Chapter 509: Chapter 509: Difficult to be a Hostage (4) Chapter 509: Chapter 509: Difficult to be a Hostage (4) “Your Highness the Princess, you don’t think that hostage will run into any trouble, do you?”

“If he were to die, wouldn’t that cause so complications?”

The woman walking in the very front was no more than in her late twenties, elegantly poised and dignified, with an ethereal temperant.

“Now you feel afraid? When you all pushed him down, I didn’t see any fear in you.” The Princess looked scornfully at the few people by her side.

The others exchanged looks with each other.

They hadn’t thought that much at the ti.

They were having fun at the back and had completely forgotten about him.

But now that they were returning and saw the towering Imperial City not far away, they finally realized the oversight.

After all, that was the Prince of Wei Country…

“Your Highness the Princess, what we did back then…”

“Your Highness the Princess.”

Soone hurried up from behind, and those people imdiately shut their mouths.

After the person who caught up had exchanged pleasantries and left, the Princess saw her companions’ expressions and said in a leisurely tone, “Don’t worry, he can swim. Besides, even if he can’t, all you need to say is that he ran away.”

The eyes of the others suddenly lit up.

“The Princess is truly wise.”

“If the hostage has escaped, it’s not our concern anymore, Your Highness is brilliant.”

Faced with such flattery, the Princess quite enjoyed it.

The Princess needed to return to the Imperial Palace, while the rest went back to their respective hos, so it wasn’t long before they went their separate ways.

Two of the girls were going the sa way and walked back together.

“Hey, why does the Princess hate that hostage so much?” one girl gossiped curiously.

“How would I know? In any case, I also dislike that hostage, always so gloomy and ek, not the least bit manly.”

“He’s not bad; he’s actually quite good-looking.”

“Do you like him or sothing?”

“How could I? Don’t you go spreading rumors, I wouldn’t like soone like him…”

As the two girls chatted, they suddenly fell silent.

They both looked back at the sa ti.

“Where’s everyone?”

The servants who had been following behind them were nowhere to be seen.

“Could we have lost them at the night market just now?” one girl frowned.

“We weren’t walking that fast, though,” the other girl said, puzzled.

“I’ve got a creepy feeling… let’s hurry up, I’m almost ho, then I can send soone to escort you back.”

“Okay.”

The two girls walked faster, and the pedestrians on the road gradually dwindled.

They were almost there when suddenly a dark figure appeared in front of them.

The girls scread in fright and turned to run.

As they turned, both of them saw a flash before their eyes and fell to the ground simultaneously.

“My Lord, that appears to be Minister Liu’s daughter.”

In the secluded loft above, the window was cracked open just enough to reveal the scene below.

Soone was dragging those two girls into an alleyway.

The man leaning by the window slightly raised his eyebrows and said with an almost playful tone, “What a pity.”

“My Lord, shall we not…”

“If you want to save her, go ahead, but I won’t. I’m not acquainted with Minister Liu.” The man closed the window and sat back at the table, looking at the shadow behind the curtain playing the zither: “Stop it, it’s unbearable to listen to.”

The zither music stopped abruptly.

The graceful figure outside hastily left.

“My Lord.”

The man poured himself a drink and the liquid made a splashing sound: “Chen Fei, if you’re that bored, go find a girl downstairs to relieve your weariness. Focus your energy on important matters, off you go.”

Chen Fei: “…”

Is carousing considered an important matter?!

Chen Fei, unable to persuade the man, heaved a sigh, bowed, and left the room.

The man set down the wine jug and glanced at the window before raising his cup and downing it in one gulp.

The wine trailed down his fair chin, dripping onto his clothes and soaking a small patch.

“The Prince of Wei Country… I never realized he had such nerve before.” The man murmured softly, his voice tinged with laughter, exuding an air of excessive indulgence.

Xiao Shanzi was terrified as he securely tied everyone up, shivering in the wind.

He never ever imagined that on his very first day of recognizing a new master, he would have to do sothing so outrageously insane with them.

These kids were all from influential ministerial families within the court.

If soone found out, not even nine heads would be enough for him to lose.

But if he refused to do it, he would be imdiately killed by the newly-appointed master…

It was the first ti Xiao Shanzi realized how hard it was to be a bad person.

“Master,” Xiao Shanzi saw Chuzheng approaching and hurriedly greeted her, “You… this… Princess Your Highness?”

When he saw the person in Chuzheng’s arms, Xiao Shanzi nearly knelt down.

Now a hundred heads wouldn’t be enough for him to lose.

Chuzheng dropped the unconscious Princess Yun Lan to the ground and covertly rubbed her own arm.

Princess Yun Lan was way too heavy.

She almost left gasping for air.

[…] Miss, please acknowledge the fact that your body is weak.

Am I weak?

It’s clearly because she’s too heavy!

Chuzheng refused to admit her own weakness.

[…] Not weak, not weak… But when I told you to waste money, is this how you chose to waste it?

Chuzheng with an indifferent face: Weren’t sleeping drugs bought with money? Rope too? And the boat? Which did I not spend money on? Spending so much money on these things, I tried very hard!

[…] Miss, I didn’t ask you to buy tools for committing cris!

The King’s Account roared in collapse.

Chuzheng continued with an indifferent face: As long as I spent it, that’s fine. Why do you care how I spend it? If you can, you do it.

[…]

I can’t afford to offend, can’t afford to offend.

Chuzheng ordered Xiao Shanzi to move the people onto the boat.

That damn thing dared to push into the water.

As if I can be easily bullied!

With the princess missing, the entire Imperial Palace was thrown into chaos.

Soon, so ministers reported that their naughty children hadn’t returned ho either.

The Emperor flew into a terrible rage and ordered a city-wide search.

The Princess must be found and brought back safe and sound.

The search went on all night long.

Xiao Shanzi dared not even close his eyes.

With every little rustle outside, his whole body would tremble with fear.

Only now did he realize what kind of a villain he was before?

It was all child’s play compared to this.

Amidst repeated scares, he finally made it until dawn.

The searching troops finally found the Princess and the few other naughty kids after an entire night.

They were floating on the river, discovered and rescued by fishern who went out early.

The Princess was brought back to the palace, fell seriously ill, and in her daze, couldn’t explain how she ended up being discovered on the river surface.

The others were seriously frightened as well.

In the chaos, no one managed to extract who had thrown them into the river.

So said they saw a shadow flit by and then rembered nothing else.

This statent quickly spread.

They said they had encountered a ghost.

The others weren’t scared, but it terrified the victims.

Monks and Taoists were soon coming and going in every household.

Talisman Papers from both Taoist and Buddhist traditions were plastered everywhere.

Chuzheng leisurely sipped tea while Xiao Shanzi cautiously reported the gossip from outside.

In the past few days, he had started to see.

This Thirteenth Prince was truly different.

Apart from that face, there was nothing reminiscent of the previous Thirteenth Prince.

But she didn’t do much; each day she would just drink tea, read books, bask in the sun, practically never leaving the inner doors.

It was so quiet it was as if no one lived here.
