Chapter 699: Chapter 699: Encountering Splendid Auspiciousness (33)

“Miss, now you know the benefits of being rich, right?!” The King’s Account never forgot its duty, constantly spreading the philosophy of using wealth to do as one pleases to Chuzheng.

Chuzheng didn’t even want to bother with it.

Following the route provided by Chuzheng, the surveillance quickly traced the car.

However, after passing through a few streets, the car once again turned into a surveillance blind spot and disappeared.

They checked all the nearby surveillance but failed to find the car.

Since Yan Yu couldn’t participate right now, Shen Siming had Chuzheng take Yan Yu away first. He said he would inform him imdiately if he found any useful information, and in the anti, he assigned two people to protect him.

Who knows if the murderer would insanely target Yan Yu again.

In the end, the car provided no useful clues, infuriating Shen Siming to the point of stomping his feet.

Zhou Wen was brought back to the police station and interrogated by Shen Siming himself.

However, Zhou Wen’s statents were no different from before, except he fell silent when it ca to how he got disabled and refused to speak.

Shen Siming had people call back the forr employees of Changfeng Factory for questioning.

How Zhou Wen was injured, no one at the factory could say.

As soon as these people were questioned and stepped out, they were intercepted by Assistant Xu.

Although Assistant Xu also failed to find out how Zhou Wen’s accident happened, he got wind of sothing else.

“President Jin, soone said that Zhou Wen had an ambiguous relationship with the wife of Changfeng Factory’s owner. One ti, they were even caught by the boss having an argunt,” Assistant Xu reported.

“In a fit of anger, the boss crippled Zhou Wen?” And then what, he continued to run his business?

Assistant Xu shook his head: “We don’t know about that, indeed no one saw how Zhou Wen got injured.”

“Has that boss been found?”

“Not yet,” said Assistant Xu. “He seems to have vanished into thin air. His relatives say that he hasn’t been seen since the factory closed down, and even his family has searched for him, reported it to the police, but to no avail.”

Both the boss and his wife had beco missing persons.

And the pri suspect, Zhou Wen, once had an ambiguous relationship with the boss’s wife.

“Go check that car, find the person.”

“Yes, President Jin.”

Assistant Xu proceeded to track the previously ntioned car, while the official investigation into Zhou Wen was being stepped up.

The likelihood of Zhou Wen committing the cri was very low, given that he was disabled, but it was highly possible soone close to him was involved.

Chuzheng already had detailed information on Zhou Wen in her possession.

Zhou Wen had completed high school and due to his family’s inability to afford college tuition, he had joined Changfeng Factory after being introduced by an acquaintance.

Zhou Wen’s father had died long ago, and his mother had no stable job, often working several jobs to support the two of them.

The police, without evidence, couldn’t keep Zhou Wen detained indefinitely.

Zhou Wen was released, and his mother pushed him upstairs, her face showing a bleak expression: “What is all this about? These people are sick. You need soone to take care of you, yet they say you killed soone. Isn’t that ridiculous?”

“Mom, I’m fine.”

Zhou Wen had a scholarly look, wearing a pair of glasses and emanating the air of a learned person.

Back then, Zhou Wen was top of his class. If he had continued his education, perhaps he would now be a social elite.

“It’s all Mom’s fault,” Mother Zhou started to choke up as she spoke: “If it hadn’t been for Mom’s sudden illness, you wouldn’t have given up your studies, and none of this would have happened.”

“Mom, it’s not your fault,” Zhou Wen patted the back of Mother Zhou’s hand: “Don’t cry, or the neighbors might think I am mistreating you.”

Mother Zhou quickly wiped away her tears and entered the house.

As soon as she did, she noticed sothing was off—the living room had soone in it.

The living room curtains were drawn, and from the entrance, they could only see two silhouettes, one standing and the other sitting on the sofa.

Mother Zhou flipped the light switch with a ‘click’.

The man standing was smartly dressed in western attire, his deanor respectful.

The one sitting was a young girl, appearing quite young in age.

She leaned casually on the sofa, and the shabby surroundings seed to be elevated in quality by her re presence.

“Who are you?” Mother Zhou, on alert, subconsciously reached for her phone in her bag, ready to call the police.

“Mrs. Zhou, sorry for the intrusion,” the standing man politely said, “President Jin has so questions for Mr. Zhou Wen.”

“You barged into our ho.” Was this how they asked questions, by breaking into soone’s ho? Mother Zhou put Zhou Wen behind her, “This is illegal!”

Assistant Xu smiled helplessly and snapped his fingers; suddenly, several bodyguards appeared in the hallway.

Mother Zhou and Zhou Wen were separated.

“Mom!”

Zhou Wen tried to reach for Mother Zhou but was blocked by a bodyguard and pushed into the room.

“Who are you, what do you want to do?”

“Son!”

“Mom… let go of my mother!”

Chuzheng toyed with a chanical toy in her hand, oblivious to the drama unfolding between the mother and son as if it were a matter of life and death.

Zhou Wen was pinned on the wheelchair, unable to move.

Mother Zhou was taken and seated on the sofa opposite Chuzheng.

Chuzheng placed the toy on the coffee table and lifted her gaze to et Mother Zhou’s, who was clearly showing signs of fear.

She let go of the toy and leaned back, “Zhou Wen, I have just one question. Answer it correctly, and both you and your mother will be fine.”

Zhou Wen’s eyes were about to burst with anger, “What do you want to ask?”

Chuzheng looked at him and asked slowly, “Who is the killer of the Straw Man.”

Zhou Wen’s eyes briefly glazed over, then he shouted angrily, “How would I know? I already said, I’m not the murderer, I don’t know, why do you keep pestering ?!”

Chuzheng gestured to the bodyguards behind her.

A bodyguard pulled out a knife, advancing toward Mother Zhou.

Mother Zhou began to tremble in fear.

Zhou Wen tried to struggle up from the wheelchair, but was ruthlessly pushed back down, “Let go of my mother, I really don’t know, who the hell are you?!”

“Certainly not good people,” Chuzheng said indifferently, “Even if I killed your mother, no one would know it was . So, Mr. Zhou Wen, please cooperate and tell , who is the murderer.”

If they did not find the killer, the Good Person Card was always acting up.

She couldn’t even give a friendly hug, which was very troubling for her.

“I don’t know… I don’t know…”

Zhou Wen’s eyes were bloodshot as he fixed his gaze on Mother Zhou, terrified that the knife would harm her.

Suddenly, the bodyguard exerted force, and a cut appeared on Mother Zhou’s neck.

“Ah…”

Mother Zhou let out a scream.

Chuzheng raised her index finger to her lips, and the mont she did, the bodyguard imdiately covered Mother Zhou’s mouth, turning her screams into muffled struggles.

“Don’t hurt my mother! Stop!!”

“Tell , who is the murderer.”

The lighting in the living room was soft and warm, but when it fell on the face of the young girl, devoid of any ripples, it inexplicably felt cold.

“It was , it was , okay! Let my mother go!” Zhou Wen shouted his confession, “It was all , let her go, let her go!!”

“You did it?” Chuzheng’s gaze fell on his legs, her tone cold, “Seems like the wound is not deep enough.”

Chuzheng signaled the bodyguard to continue.

Zhou Wen fell straight from the wheelchair, “Stop! Stop, I beg you, don’t…”
