Chapter 621: Chapter 621: Asking the Immortal in the Netherworld (3) Chapter 621: Chapter 621: Asking the Immortal in the Netherworld (3) eting Room 108.

The man pushed the door open and entered, as Hu Shuo quickly rose to his feet, “Professor Su.”

The man smiled, his tone very gentle, “Mr. Hu, what brings you here so suddenly?”

Dressed in a lab coat and sporting gold-rimd glasses, he gave off an air of gentle and scholarly charisma, with a smile as refreshing as a spring breeze.

“Cough cough cough…” Hu Shuo felt sowhat embarrassed, “Am I disturbing Professor Su?”

“Not at all,” Su Tiyue said, “What’s the matter, Mr. Hu? Just speak plainly.”

“Then I’ll get straight to the point… Didn’t Professor Su recomnd that I seek out Miss Chuzheng? I t her today, but it seems that she’s not very satisfied with the compensation. I just wanted to ask, what does she want?”

“Didn’t I tell you before?” Su Tiyue said.

“Uh…” Hu Shuo was a bit lost, not quite rembering.

It was possible that the situation was too chaotic at the ti, and he hadn’t heard clearly.

As Hu Shuo was feeling awkward, Su Tiyue ca to his rescue, “Mr. Hu, please wait a mont.”

Hu Shuo didn’t understand why.

Su Tiyue nodded at him and left the eting room.

Hu Shuo waited anxiously in the eting room, and it was nearly half an hour before Su Tiyue returned.

“Professor Su…”

Su Tiyue raised her hand, signaling Hu Shuo to be patient.

He pushed up his glasses on the bridge of his nose and took out a glass bottle from the pocket of his lab coat, setting it in front of Hu Shuo, “Take this with you.”

“What is this?”

“Mr. Hu, even if I told you, you might not believe it,” Su Tiyue said with a polite and gentle smile, “Please rember, Mr. Hu, do not anger Miss Chuzheng.”

“Uh… what happens if she gets angry?” Hu Shuo felt that the young lady was not easy to deal with.

Su Tiyue said, “If you anger her… At best she will simply ignore you, but at worst, she might break the agreent.”

“Break the agreent?”

“She’s not one for contractual spirit, please rember this very clearly,” Su Tiyue said solemnly, making Hu Shuo feel anxious at heart.

“Thank you, Professor Su, if… if this works, I will be sure to thank you generously.”

“There’s no need for that, I’ll see you out.”

Hu Shuo imdiately felt he could say no more.

By the ti Hu Shuo returned to Wenxian Road, it was already evening.

Wenxian Road was adorned with lights and crowded with people, its beauty dazzling, vastly different from the brightly lit skyscrapers on the other side; it had a more festive and warr atmosphere.

No vehicles were allowed on Wenxian Road at night, so Hu Shuo could only walk in.

The road ford a cross, and the two intersecting streets were collectively referred to as Wenxian Road.

Hu Shuo walked again to No. 44 Yellow Springs Road.

Unlike other shops that were illuminated, the signboard was dark and eerily somber.

The door of the shop was partially open, with a paper effigy placed outside.

The paper effigy was of a little girl, with two braids sticking up, cheeks rouged like Gao Yuanhong, and her mouth opened in a smile…

Hu Shuo felt a chill run down his spine.

There was a faint light inside the shop.

In such a bustling street, didn’t anyone feel the creepy oddness of this shop?

Yet people seed accustod to its presence, going about their ways as usual, with even the bold ones taking pictures with the paper effigy.

This…

Damn, these are so tough cookies!

Hu Shuo swallowed hard, edged to the door, and knocked.

He peered inside and, thankfully, other than incense, wax, and paper candles, there were no more of the horrifying paper effigies.

Technology has advanced rapidly, and now, tombstones could be scanned to read life stories, candles and paper could be offered online—both environntally friendly and convenient.

It’s likely that there weren’t any other shops like this incense and candle store throughout the entirety of Jingnan City.

The shop wasn’t large, but the shelves for incense, wax, and paper candles were made of premium wood.

Each item was categorized and placed with ticulous order.

To draw a comparison, it was like the difference between a bargain market and an upscale mall.

Shelves were placed all around, with a table and chairs set in the center.

At this ti, a girl was sitting on a chair, her back to the door.

She was dressed the sa, one foot resting on another chair, her baggy shorts sliding down to her thigh, revealing a long and straight leg with perfect curves.

An incense shop, dim lighting, and a strange girl.

Together, this scene made Hu Shuo feel a bit overwheld.

On the floor, a small robot was rolling around, making a clattering noise.

That robot…

The main industry of Fanxing Group was related to robots.

He was almost familiar with all the robots on the market.

Even the discontinued and obsolete models from the past, he could recognize.

But this one…

He had never seen a robot like this before.

It wasn’t because it was small.

It was its material that was a bit strange, a robot made of glass? Unheard of.

“We are not open for business,” the girl on the chair said without turning her head, dismissing the visitor outright.

Hu Shuo hastily ca to his senses.

“Miss Chuzheng, it’s , Hu Shuo.”

“I don’t care if you are ‘Hu Shuo’ or spouting nonsense, we’re closed today.” She was annoyed.

“…”

Hu Shuo! Not spouting nonsense!

Hu Shuo pulled out his shalessness, usually reserved for dealing with clients: “Miss Chuzheng, I’ve brought sothing for you, won’t you take a look?”

“Not looking, goodbye.”

“Miss Chuzheng…” Hu Shuo tried to walk further inside.

The girl on the chair suddenly stood up, her baggy shorts falling down, covering her thighs, and the chair screeched crisply across the wooden floor.

Turning around, the girl snapped fiercely, “Are you done yet!”

Her eyes lacked any warmth, making Hu Shuo feel a chill run down his spine.

He never felt this way, even in front of tycoons worth billions.

It must be the environnt here causing it.

Definitely!

Forcing himself to stay calm, Hu Shuo addressed her again: “Miss Chuzheng.”

He took out the bottle Su Tiyue had given him, which flickered with light, but even after observing it on the way over, he had no idea what was inside.

Chuzheng looked at the little bottle and sat back down: “The person you want to protect, what’s their relation to Su Tiyue?”

“…” A string of question marks arose in Hu Shuo’s mind: “Miss Chuzheng, this…”

“Answer my question.”

“Professor Su and our Mr… are classmates.”

“Oh.” Chuzheng kicked another chair: “Sit.”

Hu Shuo: “…”

He should have been the one in control of the conversation.

But from the mont he entered… no, from the mont he stood at the door, Hu Shuo had felt inadequate.

This place is too damn weird!

However, thinking back on what had happened before, Hu Shuo then felt that perhaps Chuzheng could indeed solve the problem.

He steadied his spirit.

Hu Shuo placed the bottle in front of Chuzheng, sat down properly, like a student awaiting a teacher’s grading.

Chuzheng hooked the little bottle into her palm and held it up against the light.

Hu Shuo subconsciously looked up…

Bang!

Hu Shuo fell to the ground, his face drained of color, staring in horror at the ceiling.

Atop the chandelier on the ceiling lay a paper effigy.

And it was glaring down, grinning sinisterly at him…

Chuzheng squeezed the little bottle in her palm and pulled out a piece of paper from under the table, sliding it towards Hu Shuo: “Sign.”
