Capítulo 1400: Chapter 1400: The Gate General’s Powerful Consort (Part 10)

The Regent Prince glanced behind the curtain, not refuting the Young Emperor’s words, clearly in agreent.

The two officials from the Dali Temple and The Inspectorate promptly accepted their orders.

Finally, the Young Emperor awarded the thirty thousand taels of silver from Chuzheng to the person who captured the culprit.

After the court session, the Young Emperor and Chuzheng left together.

“Mother, you’re so impressive.”

Chuzheng: “…”

What’s so impressive about that?

It’s rely giving an order.

You haven’t seen my true strengths yet!

Chuzheng looked at the Young Emperor: “This was supposed to be your responsibility, and now I’m taking it on for you. Are you living up to your mother?”

“…Mother, I’m sorry.”

“Study hard.”

The Young Emperor pouted: “But it’s so difficult. And isn’t there still the Prince?”

“If you want to be a puppet controlled by him, just obediently listen to him.”

Chuzheng said this without any concealnt.

Eunuch Yang De, listening at the back, felt his heart tremble, and he quickly waved his hand, letting the people around them step back a bit.

The Regent Prince’s ambition was unmistakably revealed when he showed up with that Imperial Decree after the late Emperor passed away.

The Young Emperor, however, felt that the Regent Prince was helping him.

Eunuch Yang De had hinted to the Young Emperor several tis but never too clearly, fearing that the Young Emperor might act awkwardly in front of the Regent Prince.

Unexpectedly, the Young Emperor hadn’t grasped even the subtle hints.

The Young Emperor looked at Chuzheng in confusion: “Mother?”

The Prince had been so good to him.

When he didn’t understand sothing, the Prince was the one to resolve it for him.

Isn’t that good?

“Your uncle doesn’t have good intentions; he wants you to beco a useless puppet Emperor. Eunuch Yang De.”

Eunuch Yang De took two steps forward: “The Empress Dowager.”

“Find him so history books to read.”

“…Yes.”

Chuzheng dismissed the Young Emperor to read historical books and headed to Calm Palace with Su Xue.

Ordered to read, the Young Emperor hadn’t shown his face for several days.

That evening, Chuzheng ca out from inside and looked up to see the small, desolate figure sitting outside the palace doors.

The golden sun setting to the west, the Young Emperor appeared lonely and pitiable.

But unfortunately…

Chuzheng felt nothing.

Chuzheng walked up behind him: “Why are you sitting at my door?”

“Mother.”

The Young Emperor turned around, looking worn out, with dark circles under his eyes.

“…” Oh my gosh!

The Young Emperor had been reading the books that Eunuch Yang De found for him these past few days.

Eunuch Yang De, sensing Chuzheng’s intentions, had given him books about historical puppet Emperors.

It wasn’t reading that made the Young Emperor sleepless, though.

He simply couldn’t sleep.

“The Prince has been so good to ; how could he…”

Chuzheng lingered for a mont between sitting down on the hot ground or picking up the Young Emperor and taking him inside, eventually choosing the latter decisively.

The Young Emperor, forgetting his sadness, watched Chuzheng in shock.

“Mother, you’re so strong.”

Chuzheng threw him onto a chair and sat beside him: “Do you like him a lot?”

The Young Emperor blinked: “The Prince? He’s very good to . When I was little and Father was busy, it was the Prince who took out to play.”

Heh.

Whoever plays with you is good to you, right?

Your affection is far too cheap.

“Will the Prince really…”

“He will,” Chuzheng said coldly. “If it weren’t for the fact that killing you would be unjustifiable, you would have long been dead.”

“…”

The Young Emperor shivered.

He couldn’t possibly imagine the Prince doing such a thing.

“But…he’s my uncle.”

“In the face of the throne, even brothers and fathers and sons can turn on each other.”

Such accounts are not uncommon in history books.

The Young Emperor had seen them.

But…

The Young Emperor was still at an age where he believed in kinship and everything.

“If you don’t want to be Emperor, you could abdicate to him. It would save trouble.”

The Young Emperor was montarily stunned, sowhat yearning: “…Can I do that?”

Chuzheng added in a whisper: “If you’re not afraid your father will beat you to death.”

Young Emperor: “…”

Chuzheng patted the Young Emperor on the shoulder: “Observe for yourself. See how many people are his among the court officials now.”

Following Chuzheng’s advice, the Young Emperor began observing the court officials during assemblies.

Under normal circumstances, the ministers would speak freely.

But when major issues arose, so would remain silent.

Only when the Regent Prince spoke would this group find their voice.

And the Young Emperor also discovered that people around him seed sowhat off…as if they were secretly monitoring him.

“Your Majesty?”

“Your Majesty?”

The Young Emperor ca to his senses, looking at the Regent Prince who was calling him.

This uncle whom he had admired and respected…was thinking about how to make him useless or, perhaps, to destroy him.

Thinking of this, the Young Emperor couldn’t help but shiver.

The Regent Prince looked concerned: “Your Majesty, have you not been resting well lately?”

The Young Emperor t the Regent Prince’s eyes, pursed his lips, and replied: “Stayed up too late playing.”

The Regent Prince did not doubt him, shaking his head in mock helplessness: “You mustn’t do that.”

The Young Emperor responded a couple of tis before letting others continue the previous topic.

After the session, possibly afraid of facing the Regent Prince, the Young Emperor left alone first.

Chuzheng left the Golden Luan Hall, not getting far before the Regent Prince called out.

“The Empress Dowager.”

Su Xue’s hand trembled as she supported Chuzheng’s arm: “The Empress Dowager, the Regent Prince…”

“I heard.”

Chuzheng turned to see the Regent Prince approaching alone from a side path.

“The Empress Dowager.”

He bowed in salute.

Just looking at him, he’s quite the comndable middle-aged man.

Just that his deeds are sowhat contemptible.

A true depiction of a refined scoundrel.

Chuzheng tucked her hands into her sleeves: “Prince, haven’t you had enough dicine?”

The Regent Prince: “…”

She dared to bring this up with him!

The Regent Prince felt he was filled with bitterness.

He never wanted to drink dicine again in this life!

The Regent Prince calmly waved at Su Xue: “You all may leave; I have sothing to discuss with the Empress Dowager.”

“Then…” Chuzheng paused, then said, “You all can go.”

“The Empress Dowager…”

“It’s fine.” Chuzheng was full of confidence.

Dealing with a Regent Prince, this widow can handle it!

Su Xue left, turning back every few steps, looking very worried.

The Regent Prince clicked his tongue softly, his eyes roaming over her.

“You’ve been putting on an act for for so long; are you finally unable to resist showing your true colors?”

Chuzheng’s words were ambiguous: “My true colors?”

The Regent Prince smiled with interest in his eyes: “I’m even more interested in this version of you, Your Majesty.”

Chuzheng’s hand tightened on her wrist under her sleeves: “You know nothing about .”

The Regent Prince raised a hand, trying to touch Chuzheng’s cheek: “Then give a chance, let get to know you better.”

Chuzheng tilted her head to avoid it, but said: “Sure.”

The Regent Prince’s hand landed on empty air, but he wasn’t angry upon hearing Chuzheng’s agreent. Instead, he showed a trace of delight.

The next second, the girl opposite suddenly kicked.

The Regent Prince, unprepared, was hit right where it hurt.

Clutching his groin, the Regent Prince’s complexion turned pale, then flushed, the color spreading up his neck as veins bulged on his forehead in a terrifying appearance.

Pain…

So much pain…
