby and old?”

“…”

Du Xia’s face grew increasingly grim, yet the more these people asked, the more interest they showed, as if they were fascinated by the lives of the poor.

“Okay, okay, why are you asking so much?”

Tang Xiaoqing, the leader of this small group, spoke up, and the other girls stopped asking imdiately.

“Don’t mind them, they’re just curious.” Tang Xiaoqing linked arms with Du Xia, “Co on, let’s go over there.”

Perhaps because Tang Xiaoqing helped her out, Du Xia couldn’t help but feel more fondness towards Tang Xiaoqing.

However, Du Xia couldn’t integrate into their topics.

They either talked about luxury goods or costics, most of which Du Xia hadn’t heard of.

“Du Xia, I rember Yan Chuzheng had a Constantin watch, worth over a hundred thousand. Didn’t Uncle buy you one?”

Du Xia didn’t understand the English word, but she did hear the hundred thousand afterwards.

A hundred thousand…

Du Xia’s smile stiffened, “He did, I didn’t bring it.”

Seeing her like this, the girls present roughly understood, each stifling a laugh.

Yet, Du Xia’s attention wasn’t on them at this mont, so she didn’t notice.

After separating from the group, Du Xia found Mrs. Du who was chatting with a group of well-dressed ladies.

“Mom.”

Mrs. Du replied, “Sweetheart, what’s the matter?”

The looks from those around made Du Xia uncomfortable. She pulled Mrs. Du aside, “Mom, did you buy Yan Chuzheng a watch worth over a hundred thousand?”

Mrs. Du frowned, “Oh, that… it was for her birthday.”

At that ti, she was still the treasured daughter of the Du family. Buying a watch worth over a hundred thousand for her wasn’t an issue.

Mrs. Du continued, “It’s still at ho, I didn’t let her take it. If you like it, I can give it to you when we get back.”

“I don’t want sothing she’s worn,” Du Xia showed distaste, “I want a new one.”

Feeling indebted to Du Xia and cherishing this daughter, Mrs. Du didn’t hesitate, “Alright, alright, I’ll have your father buy one.”

Only then was Du Xia satisfied.

Mrs. Du pointed, “You see that boy over there?”

Du Xia looked over where Mrs. Du was pointing, seeing a handso boy having a conversation.

Compared to the boys at school, he was on a completely different level.

Mrs. Du, “That’s Young Master Pei, about your age. I’ll take you to et him.”

“Mom!” Du Xia’s eyes widened.

Thinking Du Xia was shy, Mrs. Du reassured her, “It’s nothing, just get to know him. Be more social. If we can connect with the Pei Family, business will be much easier for us.”

Mrs. Du dragged Du Xia over.

Today’s gathering was hosted by the Pei family, so Young Master Pei, as the young host, couldn’t refuse.

Young Master Pei was personable and very polite to the girls, always wearing a smile.

Du Xia had never seen such a good-looking boy and imdiately felt disoriented.

“Young Master, the gentleman is calling you upstairs.” Soone ca to call Young Master Pei.

Young Master Pei apologized to Mrs. Du and Du Xia, “Excuse for a mont.”

It was only after Young Master Pei left with the person that Du Xia could finally breathe.

“How was it, Xia Xia?”

“Mom…” Du Xia’s face reddened, avoiding Mrs. Du’s gaze.

Mrs. Du chuckled but didn’t press further, changing the topic.

While Du Xia was talking to Mrs. Du, she caught a glimpse of soone out of the corner of her eye, and her expression changed instantly, “Mom, isn’t that Yan Chuzheng?”

Mrs. Du followed her gaze and indeed saw Chuzheng in the crowd.

She stood alone in the crowd, wearing a light-colored dress with a fitted waist. The hem just below the knee exposed her beautifully curved calves.

Her hair was casually styled, with loose strands at the back, simple yet appealing.

Standing coolly and distantly, she drew attention, yet no one dared to approach.

“What’s she doing here?”

Du Xia knew such gatherings required an invitation to enter.

Being the daughter of the Yan family now, with a ho that poor, there’s no way they’d have an invitation to such an event.

How did she get in?
