Capítulo 1321: Chapter 1321: The Real and Fake Heiress (27)
Chuzheng noticed soone staking out downstairs again.
Not the sa group as last ti, but judging by their stance, they must be the sa group.
Whenever Shu Juan showed up, they would too.
Whenever Shu Juan disappeared, they would vanish as well.
Are these people with Shu Juan, or are they watching him?
Chuzheng swung her backpack over her shoulder, glanced at the spot where the person was staking out, and headed outside.
When she reached a breakfast shop, Chuzheng saw Shu Juan inside, her brow slightly raised, and she walked in boldly.
The shabby breakfast shop had only seven or eight tables, all of which were occupied.
Students going to school, young people going to work, elderly buying groceries and dropping off kids, the noisy chatter filled the hectic morning atmosphere.
The boy in the corner seed out of place in such an environnt.
Shu Juan had only ordered a bowl of porridge, with a laptop beside him, operating it singlehandedly.
The shop was full of people, except for Shu Juan who had an entire table to himself.
Suddenly, darkness crept over Shu Juan’s face; he paused his typing slightly, and looked up.
“Morning,” Chuzheng said, pulling out the chair opposite and sitting down with a cool and detached greeting.
Shu Juan: “…”
Shu Juan watched as Chuzheng placed her pink backpack down and sat opposite with a casual air. His fingertips brushed the keyboard, and after a mont, he replied, “Morning.”
Chuzheng ordered breakfast and began eating slowly without speaking.
Shu Juan stared at her.
After a long ti without looking away, Chuzheng couldn’t help but ask, “Are you trying to fill up by just looking at ?”
Shu Juan withdrew his gaze, closed his laptop, and asked, “Why are you up so early?”
“School.”
“…” Right, he forgot, this girl was still in school.
Shu Juan glanced at Chuzheng’s backpack: “What grade are you in?”
“Junior year.”
After finishing her al, Chuzheng turned to look outside: “Is that person outside staking out for you?”
Shu Juan followed her gaze but looked away after just a second, casting a strange look at her.
“How did you know they were staking out for ?”
Chuzheng responded casually, “These people show up when you co back, and disappear when you leave. Who else would they be staking out for if not you?”
“You were able to notice them.” In such a mixed crowd, untrained individuals wouldn’t have noticed; how did she?
Chuzheng lifted her chin slightly, saying nothing, silently indicating she could.
She was just that good!
“Yes, they’re staking out for .” Shu Juan continued drinking porridge: “But it doesn’t really affect .”
“Want to take care of them for you?” Chuzheng nacingly gestured with her spoon, her eyes gleaming with eager anticipation.
“…” Shu Juan choked slightly: “No need.”
Chuzheng seed quite disappointed: “I’m going to school now.”
“Ah…” Shu Juan was caught off guard, softly responding, “Oh, okay.”
After responding, Shu Juan felt sothing was off. Why did he feel like they were so familiar?
They had only t a few tis?
Shu Juan reached for the cross pendant on his chest, watching Chuzheng’s figure disappear through the shop door, deep in thought. After a while, he finished his porridge and prepared to pay and leave with his laptop.
“It’s already paid.”
“…”
Shu Juan slid his wallet back into his pocket, put on his hat, and walked out of the shop.
He looked in a certain direction, pondered for a mont, then strolled to a car and knocked.
The car stayed silent for a long ti, but Shu Juan patiently kept knocking.
Finally, the rear window reluctantly rolled down, revealing an unremarkable face.
“How long are you guys going to follow ?”
The person replied, “When you hand over the item, that’s when we’ll stop following you.”
Impatience and displeasure tinged Shu Juan’s features: “The item isn’t with . I’ve told you multiple tis.”
“… That’s useless to tell . The higher-ups need to be convinced.”
Shu Juan fell silent: “Do whatever you want.”
He turned around with his laptop in hand and walked a few paces before stopping and turning back: “You’ve been discovered.”
“???”
–
Chuzheng was worried that Shu Juan had taken off again, but to her surprise, he was still at ho when she returned.
“Is there sothing you want?”
“Just checking if you’re still alive.” If he ran again, she’d have to think of a way to break his legs and lock him up!
“Thanks for your concern, I won’t be dying for now.” Shu Juan leaned against the door, paused slightly: “Want to co in?”
Wait!! Why is he inviting her in?
But since he already said it, Shu Juan couldn’t take it back, just hoping Chuzheng would refuse.
Chuzheng wasn’t one to refuse.
She had to fulfill the expectations of the Good Person Card.
So, she brazenly stepped inside.
Shu Juan took a slight breath, unsure why he invited her in a fit of madness.
–
The room hadn’t changed much since before, with tightly drawn curtains and a floor lamp emitting faint light.
Chuzheng spotted the open storage room: “What did you do with that person from last ti?”
Shu Juan went to the kitchen to pour a glass of water: “Kiddo, study hard, don’t ask about things you shouldn’t.”
Kiddo, my foot!
Who’s a kid!!
Chuzheng remained calmly composed: “That person was caught by .”
Shu Juan graciously thanked her: “Thank you.”
“…”
Shu Juan had made up his mind not to tell her what happened to that person.
Chuzheng, mindful of her pride, didn’t press for details.
Restraint over curiosity was a quality a big shot should possess.
With a blank expression, Chuzheng sat in the living room, pulled out her howork from her backpack, and began doing assignnts.
“…”
Shu Juan didn’t know what to say; wasn’t she afraid of him doing anything to her?
Then again, with her skills, maybe she had nothing to fear.
But still…
Was she being a little too casual?
Coming in just because she was invited? Now she was nonchalantly doing howork here? What did she take this place for?
Shu Juan went over to glance at what she was writing.
“A reflection?” Shu Juan’s tone was odd: “What are you reflecting on?”
“Got caught climbing the wall.” Chuzheng gritted her back teeth.
The dean was so elusive; Chuzheng suspected she had a ‘100% caught climbing the wall by the dean’ buff in this realm.
Shu Juan raised an eyebrow: “You skipped class?”
Chuzheng seriously defended herself: “I’m a good student who doesn’t skip classes.”
Good student?
She didn’t look like any good student!
“Then how did you get caught climbing the wall?”
“…” Can’t I climb walls after school?!
Watching her write the reflection at a painstakingly slow pace made Shu Juan want to help her write it.
Unable to stand it, he went to the bedroom to fetch his laptop, sat down nearby, and started working on his own tasks.
“I’m hungry.” Chuzheng suddenly spoke up.
“Your house is just downstairs.” Shu Juan said without looking up.
“They’re not ho.” Chuzheng lied through her teeth with a straight face.
Mother Yan had actually returned, and Chuzheng had just texted her that she wasn’t going ho to eat.
Shu Juan: “…”
The two of them were at a standstill for a while, Shu Juan’s stomach began to protest too, so he put down his laptop and went to the kitchen.
Once in the kitchen, Shu Juan raised his hand to rub his brow.
Why did he accommodate her?
With a frown, Shu Juan opened the fridge, gave the contents a quick scan, and took out a few items.
