Now reading: Chapter 1851: Lost in the Wilderness (8) from Let's Squander A Billion First!, a Sci-fi novel by Mo Ling.

Li Tian’s face turned from blue to white, seething with anger.

Not to ntion Lan Chen, the second-generation rich kid, never expected one day he’d be rained upon by money in the wild.

Wasn’t this a blatant slap to his face?

"Why is she carrying so much money?" Xie Ningfeng, relatively calm, asked, "And isn’t she quite short on cash?"

"Yeah, I saw her transfer the money away back then." Li Tian was reminded and imdiately recalled, "Where did she get this money from?"

They had been together along the way, where could she have gotten the money from?

Not only did she return the money initially given to her, but she also paid a penalty fee.

The three of them looked at each other, completely baffled.

Chuzheng distanced herself from the three; if not for trying to do... a good deed, she would’ve turned back by now.

Thinking it over, it’s still better here.

Leaving would an squandering like crazy, wouldn’t it?

The mountains are beautiful, the water is clear, and the weather is perfect, how nice!

Rumble——

Chuzheng’s thoughts hadn’t even settled when a muffled thunder roared overhead, followed by a downpour.

Chuzheng: "..." Damn!

Chuzheng pulled out an umbrella, and when everyone else was scrambling for cover, she calmly opened hers.

She even calmly handed one to Guide Uncle Min.

Uncle Min: "..."

Uncle Min looked at the bag on his back and then at Chuzheng, who was empty-handed...

Where did she pull it from?

How strange.

Over there, Yao Qing was pushed by soone, stumbling and almost falling.

Chuzheng watched coldly, initially not intending to help, but suddenly reached out to support her, after thinking about sothing.

Yao Qing, still shaken, looked at Chuzheng: "Thank... thank you."

Chuzheng’s umbrella was large enough for two people.

Yao Qing stood uneasily, and Chuzheng, not hearing the bastard’s cue, instantly felt like pushing her out.

[Miss, you can’t be so opportunistic. Just because there isn’t sothing now, doesn’t an there won’t be next ti.] King’s Account earnestly advised, [We need to look at the long term, right?]

Ha.

Chuzheng glanced at the tense and uneasy Yao Qing, then shifted her gaze away.

There wasn’t any place nearby for shelter, others were still frantically putting on raincoats.

Everyone was in a raincoat, only Chuzheng and the guide stood out with umbrellas, hard not to notice.

Who would bring an umbrella when going on an adventure?

Everyone chose raincoats for ease of movent and storage.

They quickly found a small shelter, and since it wasn’t big, everyone had to cram together.

Chuzheng, falling out with Li Tian’s group, was now with Uncle Min.

"Where are they planning to go?" Chuzheng casually asked Uncle Min.

Uncle Min paused his motion of drinking water, looked at her curiously: "Miss Liu doesn’t know?"

She knew.

But all she knew was that broken place, not what was there.

Chuzheng neither confird nor denied, simply saying, "Why don’t you tell about it?"

She handed a few bills to Uncle Min.

Uncle Min grinned, motioning Chuzheng to move back.

"The place you’re headed to is called Xiahui Mountain. There’s a village there, but it’s been long abandoned..."

Uncle Min said that shortly after the reforms, soone discovered the place... in such a remote area, it’s unknown how it was discovered.

Supposedly it held so archaeological significance, and many people ca at that ti.

Back then, Uncle Min was still a little kid, and soone sought his father as a guide, so he tagged along.

What exactly was in there, even Uncle Min wasn’t sure.

He was left at an outside camp, waited a long ti, and one day his father returned, disheveled, with a few others.

After those people returned, they quickly packed up and left.

Uncle Min overheard his father talking and learned there was a village inside, seemingly so ancient tribe settlent.

Later, his father warned him never to go there again.

"So you’re saying you don’t know the exact location?"

"...Uh." Uncle Min awkwardly laughed, "I know the approximate location, as long as we follow along, we won’t be wrong."

Chuzheng: "..."

-

The mountain rain cos and goes quickly, changes rapidly.

After the rain stopped, the group continued, but before long Xiao Qiu couldn’t go on, and everyone gathered to check.

Xiao Qiu’s leg was severely swollen, and his foot had clearly started to fester.

"How do you feel?"

"I’m fine..." Xiao Qiu shook his head.

Brother Gao pressed him down: "Don’t move, Xiao Mo, carry him."

Yao Qing was taken by Brother Gao, while Xiao Qiu was carried by Xiao Mo, noticeably slowing the pace. As Xiao Qiu’s condition worsened, everyone’s mood deteriorated.

Upon reaching a steep slope, the atmosphere beca oppressive.

Such a slope couldn’t be climbed without exertion.

But Xiao Qiu was completely reliant on being carried by Xiao Mo, how could he exert himself?

Brother Gao squatted by Xiao Qiu, checked his wound, ultimately shaking his head.

The festering was severe, and their dicine had no effect.

"Xiao Qiu, wait here for us." Brother Gao pressed on Xiao Qiu’s shoulder.

"Brother Gao, I can still..." Xiao Qiu panicked.

Injured, abandoned in the wild by teammates, what chance did he have to survive?

How could Xiao Qiu agree?

He didn’t want to die here.

"Xiao Qiu, in your current state, you can’t travel with us. We’ll leave enough water and food, wait here for us to return."

Brother Gao’s tone was gentle, but his attitude firm.

Xiao Qiu clutched his clothes and shook his head.

-

"Are they leaving him to die?" Li Tian whispered to Xie Ningfeng.

"Seems like it..."

"Can he survive staying here?" Li Tian was surprised, "Isn’t this indirect murder?"

"But how do we move on with him? Otherwise, everyone will be dragged down by him." Lan Chen appeared unfazed, speaking calmly.

Li Tian opened her lips but found no words.

With Lan Chen on trips before, she hadn’t faced such situations.

Chuzheng leaned against a rock, idly twirling a stalk of foxtail grass.

In this scenario, who would step up for Xiao Qiu if they weren’t life and death buddies?

"Brother Gao, isn’t it dangerous leaving him here?" Yao Qing spoke softly, "Isn’t this... not right?"

"Qingqing..."

"If you think it’s wrong, you take him." Brother Gao hadn’t spoken before Gan Lu chid in, "You need help yourself; can you still bother about others?"

Yao Qing hung her head, quietly defending, "But just leaving him, there’ll be death involved..."

Gan Lu rolled her eyes, staying silent.

Brother Gao: "Qingqing, we left him food, once we get up, we’ll find a way to co back for him."

Yao Qing couldn’t argue with them, in the end, Xiao Qiu was placed, left with food and water.

Gan Lu stood at the periter, after everyone bid farewell, she approached, leaving a weapon loaded with bullets without a word.
