Now reading: Chapter 1531: Death List (Final) from Let's Squander A Billion First!, a Sci-fi novel by Mo Ling.

The child picked up a pair of glasses from beside the sofa and handed them to Chuzheng, "You can take a look at the outside world."

Chuzheng: "..."

Fine, I’ll look!

Who’s afraid of whom!

Chuzheng put on the glasses. At first, all she saw was darkness, then it felt like she was traveling through ti and space, sinking downward.

Light and shadows danced around, and the scene spun rapidly—nothing was clear.

About ten seconds later, starlight appeared before her eyes.

She seed to be standing amongst the stars, before her was the vast universe, the brilliant starry sky.

The child’s voice ca from beside Chuzheng’s ear, "Do you see that gray planet? That was your old planet."

To the left of Chuzheng’s viewpoint, there was a gray planet.

That planet was already dead.

There wasn’t a single living person on it.

And the child ca from an advanced civilization. They established this place to observe the humans who once lived on that planet, to create records.

To humans, they might be seen as akin to historians.

But they record the history of the universe, including civilizations, planets, and races.

Besides Simulation Room No. 7, there were several other simulation rooms, each observing different things.

Simulation Room No. 7 observed the relationships between individuals.

Chuzheng took off the glasses, the child across from her still sitting in the sa position.

Chuzheng: "How do I know if this is what you want to see?"

The child said, "I have no need to deceive you."

Chuzheng gave him a dismissive glance, "I rember when the incident happened, it was still fine."

The child: "Yes, you died in The Year 2023. The planet was destroyed in The Year 2024."

"..."

If she died, why is she still here?

Didn’t the administrator earlier say that all players are real people?

The child continued, "You are all consciousnesses."

From an advanced civilization, they can capture consciousnesses and place them here.

In extre survival scenarios, racial traits can be better displayed.

It’s not just humans; every race in the universe is the sa.

If they’re consciousnesses... indeed, they can be resurrected in the ga.

A perfectly good survival ga turned into an alien civilization rescue ga?

Chuzheng maintained a skeptical attitude but didn’t show it, "Were those administrators tricked by you?"

"Yes."

Administrators are also an observational presence.

"Then why are you telling now?"

The child asked back, "Weren’t you the one who sought us out?"

"..."

The child’s aning is, if another player discovers it and seeks them out, they would also inform that player.

"Aren’t you afraid I’ll spread the word?"

"After correction, no one will rember." The child was actually puzzled why Chuzheng couldn’t be corrected, but there are always so people who are different—it’s no big deal.

Alright then.

You’re impressive!

-

Chuzheng left, feeling a bit surreal.

"Is what the bastard said true?"

[...More or less.] You’re supposed to be wasting money. Now you’re investigating their background, can’t you just be cool about it!!

"..."

The King’s Account wouldn’t make things up about the background, so... it’s probably true then.

She’s really dead now.

Not just existing as a consciousness, but according to what the child said, if she leaves here, she’ll fall into a chaotic state where she knows nothing.

It’s their civilization’s technology that allows her to exist like a real person, with perception and thought.

Chuzheng fell silent.

"Don’t they watch shower, eat, and sleep every day?"

[...] Why is your focus on this?

Chuzheng went back again.

Upon hearing Chuzheng’s question, the child answered rather rigidly, "No, these will be automatically filtered. What we see is just a blur."

Chuzheng: "..."

Put a mosaic on it, should I praise you for it?

Chuzheng had another question, "Once you’ve finished observing, what happens to our consciousnesses?"

"They will be sent back to your planet. You are already dead, there’s nothing we can do." The demise of a civilization is not sothing they can prevent.

Alright then.

She’s going to turn into a clueless blob of consciousness soon.

What about the Good Person Card!!

"Can’t this place be preserved?"

The child looked up at her, "Running a simulation room requires energy. Even if it’s left to you, you can only last a century at most."

"A century is enough." The bastard wouldn’t allow it to be too long anyway.

"No."

"Think about it again." Chuzheng remained unchanged in expression, "Otherwise, I’m not sure you can finish your observations properly."

Between the lines, there was clearly a threat.

The child: "..."

The child thought of what Chuzheng had been doing recently. If she continued to cause trouble, the simulation room would have to be continuously corrected.

Constant correction ans processes will be delayed, falling behind the other simulation rooms, which would be his issue.

The child wasn’t very inclined to agree.

As an advanced civilization, how could they be threatened by others?

The control of the simulation rooms wasn’t in Chuzheng’s hands, so they had ways to deal with Chuzheng.

The idea was beautiful.

But when they really tried to deal with Chuzheng, they found it wasn’t that easy.

Not to ntion Chuzheng occupied the whole control room—even the people they sent weren’t her match.

The child: "I’ll apply for it."

One simulation room wasn’t a big deal to them, but there had never been such a precedent before.

After all, there’s never been an observed subject finding out they’re being observed and then coming to negotiate.

-

Ten days later.

The child ca to find Chuzheng personally, agreeing to leave the simulation room but with one condition.

She must enter the dungeons and complete all of them.

Chuzheng: "..."

I think it’s better to say goodbye in the next life.

How many dungeons has she gone through?

Over two hundred dungeons—how long would it take her to finish!!

For the Good Person Card, Chuzheng reluctantly agreed.

Taking advantage of her control room privilege, she also tagged Xi Mu along.

While others were struggling to survive in the dungeons, Chuzheng and Xi Mu flaunted their love, which at least had the upside of speeding up dungeon completion.

Chuzheng received so occasional Thank-You Cards, but they were very few.

It’s quite disappointing.

No basic trust between people.

Excessive!

"Xiao Chu."

Xi Mu descended from upstairs holding a death list.

Chuzheng leaned wantonly against the window, raising her eyelids slightly to glance at Xi Mu, silently asking what he was doing.

"Why do you always have to bring along?" Xi Mu pointed to the death list.

"I feel at ease with you by my side." What if that pervert Jih Youtang bothers you again? Protect your own card!

"???

What can he not be at ease about?

Chuzheng suddenly approached him and called him seriously, "Xi Mu."

Xi Mu’s body stiffened slightly, "Hmm?"

"You..." Chuzheng’s gaze road over his face for a mont, "Do you not want to go with ?"

"..." As if! Why else would he save up so many points?!

However, Xi Mu didn’t say this.

Xi Mu’s lips curved slightly, drawing a hint of a smile, "Wherever you go, I will go."

I like you—it’s a love bound by fate, life and death intertwined.
