Chapter 1436: Chapter 1436: mories of the Seventies (11)

Chuzheng returned ho to find Zhang Xiaoping talking to a woman.

Seeing her return, Zhang Xiaoping gestured to her with a nod of her chin.

The woman regarded her as if with X-ray eyes, sizing her up like selecting goods, and nodded approvingly.

“Alright, set a date, and we’ll get this done.”

“No problem, no problem.”

Zhang Xiaoping sent the person out, glanced at Chuzheng, and surprisingly did not curse as she sashayed into the house.

Chuzheng directly followed the woman outside, intercepting her in the wild countryside.

“You… what are you doing?”

It was getting dark, and with Chuzheng looking so bandit-like, the woman was a bit scared.

Chuzheng asked her, “What did Zhang Xiaoping say to you?”

“…Just said… about your marriage,” the woman replied. “Don’t worry, marry…”

“Are you a matchmaker?” Chuzheng interrupted her.

The woman nodded, “I am.”

Chuzheng asked, “Do you know who the person is, and do you think they deserve ?”

Woman: “…”

With Chuzheng looking so stunning, how could they deserve her?

But the money offered was significant, and Zhang Xiaoping promised that if the deal went through, she would get an additional share.

So now, the matchmaker began to speak blatant lies.

Praising soone from the neighboring village as if they were a celestial being.

“So good, why don’t you marry them?”

“Oh, you silly girl, what nonsense are you saying? Look how old I am!!”

Chuzheng: “He’s more than ten years older than , and you dare say it. You’re not far off either, what’s the problem?”

“…”

It’s not the sa, is it?

n being more than a decade older than won isn’t too outrageous.

A woman being more than a decade older than a man—that’s just embarrassing, isn’t it?

The four fields were barren, and Night Color was beginning to envelop the figure before her.

Her outline beca indistinct, emitting a chilling aura, like the feeling of encountering a ghost in the middle of the night…

A mysterious breeze brushed past the matchmaker’s neck, sending shivers down her spine and raising goosebumps.

The matchmaker hugged her arms, “Miss, it was your mother who sought out, I’m just matchmaking…”

Chuzheng pressed closer to the matchmaker, “You want to make money?”

Matchmaker: “…”

If she didn’t want money, why would she do this?

“I’ll give you a job.”

Chuzheng signaled for the matchmaker to co over.

With hesitation, the eerie little girl made her feel uneasy.

Yet, Chuzheng stood blocking her only path, and the matchmaker could only move closer.

When she finished listening to Chuzheng, the matchmaker blurted out, “Isn’t this heartless?”

“You still know what heartless is?” Chuzheng’s tone was indifferent, “When you tried to matchmake for , didn’t you care?”

“…”

The matchmaker, flustered, turned red under Chuzheng’s words.

Chuzheng pulled out a wad of bills and placed them in the matchmaker’s hand, “This is the deposit, complete it, and you’ll get ten tis this amount.”

By the faint light, the matchmaker saw the money Chuzheng handed over, her eyes imdiately glead.

Ten tis…

How many matches would she need to make to earn this kind of money?!

“Can you do it?”

“Yes, yes, yes, absolutely yes.” The matchmaker, seeing the money, instantly patted her chest in assurance.

Chuzheng backed off, indicating she could leave.

The matchmaker pocketed the huge sum, gleefully leaving.

Chuzheng returned to the village, the matchmaker wanted to take a shortcut back to the neighboring village, not choosing the usual main road, Chuzheng walked slowly on the rough path.

Just when she reached the place where the village stored haystacks, she heard Luo Jiaojiao’s coy voice.

“Don’t do that…”

The voice was shy and playful.

Along with the rustling of clothes.

Chuzheng heard Ling Jiaojiao whispering anxiously, “What if soone cos?”

“At this ti, who would co up here for no reason.”

This voice was familiar to Chuzheng, it was her ex-boyfriend—Xu Dawei.

Unexpectedly, Jiaojiao and Xu Dawei got involved so early…

Indeed, the haystack area was quite remote, on the other side was the village’s cetery, truly no one would wander around here on a whim.

The matchmaker wanted to take a shortcut, plus it wasn’t completely dark yet, so she chose this path.

Chuzheng stood listening for a while, the two quickly got into their business.

Just as Chuzheng was about to leave, Xu Dawei was already done.

Chuzheng: “????”

How short was that?

This Dawei just isn’t capable!!

Chuzheng didn’t stay, quietly slipping away.

When she walked up a slope, suddenly a sound ca from above, a clatter, like sothing rolling down.

She looked up, only to see a dark mass tumbling down.

Startled, Chuzheng hurriedly jumped aside.

Splash—

That thing rolled directly into the nearby pond.

Chuzheng: “…”

What the hell!

Scared to death!

The pond wasn’t deep, the thing landed at the edge, not sinking.

Chuzheng stood for a mont, slowly moved closer, bending down to inspect.

It was a person in the water, completely still, not even knowing if they were still alive.

Should I hurry up and get out of here?

Chuzheng walked two steps forward but returned.

“Be a good person!”

She took a deep breath, bending down to see if the person was dead.

If so, she would run away quickly.

“Daya? Is that Daya over there?”

Chuzheng had just reached out, when a voice ca from behind.

Daya my foot!

Chuzheng turned to look, seeing a man coming down another path with a hoe over his shoulder.

Seeing that the man was about to co down, Chuzheng instinctively pressed the person into the water.

If this person was dead, wouldn’t I be a suspect?

“Daya, what are you doing?” The man didn’t co down but stood there asking.

“Washing things.”

The man leaned over to look, maybe saw a dark mass, assuming it was clothes or sothing.

But washing clothes so late?

The man was suspicious but didn’t think too far off, shoulders his hoe and walked up, “I’m going to get so dry hay back, you go ho soon, it’s so late now.”

Chuzheng: “…”

Chuzheng watched the man leave.

The person she was holding down began to struggle, reaching out, trying to grab onto sothing.

Still alive!

Chuzheng imdiately let go, and that person clung onto the edge, pulling themselves out of the water.

“Cough cough cough…”

[Hidden Task: Please obtain one Good Person Card from Wun Sheng, save the darkened Good Person Card.]

Chuzheng: “…”

Aside from my uncle-like villager and this one in the water, there were no others.

So here’s the dilemma.

I just pressed the Good Person Card into the water, will the Good Person Card still think I’m good?

Can I rewind ti now?

Obviously not, ti had already passed, even if rewinding, it’d only go back to when he was pressed into the water.

Oh shit, oh shit, oh shit!!

Can the Good Person Card have a sudden mory loss?

The bastard of a son of a bitch definitely did that on purpose!!
