Capítulo 1413: Chapter 1413: The Regent’s Noble Consort (23)

Next day, morning court.

The Empress Dowager secretly leaving the Sumr Resort with the Young Emperor had all the ministers in a fervor, ‘advising’ the Young Emperor not to do such dangerous things again.

Fortunately, the Young Emperor is an Emperor, so besides murmuring, they couldn’t really do anything to him.

But the Regent Prince took it to a new level, giving the Young Emperor a thorough reprimand.

Chuzheng sent a small note to the Young Emperor, offering a mischievous idea: You can punish him for disrespect.

Young Emperor: That’s not good, the prince won’t suspect .

Chuzheng: What are you afraid of? Just make a fuss with him; he’ll only think you’re being unreasonable.

Young Emperor: …

The Young Emperor seed to grasp the essence of being young.

Thus, the Regent Prince was soon sent to sweep all the steps of the Sumr Resort due to the Young Emperor’s antics.

When Rong Shi finished dealing with Lord Ding, he returned to find the Regent Prince sweeping the steps.

“The Prince is in such good spirits.”

Regent Prince: “…”

Receiving such remarks now, the Regent Prince just wanted to hit soone.

The Regent Prince threw down the broom: “Rong Shi, you indulged the Empress Dowager and the Emperor in leaving the palace; if anything had happened, how would you bear the consequences?”

Rong Shi replied coolly, “The imperial command is difficult to defy. I do what’s within my duty.”

Rong Shi nodded slightly and strode off.

The Regent Prince was so angry, he kicked the broom with hands on his hips.

Infuriating!

Rong Shi prepared to visit Princess Yudie.

But since Princess Yudie and Chuzheng resided in the sa palace, Rong Shi hesitated.

While he was hesitating, suddenly there was a commotion up ahead, with faint screams of won.

Rong Shi turned down a corridor and soon saw a group of people scattering around the garden chaotically.

In the air, buzzing things flew around, constantly attacking the one in the middle.

Rong Shi’s hand tightened slightly on his sword.

His peripheral vision swept to the other end of the corridor.

Chuzheng stood leaning lazily there, looking carelessly at the commotion.

Rong Shi felt a slight jolt in his heart.

When he looked back at the chaotic crowd, indeed it was the Third Princess in the middle…

When he glanced back at where Chuzheng was, she was already gone.

Rong Shi quickly walked through the corridor, standing where Chuzheng had just been to look around.

“General Rong, looking for ?”

Rong Shi turned his head sharply, Chuzheng stood amidst the dense shrubs.

“You…”

“Are you sure you want to talk to while standing there?”

Rong Shi looked around, feeling a pit in his stomach, but in the end, he walked over to her.

Behind the shrubs was a small pathway, connecting a few rockeries.

The entwining vines made this place feel particularly tranquil.

Chuzheng walked a bit along the path and leaned casually against a rockery.

Rong Shi stood a few steps away: “Is it the Empress Dowager’s doing?”

“General Rong should mind his words, when did you see doing it?”

“Then she…”

Chuzheng casually replied, “Karma, perhaps.”

Rong Shi: “…”

Karma working so fast?

Chuzheng didn’t want to elaborate, and Rong Shi didn’t press further.

“Is Yudie… okay?”

“…”

Chuzheng’s eyes narrowed slightly, she suddenly approached and grabbed Rong Shi, pressing him against the rockery beside.

Before Rong Shi could react, Chuzheng had already kissed him.

“This way’s a bit closer, hurry up or we’ll get scolded again.”

“Stop rushing, I have things to carry…”

“Hurry up.”

The sound of footsteps and conversation ca from a distance, seemingly heading this way.

Rong Shi’s pupils contracted slightly.

Chuzheng pulled him into hiding among the rocks.

“Shhh…”

Chuzheng covered his mouth again, her voice light with warning: “General Rong, you better keep quiet.”

The footsteps drew closer.

Rong Shi didn’t dare to make a sound, even his breathing beca shallow.

The lighting inside the rocks was dim.

He felt like he couldn’t see anything.

Not knowing where he was, not knowing what he was doing.

Everything felt surreal.

Soon, the people outside had moved away.

Rong Shi leaned back against the rock, his entire body tensed.

For a long ti, he suddenly pushed Chuzheng away, his breathing disrupted, with a hint of anger he uttered: “The Empress Dowager!”

Chuzheng, pushed aside, casually leaned back, and calmly tidied her clothes.

“General Rong, are you shouting loud so others can hear?”

Rong Shi: “…”

Rong Shi’s chaotic breaths gradually steadied: “What are you really up to?”

“General Rong doesn’t understand?”

“…”

He didn’t want to understand.

Chuzheng stood up, getting close to Rong Shi.

He abruptly moved back, but he was already against the rockery, nowhere to retreat.

Chuzheng raised her hand and tidied his collar, her voice cold and elegant: “I’ll teach you slowly from now on.”

Chuzheng kissed his lips lightly, then arrogantly turned and left.

Rong Shi watched Chuzheng leave, standing in the narrow cave, the stifling heat in the air seed to continue rising, almost igniting him.

Rong Shi pressed a fist against his forehead, an indescribable feeling lingering at the tip of his heart.

Her image kept flashing through his mind.

The surges of emotions, both strange and familiar, overtook him.

Marquis Boan heard that the Third Princess was stung by wasps and barely survived, and hurried from the Capital City.

The distance between them was vast.

By the ti Marquis Boan arrived, the Third Princess had passed the critical ti, but her face was still in a sorry state.

After eting the Third Princess, Marquis Boan imdiately rushed to see Chuzheng.

“Empress Dowager, please uphold justice for the Third Princess,” Marquis Boan said with a righteous indignation.

Chuzheng sipped her tea leisurely, “What justice?”

Marquis Boan’s heart ached, “The incident with the wasps must be intentional, please investigate thoroughly, Empress Dowager.”

Thinking of the Third Princess’s face made Marquis Boan heartache.

“Oh.” Chuzheng put down her teacup, “I’ve asked, and the palace maids and eunuchs present said that the Third Princess accidentally disturbed the wasps’ nest herself.”

“How could that be!” Marquis Boan’s voice rose, “Why would the Third Princess bother a wasps’ nest for no reason?”

Chuzheng: “You’ll have to ask the Third Princess herself.”

Marquis Boan: “…”

He had just co from the Third Princess.

The Third Princess’s account didn’t match Chuzheng’s at all.

Marquis Boan said, “Empress Dowager, it’s rumored this is Princess Yudie’s revenge, do you know of it?”

Chuzheng casually rotated the teacup with her fingers, “Where did Marquis hear such rumors?”

Marquis Boan: “A few days ago Princess Yudie was stung by wasps, then a couple of days later, the Third Princess suffered the sa fate. Empress Dowager, do you really think this is just a rumor?”

This was clearly preditated revenge!

“This is just Marquis’s speculation, do you have any evidence?”

Marquis Boan frowned, “Empress Dowager, are you protecting Princess Yudie?”

It was said recently that Princess Yudie and the Empress Dowager were very close…

Chuzheng’s eyes turned cold, “Are you questioning ?”

The sudden chilling aura from the young girl startled Marquis Boan.

This Empress Dowager…

Marquis Boan felt doubts within, slowly bowed his head, “I dare not.”

No matter what, this person was the Empress Dowager.

Resentful inside but couldn’t afford to make a mistake in etiquette.

“Since Marquis ntioned this matter, let’s discuss Princess Yudie getting stung by wasps.”
