Mi Yan remained silent, listening to President Huang finish his speech.

"Such rumors circulating within the company are detrintal to the company image. Director Mi, do you know where they’re coming from?"

Mi Yan glanced at Chuzheng beside him, pondered for a mont, and said, "I’m not really sure about this matter myself; I just suddenly heard such rumors... I know Sang Yu very well; he’s definitely not this kind of person. Back then, there was sothing behind that incident; Sang Yu would never do such a thing..."

"Wait." President Huang paused, "Are you saying this incident really happened?"

"Um..." Mi Yan hesitated, looking troubled.

President Huang saw that Chuzheng hadn’t spoken and signaled Mi Yan to continue, "Explain in detail what happened?"

Mi Yan initially refused to speak, but as President Huang grew impatient, he reluctantly recounted the matter.

"Sang Yu is like a deity we look up to at school; I trust him, President Huang. Can I handle this matter?"

"You trust him?"

A cold voice from a girl rang out.

Mi Yan looked toward Chuzheng. At so point, she had turned around, hands in her pockets, her delicate features full of indifference, making the air in the room seem several degrees colder.

Mi Yan’s spine felt chilly, but he quickly reacted.

"Yes, Miss Lu, I know Sang Yu’s character well."

"You know, because it was you who set him up?"

The room suddenly went silent.

President Huang looked at Chuzheng, shocked, while Mi Yan stood frozen, his heart pounding fiercely.

What did she an by that?

Chuzheng broke the bizarre silence, "I thought I’d need more ti to catch your wrongdoing, but you couldn’t wait, saving ti. What a Good Person Card you are."

Mi Yan: "..."

After a fleeting panic, Mi Yan quickly suppressed it and asked, "Miss Lu, what do you an by that?"

Chuzheng walked to President Huang’s desk, pulled out a docunt, and tossed it in front of Mi Yan.

Mi Yan stared at the docunt, a myriad of thoughts flashed through his mind, and after thirty seconds, he picked up the docunt to read.

"Why didn’t you use a different computer while sending those emails?"

The company’s internal network is easy to trace; changing an account won’t let you escape.

"I never sent such emails," Mi Yan defended himself, placing the docunt down, "Sang Yu is the senior I respect most; how could I send such emails!"

"Most respected? Well, he really is unlucky." The Good Person Card has the worst of luck encountering soone as unfortunate as you.

Mi Yan: "..."

This woman is certain he did it.

Considering past events, Mi Yan began to form so guesses.

President Huang hadn’t figured out what was happening, so he took the docunt for a quick look.

"Director Sang, this..."

"President Huang, I really don’t know what’s going on; my office isn’t locked, and many people co and go..."

Mi Yan started to shift the bla, portraying himself as entirely innocent.

President Huang had worked with Mi Yan for quite a long ti. Although Mi Yan occasionally lost his temper, overall, he was a decent person.

He couldn’t quite believe Mi Yan would do such a thing.

What benefit would he gain from discrediting a newly hired freelance photographer?

"Miss Lu, regarding this matter..."

"Fire him."

"What?"

President Huang was so stunned his jaw nearly dropped.

The situation wasn’t clarified yet, how could Mi Yan be fired? He wasn’t just any employee who could be dismissed so casually.

Chuzheng gave him a sidelong glance, "Did you not understand? If you don’t fire him, I’ll fire you. Don’t worry, I’ll surely convince the other board mbers."

Though her tone was level, President Huang felt a chill creep over him.

This isn’t fair play!

Mi Yan frowned, a vein on his forehead faintly bulging, "Miss Lu, I said this has nothing to do with ..."

Chuzheng interrupted without care, "Oh, I just want to fire you. Think you can stop !"

Mi Yan: "..."

-

Chuzheng was adamant; she said Mi Yan would be fired, and he would be, producing a prepared notice for President Huang to have copied and posted.

It’s not like she was firing him without reason; she had evidence—even though Mi Yan denied it.

Evidently, to Chuzheng, whether Mi Yan admitted it or not was insignificant.

The notice stated Mi Yan spread rumors and slandered colleagues, conduct the company couldn’t tolerate, thus the decision to dismiss him.

The notice clearly conveyed: The recent rumors about Sang Yu in the company were spread by Mi Yan. The company has now dismissed the rumor spreader.

Mi Yan realized at that mont that no matter what he said, the other party wouldn’t listen.

She was determined to fire him.

Mi Yan’s plan was actually sound; if Chuzheng hadn’t interfered, Sang Yu—even if he joined the company—would soon face various trouble due to these rumors.

If the rumors escalated, the company wouldn’t just sit back.

The horrible part was Chuzheng’s presence here.

With a grim expression, Mi Yan packed his belongings, his assistant trembling beside him, "Director, are you really leaving?"

The notice had been issued; what else could he do but leave? Staying would only invite ridicule.

Could he compete with the capitalists?

As Mi Yan erged with his belongings, the employees outside wore varied expressions.

With things happening so quickly, many were left bewildered, unsure about how it escalated to this.

Mi Yan had no mood for pleasantries with these people, clutching his items and heading straight to the elevator, impatiently pressing the button multiple tis until the doors finally opened and his patience ran out, his eyes narrowing.

In the elevator stood Sang Yu and two colleagues.

The two colleagues likely received so news; as soon as the doors opened, they darted out and left.

Mi Yan stepped in with his belongings, and the elevator doors slowly closed.

"Senior, you’re quite impressive," Mi Yan said, "Finding such strong backing; it seems you can thrive just on your looks."

Mi Yan’s words weren’t exactly polite.

But after speaking, Mi Yan regretted his rashness.

Yet the words had been said; he couldn’t take them back anymore, given the notice, he had nothing much to conceal.

Sang Yu didn’t quite understand, "What are you talking about?"

"Senior doesn’t know?" Mi Yan sneered, "Wasn’t it you who got fired? Senior, I know you wanted to join this company before, do you feel I took your spot and now retaliate against ? I trusted you so much."

Fired?

Mi Yan was fired?

"I didn’t have you fired."

He had no such authority, unaware of what transpired.

Mi Yan wouldn’t believe him.

Just then, the elevator reached its destination, Mi Yan stepped out with his belongings, turned to look at Sang Yu, "Senior, good luck."

Sang Yu frowned watching Mi Yan leave; the elevator doors closed and continued descending to the basent.

As soon as Sang Yu exited, he received a call from President Huang, appointing him as the new director.

Sang Yu: "..."
